Now that the combine is over, I thought I'd fire up the mock draft. Pick a team, or two, and I will fill in your name on the master list. Once every team has a "GM," we will start making selections. Make your selections in a timely fashion or the person with the team up next will make your selection for you. As always, the Packers pick will come from a Packer Rats poll. If anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to write them down after your team pick. Like how many rounds we should go for?

Nobody wants to look bad by calling the Panthers and getting the first pick wrong.

If it were me I'd take that Patrick Peterson kid. I know the reasons for not taking a cornerback. But in the combine he had all the grace of a superior 5'10' cornerback with elite speed and the size of a tall safety.

He is the Best Player Available when the show opens on a Thursday night hence.

Love this idea!

At the same time, everybody should feel free to just jump in and comment on picks that people have made.

A distinction, however, keep in mind that if you absolutely want to rip a pick as absolutely stupid, keep in mind that the person making that pick may well have been attempting more to "roleplay the GM" than "make an intelligent pick." So if the Raiders reach for a really fast guy, or the Cowboys pick a WR or RB ahead of a player of higher value at a position that would make more sense, that's probably just the fact that Al Davis is old and crazy and Jerrah Jones sees stars.

So, if you (general second-person pronoun) end up making a stupid pick, just pretend that you were acknowledging the fact that team's GM is a bum.

I hate to say it, but without any free agency activity due to the extension (lockout), it'll be tough to tell which holes teams plan to fill via draft and which through free agency. Even the top picks are more muddled this year than usual.

Let me be the first to point out to my fellow GM's, especially Nutz and Packrulz what a wonderful prospect Cam Newton is. Could not be more impressed, and think the boy will tear it up in the NFL, he's a franchise QB just waiting to be taken. Don't miss this big chance!

Don't bother with all the fast talking others are doing about that guy who plays CB. I mean, how important is that? Takes away maybe half the field on D. I mean, a QB is so much more important, the best defense is a good offense, don't ya know?

The Redskins are said to be thinking of trading the 10th pick for some Six Flags coupons and a box of frozen churros. If that deal falls though, they really think Randy Moss could be the missing ingredient on offense after Shanahan fires his defensive coaching staff. They are also said to be considering adding Kevin Kolb to solidify the QB situation and present McNabb with a friendly face this season.

Barring those developments, Vernon Gholston, who came into the NFL with impeccable collegiate credentials, might help boost the defense too. About the only thing the Redskins are not considering is doing using the pick on someone trustworthy.

The Bills are left with a real poser here.

They fully expected Carolina to cave to pressure, and opt for the sexy pick, Cam Newton. That would have made their job a lot easier. The Bills would like to add a QB, and Cam Newton would be the one they want.

The Bills would consider a DT, having lost Stroud this year. But Denver, surprisingly, picked Dareus, who played 5 tech in college and would fit in Buffalo's scheme, over Fairley, who projects better in a 4-3.

But when it comes down to it, the NFL is a copy cat league. Green Bay won the Super Bowl this year:pack: by having top flight corners and playing a lot of nickel. Terrence McGee is getting old, and has missed a lot of games these past couple of years. Peterson is the most talented player in this draft.

The Bill select Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU.

Bretsky

I'm in charge of mocking each draft pick........or at least commenting

Da Bills pick the top CB over any QB in the draft. Rumor has it next year they will bring back Anthony Dilweg and Don Majikowski to compete with Brian Brohm and Fyan Ritzpatrick.
Rather than a boom or bust QB pick they draft the sure thing at CB.

The Rams have had their eye on their guy for 18 months now; they wait in anticipation of seeing him in 12 picks

The Bengals have no choice but to take their pick of quarterbacks. It's all but a done deal that Carson Palmer will not play another game for the team, and Jordan Palmer couldn't be a number 3 on most team's depth charts. The real question is, Blaine Gabbert or Cam Newton? This prognosticator thinks it won't even be much of a question after Gabbert's pro day. It's also no secret that the Cardinals think very highly of Gabbert and are praying he falls to number 5.

Everything about the Bengals organization screams Cam Newton. And, I'll probably regret not picking him in this mock, as the Bengals very well could take him in the real draft. However...

With the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft, the Bengals select Blaine Gabbert.

2. The cards not too long ago switched to the 34 defense and need to add a few more impact players on that side of the ball to be effective. They have some good young talent in Dockett, Rodgers-Cromartie, and Wilson, but need a dominant outside pass rusher to move them up the defensive rankings. Luck for them that player is sitting there waiting for them.

