12 Pound Turkey Challenge started by partial. Classic stuff that also included a lot of useful info people contributed from across the spectrum about work-out techniques. It ended when partial got drunk and threatened to beat me up or something, then Snake threatened to beat him up for threatening to beat me up. Then instead of locking it and moving it to the GC where it belonged as one of our all-time classic threads alongside the pregnancy thread, it was taken from us. At the time Joe claimed it still existed, but was simply hidden from us. Maybe that's not true and the beauty of that thread is lost forever, but I honestly hope not.

Anyway, what it turned into was a wonderful compendium on nutrition, exercise, and an abject lesson on listening to the advice of others that was completely lost on the unlistener. Breadsticks maybe? It ended badly when Partial got drunk and threatened to kill me with his leet fighter skillz or somesuch. Then snake threatened to kill him. Then, despite being of great entertainment and educational value, the thread was deleted instead of being locked and sent to the GC, which is what should have happened per our honor code here.

When a topic has more than 4 pages and I'm trying to catch up with the last couple pages, the pages are displayed as 1|2|3|...|14. If I know I last read page 9, I have to go to page 14, then go back to page 9. It would be nice for the page displays to be something closer to 1|2|3|...|12|13|14. That would at least make it easier to find the last couple pages of a good conversation.

If you click the "Quick Navigation" button next to the top button, you can select any part of the forum including settings and your personal page where it will take you. No need to click the top button.

Don't know if that helps or not, I usually use the top button myself, more out of habit than anything.

Look at the url and change it to the page you want. It's easier in this forum than the old one, because in the old one you had to multiply to get to the right post.

What was it you did to clean out mine? I ended up with a text file of every pm I ever got at the old site. Even ones I couldn't see there anymore. It was pretty damn cool. But it did effectively free up the new inbox.

Use "Madtown" to discuss Packers, politics, and other issues, and use "Administrator" and only administrator to discuss forum rules, etc. Don't mix the two. Whatever rules you have, keep them extremely basic. One rule I would suggest is to remind people that they don't have a right to be protected from ideas they don't like. People can't expect to be magically shielded from unfavorable topics or POVs.

HowardRoark, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

The description is connected to your reputation points which is plus or minus ten everytime someone puts a hit on one of your post. I have bumped your points up for being such a gem so it is not specific to you. Also to test how it works. These are by default not by choosing but I kind of thought it goes with your avatar anyways. Thinking I will give longtime poster rep points to either build on or lose. This may also help keep aholes like Partial from thinking everyone likes them. In the end it will just be another way to attack each others cred so I thought it might by useful.

This is becoming a popular yet unsuccessful strategy: a couple of months ago a goalkeeper playing for one of the top teams in the country was discoverd to do the same thing. He had created a couple of accounts on the official fan forum of his club and used it to criticize the other goalkeepers performances and to praise his own efforts.

The club discovered it and both parties decided 'in mutual agreement' to stop the contract but not without paying him the rest of his salary (€1mil). In the press he claimed it were his girlfriend and his brother who posted the messages using his computer, but without his knowledge.

His reputation didn't really get better after that.

On my screen, the Notifications tab at the top of the screen turns white when I have a message. I think you can set the software to send you a popup.

Soggy is correct. I do need to fix the color but you can set it for a popup in your settings.

In the quick reply box where you typed your message, there are icons at the top. Click the little round one to post a link (but if you post a url, the site recognizes it anyway), click the square to post an image. It now allows you to upload from your machine, so that is nice and the next one allows you to post a video.

If you look at the bottom of a post where the reply button is, there is a black icon that looks like a sheriff's badge. Click on that to approve or disapprove of a post.

Next to Reply with Quote, there is a black icon with a plus sign. Click that icon for each quote you want and then at the last one, click Reply with Quote and they will all show up.

Click Go Advanced and at the bottom of the smileys that are there, click More and you will get a screen with all of them.

Why do threads keep appearing as having "unread" messages even after I have opened the thread and no new messages have been posted since? I have even used forum tools to mark everything as "read", yet the next time I sign in the threads are highlighted even though they have no new messages.

Sometimes, if I've commented in a thread and someone else added something I hadn't seen before I post, that will happen, but my post will still be last. Otherwise, I have the same thing happen with the forum lists. I have to click into the Romper Room twice to have it marked read.

I tried posting 8 images in a post. Only the first 6 would show up. I tried splitting it up between 2 posts and they still wouldn't show up. You said on the first page of this thread you set the image limit to unlimited. Is there a limit on number of images per thread?

I figured out a temporary solution to that problem. After you read the last new post in the Romper Room, or make the last post there, instead of going straight to the forum index, click on the Romper Room link first. That will mark it read. At least it does for me.
