the proof is the womens world cup game on espn right now. the US womens team is getting fucked big time, and not the good fucking

so either they can't officiate, or the fix is in bigtime. the US is getting called harshly for little tic tac fouls while brazil is getting away with everything, even the most blatant of fouls

very sad

When I saw the thread title, I thought Skin was stirring shit again. But of course, I'd forgotten he's a modern guy. Red, you do know the only people that actually watch women's soccer live in the USA?

Having said that, I imagine Japan knocking out the host country has put the country into (yawn) a state of indifference at best.

That surprises me, since they played for a full house during the opener against Canada and even Angela was in attendance. And also when I was in Berlin for work 2 weeks ago it was a regular topic of discussion in the elevator.

Women's soccer is a bit like watching youth games: plenty of effort and heart, but also a bunch of basic technical & tactical mistakes.

This whole "fix is in against the USA" is nonsense; the USA is probably the biggest commercial market for women's soccer so there would be no interest in eliminating them from the tournament. Just like at the WC in South Africa when mistakes were made and people were suspecting fraude; errors by players & referees happen in all games.

Remember this one?

wootah, it's laughed at here, really. I haven't met anyone that's real devastated that the German team lost. Just like men's soccer is laughed at in the USA, except by the immigrants from traditional soccer countries. Of course they want their team to win, but they are devastated when they are eliminated in the men's WC.

Just imagine if the Dutch would have beaten Spain in the final???? Suicide rates would have hit new records. In Belgium, too I imagine! :)

Man, don't get me started on that one :)

Red, if you think the officiating was bad in the US-Brazil game, check this one out (also from the Women's World Cup):

Hard to tell but maybe too much grabass going on between players around the shooter?