Fairley falling isn't actually entirely unreasonable. There are character concerns up and out the wazoo with this guy, and the suspicion is that he's got a bit if Haynesworth's personality without having Haynesworth's talent.

So while Fairley could be a great player, he's also an extremely risky pick. Depending on the job security of the person making that pick, he may be less desirable for specifically that reason.

The interesting thing right now is as it stands, there's a realistic chance that Cam Newton falls to the Vikings. Now wouldn't that be entertaining.

We always run into this issue. Remember, though, that the real draft is more than a month away.

1. Carolina Panters - packrulz - Carolina has needs all over, including quarterback, but the loss of Peppers has left a gaping hole on their defensive line, and new coach Ron Rivera is defensive minded, Panthers select: Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson

2. Denver Broncos - packrulz* - The Broncos also have needs all over, however, new coach John Fox is switching to the 4-3 defense, and the Broncos D was ranked worst in the NFL last season, so defensive help is a glaring need. They resigned Champ Bailey at CB, and a decent QB should still be around in the second round. After watching Ndamukong Suh take the NFL's defensive rookie of the year award, Fox is looking at a dominating DT who had an amazing combine and zoomed up draft charts, the Broncos select: Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama

3. Buffalo Bills - Guiness - The Bills are left with a real poser here. Green Bay won the Super Bowl this year by having top flight corners and playing a lot of nickel. Terrence McGee is getting old, and has missed a lot of games these past couple of years. Peterson is the most talented player in this draft. The Bill select Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU.

4. Cincinnati Bengals - TennesseePackerBacker - The Bengals have no choice but to take their pick of quarterbacks. However...With the fourth overall pick in the 2011 draft, the Bengals select Blaine Gabbert.

5. Arizona Cardinals - PaCkFan_n_MD - The cards not too long ago switched to the 34 defense and need to add a few more impact players on that side of the ball to be effective. They have some good young talent in Dockett, Rodgers-Cromartie, and Wilson, but need a dominant outside pass rusher to move them up the defensive rankings. Luck for them that player is sitting there waiting for them. The azcardinals select: VON MILLER

6. Cleveland Browns - Smidgeon - The Browns are working on overcoming many seasons of ineptitude. With a defense-heavy draft last year and a QB already in the fold, the Browns look to give Colt a weapon by selecting A. J. Green

7. San Francisco - mraynrand - 49ers are shocked that Gabbert, Dareus, Peterson, and Green are all gone. Hairball believes he can coach up Smith or later round QB selection. Niners need to shore up defensive backfield and draft Prince Amukamara, CB from Nebraska.

8. Tennesse Titans - PaCkFan_n_MD - Now I feel like I'm selecting him because he was brought up lol! Anyways, titans think about going with Cam Newton, but decide to go BPA: NICK FAIRLEY, DT, Auburn

9. Dallas Cowboys - Spaulding - The pick will be Robert Quinn DE/ OLB UNC. Quinn is one of the best players coming out this year despite being suspended for the entire season. Character concerns have never scared Jerry Jones off before and it won't be any different now.

Washington Potomac Drainage Basin Indigenous Persons (Dan Snyder has refused to allow use of the trademarked name Redskins in any pro football related coverage unless a media outlet is an "official partner". Since PackerRats offical budget for FY '10-11 is a grand total of $11.73, we will need to name them in an alternative manner)

Needs: QB, DLine (nose and pass rusher), OT

Thoughts: Shanahan retains all the arrogance he displayed in his previous stint in Denver. He butted heads with his vet QB all season long, almost acting like the trade had been foisted upon him by Snyder. The odds are long against McNabb's return. Behind him is the Sex Cannon, Rex Grossman and John Beck. Shanahan has grabbed a first round QB before, but in that case, it was a second tier guy who climbed the board during silly season and was taken 11th overall.

Cutler was a classic pocket QB who has a great arm, very good mobility and a 13 year old's attitude. But Ryan Mallet is a big reach here. So is Jake Locker. Cam Newton might fit the bill, and Shanahan would probably not shrink from the challenge if he thought Newton could cut it as an NFL QB.

Dareus and Fairley are both gone. Wilkerson and Liuget are available for the inside, though Liuget may be a reach at 10. For pass rush, Watt, Smith and Kerrigan are possible as pass rushers.

Castonzo and Smith are the possibilities at O Tackle.

Given the absence of Free Agency, Shanahan will have to do something at QB. That something will be Cam Newton, QB, Auburn.

