Steve Wright of the Packers 1966 Super Bowl winning team has sold his ring at auction. I wish him well and hope the money helps solve a problem, rather than just put it off.

This apparently on the heels of Ray Nitschke's son selling some merchandise as well.

I wish him well, too. It's too bad the old timers didn't get the financial rewards. So if, say, Tom Brady is ever forced to sell a ring, I'll laugh my head off.

As far as Nitschke's son is concerned, well, maybe the Packers HOF didn't want it. What do I know?

Can't blame the guy too much for cashing in a piece like that. I'm guessing he's not wealthy, and honestly, has outlived the life expectancy of an NFL Olineman. Enjoy it.

I wonder who bought it, and I hope it finds its way to the Packer HOF. Would be nice if we found out one of the present day Packers laid out the money for it.

I can't begin to tell you how sad that is. I could see one of his heirs not keeping it, but I'm betting it broke his heart to let it go. The league should be ashamed that these guys weren't better cared for while they're fighting over what to do with the billions.

Where does any of this get substantiated? Who says the guy is broke? Yep, there's theories, but no confirmation. Plenty of reasons people sell stuff. Some have nothing to do with money.
