Lot of nice tape on Ijalana here (#71 the left tackle). Yeah, it's FCS football but it's against the #1 seed in the tournament, and Montana is better than a bunch of bottom feeding BCS conference teams. Don't watch the play, watch the left tackle. The beautiful thing about Ijalana is that he's consistent. Doesn't give up pressure, doesn't let his man get away from him, his footwork is precise. Every time Villanova needed a big play they ran right behind him. The only thing you can complain about is that he needs work as a downfield blocker. If we ever need downfield blocking though, that means the run game has stepped up.

For a while now it seems like you are in love with Ijalana and Moch; I've been reading and watching a lot of film on each of them. I'm on board with Ijalana with pick 32. If TT gets the opportunity I'd pray he'd trade down three to five slots for an extra pick and roll the dice of getting Ijalana or Reed there. But at pick 32 I'm on board with Ijalana and he's passed Sherrod in my eyes. He's a safe pick; he's consistnet. At worst we get a very talented OG who may very well be our future tackle.

Moch, the more I see of him the more he scares me. No way I'd consider that dude in round one; maybe end of round two. He's so gifted. But he seems so raw. I've always admired guys like John Offerdahl who clearly are smash mouth football players with instinct and a good feel for the game. To me that is Brooks Reed.

Moch may be more gifted speed wise and as a straight line rusher. But it's hard to develop the instincts and I think he has a long ways to go.

I can't remember his measurables, but I remember how excited I was about Torrence Marshall many years ago. I had no idea how he fell into our laps in round three. He looked like Tarzan in shorts and seemed very gifted in strength and speed. But dude had no instincts at all. I'm not sure how well those can be developed; he should have them by now.

To put your mind at ease against Moch vs. Marshall first of all is that the 4-3 and the 3-4 have fundamentally different responsibilities for outside linebackers. In the 4-3, instincts are essential for linebackers since a lot of their responsibilities are "run and chase" and "fill gaps". 3-4 OLBs have more conceptually simple, but difficult to execute, responsibilities. The fact that a guy won't necessarily immediately diagnose the play is less damning when his responsibilities are primarily: 1) Rush the passer, 2) Set the edge, 3) Cover in the flat. Moch also really only played in space his senior year, so it's not clear to assume he "just won't get it."

Second keep in mind that Moch actually produced in college doing the thing we most wish our other OLB could do well: get after the passer. Even if a guy is clueless, if he can actually get after the quarterback you can use him situationally. That's better than we got out of Marshall.

I agree that Moch probably shouldn't be in the mix at the end of round one, he's not necessarily ready to start immediately and you can get a better prospect at the end of round one (I like most of the OL better, I'd take Ijalana, Watkins, Sherrod, and Wisniewski at 32 before I'd take Moch). End of round 2 though, sign me up. I would probably be willing to trade up modestly in round 2 to get him. It's cheaper to trade up after the first round, and we have 9 picks and we're not going to draft 9 guys who are going to make the roster.

I found the guys in that Montana tape playing against #71 were pretty small. He moves well, but his competition wasn't that hot.