Pick 12:

The Vikings love everything about Wisconsin so JJ Watt is a very tempting pick given some uncertainty along their defensive line. But because of the contract situation with Sidney Rice and the lack of depth behind him, MN feels obligated to go WR and Julio Jones' upside is just too much to pass on. Playing in a run-first scheme with a decent-not-great QB at Alabama, there's belief that Jones could shine even brighter on the NFL stage. His combine performance on an injured foot only solidified this thinking.

St. Louis Rams: Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri
Chris Long had an incredible season, but the Rams need a pass-rusher on the other side of the line of scrimmage. James Hall is also coming off a great year, but he just turned 34. St. Louis will need to find a long-term successor soon.

Aldon Smith missed some action this year, which would explain why he had only 10 TFL and 4.5 sacks. However, he's a freak of nature and pretty much a lock for the top 15. Smith has drawn comparisons to Jason Pierre-Paul in terms of raw athleticism.

Guess it all depends on whether they view Ingram as as Emmitt Smith like player or if his lack of breakaway speed equates him with others
This year does seem to be a very ordinary year for the RB group IMO

The Miami Dolphins apologize for their tardiness. The Dolphins biggest need is obviously a QB. With Newton and Gabbert, gone, and the fact that neither of them are that enticing to begin with, the Dolphins will have to address their QB woes later in the draft. The Dolphins could use an interior lineman to help out their power running game but nobody is worth the 15th choice. There is a need at FS that can't be filled without a major reach and then there is running back. Mark Ingram seems like a natural choice--Brown and Williams are past their prime and are due for free agency. However, Bill Parcells still has some influence with the Phins and the big tuna rarely spends first round picks on offensive players, let alone RB. The Dolphins take by far the BPA in DE, JJ Watt.

Jags select Ryan Kerrigan to eventually replace AK74. We thought about Mark Ingram, but with Maurice Jones Drew already in the fold we just couldn't take a player who would have a hard time getting on the field with our first pick.

10. Washington Redskins - pbmax - Needs: QB, DLine (nose and pass rusher), OT.

11. Houston Texans -gbpackfan - Well this is exactly where the Texans did not want to be. Both CBs worth drafting this high have already been taken and Von Miller and Robert Quinn are off the board as well. If I were the Texans GM, I would trade down. But since Im not and this is just a silly online mock draft, Ill make the pick. The Texans are switching the 3-4 defense and need players to fit that scheme. With no CBs or OLBs worth drafting this high, they take the best DL still on the board. With the 11th pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Houston Texans select........California DE Cameron Jordan.

12. Minnesota Vikings - Mission - The Vikings love everything about Wisconsin so JJ Watt is a very tempting pick given some uncertainty along their defensive line.

13. Detroit Lions - Gave - Pick 13: LIONS. The lions deff need help on the O-Line Godser Cherilus will be fine on the Right side, and either Tyron Smith, or Anthony Castonzo look nice. I'm not sure who the lions would like better, but I know I like Castonzo better, so thats the pick. With the 13th pick overall the Lions select Anthony Castonzo

14. St. Louis Rams - Bretsky - Aldon Smith, DE, Missouri .

15. Miami Dolphins - 3irty1 - The Miami Dolphins apologize for their tardiness. The Dolphins take by far the BPA in DE, JJ Watt

16. Jacksonville Jaguars - JustinHarrell - Jags select Ryan Kerrigan to eventually replace AK74. We thought about Mark Ingram, but with Maurice Jones Drew already in the fold we just couldn't take a player who would have a hard time getting on the field with our first pick.

Fins need OL and a QB. RBs you can get later. Ingram's not special.

He's going to be a good back I think. He runs hard. Good vision. Good after contact. Good agility. Good balance. He has the toughness to get the type of yards you see in the NFL. He has the balance to stay on his feet after big contact, so he'll break a lot of medium - long runs. Again, with his great after contact play it will also make him a great redzone player. He goes forward.

He's not flashy, but he's effective. I could see him being a top 10 back during his prime, maybe more if he's on the right team. I think he's one of the safer bets to be good in the whole draft.

He sounds like the AJ Hawk of running backs. :)

I agree that he is well-suited to be a workhorse back on a team with a good running offense. Oddly, the combine made him look average, when the tape makes him look special. I wonder the last time a running back wasn't picked in the top 20?

Steven Jackson was the 24th player taken in 2004. Since then, Knowshon Moreno was the lowest RB picked, and he only had to wait until the 12th pick. I'm guessing Ingram will go somewhere in between those two spots this year.

The thing about Ingram is that I think he can be a great RB if you put him behind a really good run blocking OL, but he's not going to be a guy who produces a lot on his own. Miami is not a team with a great (or even a good) OL so I think they would be better suited to addressing another need in the first and then hoping to catch LeShoure or Ryan Williams in the 2nd.

From what I recall, the Patriots absolutely refuse to deal with the guy who is Watt's agent, there was a contentious negotiation in the past and since then they've never drafted one of his clients in any round. Not sure that's enough to keep them from drafting Watt, but it's a reason it might not happen.

I know I am going to waste a lot of mental energy on draft day regarding certain players I don't want going to our division rivals. I would hate to see Carimi, Moffit, or JJ Watt end up in Chi, Minny, or Detroit. I think Pouncey will be pretty good, so I hope he lands somewhere else as well.

This would be a great year for them to all pick quarterbacks that push Tim Couch and Joey Harrington down the NFL bust list.

Guess it all depends on whether they view Ingram as as Emmitt Smith like player or if his lack of breakaway speed equates him with others
This year does seem to be a very ordinary year for the RB group IMO

Well, it's also worth considering that even Emmitt Smith may not have been Emmitt Smith if he didn't play behind quite possibly the best offensive line since Vince Lombardi was stalking the sidelines. We can all thank the Vikings for that, by the way.

The NY Giants are a bit disappointed that T Castonzo did not make it to them to assist in rebuilding their aging line. However Beatty is coming into year 3 and is looking to be making that step to a starting T and Boothe is showing that he could very well be the starter at G this season, the line doesn't look as bad as advertised and thus the Giants can look elsewhere for their first round pick. Let's face it, the LB corps is simply underwhelming and a playmaker would be very welcomed indeed. But when there's a LB available that has proven he can do it all, stop the run, defend the pass and rush the passer a team has to jump on him. His combine may not have been the best, but the overall body of work at the college level was too much to overlook to let some silly drills determine the merits of a player. With the 19th pick of the 2011 draft, the NY Giants select OLB Akeem Ayers, UCLA.

1. Carolina Panters - packrulz - Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson

2. Denver Broncos - packrulz* - Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama

3. Buffalo Bills - Guiness - The Bills are left with a real poser here.

The Kansas City Chiefs go into this draft looking for an OLB to pair with Tamba Hali, a WR to pair with Dwayne Bowe, and a Nose Tackle to complete their defensive line.

With Miller, Quinn, Smith, Kerrigan, Houston, and Ayers off the board the cupboard is bare at OLB.

At the start of the process, the Chiefs had hoped that Justin Blackmon would declare for the draft meaning that the Chiefs would potentially have a shot at either Blackmon or Julio Jones. Unfortunately both Blackmon and Michael Floyd elected to go back to school so there's not another first round calibre WR, so this position is better addressed later.

The Chiefs regret passing on B.J. Raji in 2009 to take Tyson Jackson. Not that Tyson Jackson has been a disappointment, but more that the defense really needs a nose tackle. So the Chiefs strongly consider Stephen Paea and Phil Taylor at this point. However, with Paea's questionable knee (and lack of ideal length) and Taylor's status as a career underachiever (and a fatass) the Chiefs decide to see if they can find value at another position.

But because they're somewhat surprised that he's on the board here, and because you don't build a great team drafting for need, the Chiefs elect to go BPA and select Gabe Carimi, OT Wisconsin. Carimi instantly has the potential to compete at four offensive line positions, and will assuredly be a starter at one of them. Best case scenario he displaces Albert at LT and Albert moves to his more natural position of LG (though he's been a fine tackle, so this isn't a priority). However, since you don't want Albert on the right side and Barry Richardson is an enigma who only occasionally seems like he would like to play football, Carimi is an instant plug and play at RT. He could also land inside at guard where Waters is declining, Lilja is average, and Asamoah is an unfinished product. The Chiefs could really use an OC, so Penn State's Stefen Wisniewski, but decide that Carimi offers better value here, as Wisniewski is not in the mold of a true first round center.

The Indianapolis Colts and 3irty1 are now on the clock.

The Indianapolis Colts and 3irty1 are now on the clock.

nice pick

for weeks I've been saying Carmini either goes to Indy or the Eagles. Highly unlikely he gets to GB IMO

Hi Lurker64:

I can see why you overlooked Tyrone Smith of S. Cal at LT (maybe?) because he's coming off knee surgery but I'm wondering about your preference of Gabe Carmini over Nate Soldier of Colorado? Why did you go with Carmini? I ask that question acknowleging your strong knowledge of the draft and to see what I can learn from you .

Two reasons. The Chiefs don't really need a LT, they need offensive linemen. The biggest hole is at center, but the bigger holes are at RT and one of the guard spots. Secondly, the Chiefs want to (tautologically) play Chiefs football which involves running the football... a lot. Carimi's a better schematic fit since he's more of a mauler.

The Eagles' most glaring weakness is the offensive line. They surrendered 52 sacks this year, including six in that weird Tuesday night game against the Vikings.
At the same time they lack secondary depth and pretty much suck at the CB position accross from Asante Samuel.

The Eagles consider Nate Solder and Jimmy Smith. While the Eagles are intruiged by the talent of Jimmy Smith, he's a huge character risk. They are still shocked some of the teams ahead of them drafted lesser players than Solder and at this point they are taking the BPA here knowing they might modify some positions at their OL due to this pick.

DA EAGLES SELECT.........................

Nate Solder, OT, Colorado. It's hard to ignore the offensive line issues Philly had in a disappointing close to the 2010 season. Solder does not have the strength to play right away for Andy Reid, but it's hard to imagine Reid not being enamored with Solder's physical talents.

Solder is an interesting prospect and one that does fit the mold of the Andy Reid type lineman in a lot of ways. He's got a big frame at 6-8/314 lbs and he's extremely athletic. In fact, he started as a blocking TE much like Jason Peters did. Scouting reports will talk about his good knee bend and footwork like they did with Winston Justice.

The big knock against him in this draft process is his lack of bulk. In fact, he lost 7 pounds between the combine and the pro day. Usually, teams are looking to see guys adding weight over that period. While Solder was probably the most impressive offensive lineman at the combine in the athletic drills like 40 yard dash, shuttle drill, broad jump ect, his raw strength did test particularly well

I'm guessing Bretsky picks Mark Ingram.

The Eagles had a more pressing need on the OL and to get someone to protect their QB. They are OK at present with a promising RB in McCoy and are desperate to make the obvious choice that fell to them. Nate Solder.

Solid pick by B.

Where do you have Ayers? He was a consensus top 15 pick until the combine from what I read. But as I gave in my reasons, I'm not going to let the drills at the combine overshadow the overall body of work and displayed ability.

Honestly, Ayers is probably slotted correctly. And, you're correct in your assertion that the combine is the reason for his slide. Just like the combine is the reason for Houston's rise. Which I feel makes Houston a reach that soon. I can't argue with your challenge on Ayers. The 17-26 range is the most likely spot for him to fall.

Thinking about this pick.

The Saints are notorious for going against the grain and the obvious pick to take the best player available regardless of what they may need at a given positions. That makes a pick for the Saints difficult.

It seems to me that the Saints have a primary need at DT and RB.

Reports surfaced a few days ago that the Saints will workout Oklahoma State RB Kendall Hunter in the coming weeks. A projected late first early second round pick. Other reports have Texas CB Curtis Brown in for a look. The word is that won't make Saints fans happy but that's moot. Curtis Brown is also reported to be on the workout schedule for the New England Patriots, Baltimore Ravens, Chicago Bears and Pittsburgh Steelers.

Yes Lurker64 they might elect BPA LB with this pick.

To elect a pick at RB is a complicated analysis. We're about a month away fr. the draft and not a lot of info. is available RE: definite intentions. They have somewhat of a complicated situation with what players will sign contracts and that will impact overall need. As I see it. It's safe to go BPA - DL.

What do you think Packer fans? They have seven more picks in the rermaining portion of the first four rounds of this draft. It's a fact that the best teams win Super Bowls with either a solid passing attack or with a 'D' that features stopping the pass. So we have two possibilities on the board above:

Brandon Harris, CB, Miami (Fl) and Brooks Reed OLB, Arizona. Maybe they would have loved getting WR Torrey Smith but he was claimed for the Falcons.

Too bad Mazzin took Smith. I would have liked to see him in G&G.

Interesting crew left on the board. Not many OL taken early compared to the last few years, until the run of three OT's.

From the vantage right now, I'm thinking Pouncey comes to GB. I wonder if Pitt would take him if he's still on the board? If they have him rated decently, you have to think they like the synergy of having two brothers on the OL.

Guin, you know they'll take Pouncey if he's sitting at 31. TBH, though, he's well gone by 31, IMHO. Maybe they trade up to get him; they should! Personally, I wanted both Pounceys in G&G, but BB is damned good, too.

Pittsburgh's mock GM knows that his team needs offensive line help. Sherrod and Pouncey will be considered, and ethical constraints prevent him from considering the feelings of the collective GM in Green Bay.

WHAT??????????? If Pouncy is there at #31, he's a Steeler. I seriously doubt the Steelers wait that long to re-unite the twins. Geez, I wouldn't. If I'm an NFL QB, I would feel reel compfy behind those two.

The fact that this is one of the more depressing offseasons in terms of NFL news in recent memory probably doesn't help this board get the traffic it needs for people to actually make their assigned picks in a timely fashion.

With the Eagles pick I spent time debating between Smith and Solder as well. Solder IMO will not fall that far; Smith......the reason guys like me like him but some will shy away....great talent with character concerns. I kind of doubt he'd be a ideal TT pick. I also really liked Talib coming out of college. Dynamic talent....he fell further than his talent would normally fall.....but bad person.....who is probably going to jail for a long time now

Pouncey IMO is the better player but Sherrod may fill more of a need in Pitt. Many feel Pouncey will also be a C like his brother in the NFL but most feel like he could excel at G or C

If he gets to GB odds I could see TT being happy with him

I don't claim to know much, but I would be totally surprised (and quite euphoric) to see TT faced with this decision.

I still love reading a lot of mock drafts and watching the NFL Network draft shows and nearly everybody has him going in the 20-30 range.

With that being said, everybody does love tackles and the center/guard appears to be a position that can fall.

The Jets picked Nick Mangold with the 29th pick in the draft a few years back, which was crazy. That guy was an amazing prospect at C and one of the best in the NFL.

Who would Seattle rather have.....Locker or Kolb ? If they are not sold on Whitehurst, they are the no brainer team that I'd think would be trading for a QB

IMO that's an easy one to answer. Locker is a real development project and it's being reported that all the QB"s in this draft class are.

I'd desire Kolb.

This young man is one of the more experienced tackles in the nation. 2010: An All-SEC selection in 2009 and 2010, He helped pave the way for the Bulldogs to lead the SEC and finish ninth nationally in rushing with 227.6 yards per game. This season, He has helped Mississippi State bulldoze its way to 219.3 rushing yards per game, which ranks 15th nationally. He has helped the top 25 Bulldogs achieve their most wins since 2007. The team captain has started 34 games and appeared in 46 contests for his career. He played in 10 games as a freshman in 2007, started 10 games as a sophomore, and started 12 games as a junior. He stands at 6'5'' and 305 pounds, but he has great agility for a man of his size. He is fundamentally sound, but struggled slightly against elite pass-rushers--whom he will see plenty of in the NFL. He has been a staple at left tackle for Mississippi State and he may be asked to protect Tom Brady's blind side for years to come at the next level as the Patriots select Derek Sherrod, OT from Mississippi State with the 28th pick of the 2011 draft.

This young man was a second team All-SEC selection this season by the Associated Press. He started every game at center for Florida this season and made 45 total career starts, at center (13), guard (28) and on the defensive line (4). He was part of an offensive unit that paved the way for four 300-yard rushing efforts in 2010, one of only six BCS teams to accomplish that feat. He played on the offensive line in high school, but he was moved to defensive tackle during his freshman season at Florida. Showing versatility, he switched back to offensive guard prior to his sophomore campaign. He stands at 6'5 and 320 pounds, perhaps ever so slightly bigger than his brother, who started as a rookie at center for the Steelers in 2010. Mike does not have the pass-blocking skills necessary to be an elite tackle in the NFL, but he has the ability to be a major force in the running game at guard, and he may even be asked to take some snaps at center as the Chicago Bears select Mike Pouncey with the 29th pick of the 2011 draft.

I rather don't want to make three picks in a row. Someone had volunteered to do the Jets for me. I have a pick ready for Pittsburgh if someone can step up and pick for the Jets. WR and DE are supposed to be needs for them. Man a lot of DE's are already gone.

Jets should also consider an NT (Paea or Taylor) or a Safety (Rahim Moore is the only safety worthy of a first round pick).

I now they are a defensive-minded club, so I doubt they'll go WR here. I just don't know their defense well, and I don't know what kind of DE's or OLB's they need. Paea is an interesting choice.
