There's always the hope that they can work the replay into the existing commercial breaks. I know, I'm dreaming again...

Probably not that big of a deal. Most TD's are obviously TD's, and the play can probably be reviewed and confirmed while the endzone celebration is still going on. One thing it will do is prevent the home team from delaying the video feed to make it difficult for the visiting team to determine if they should throw a challenge flag when the home team has been awarded a questionable TD.

And it prevents coaches from having to waste a challenge on a scoring play. I like the change and would hope it doesn't elongate the PAT.

It'd be like in college football...

I think the NFL is going to author its own demise by making its rules so complicated that they cannot even be explained during the time needed for a replay.

Please also note that advocates for replay in baseball continually explain that the interruptions will be few and limited to only certain types of plays. Ignoring the lesson of football that once you start to review some plays (the original list of reviewable plays was very short-boundaries, possession and scoring) EVERYONE will start to scream about the need to review all plays, because that FG should have counted after it bounced back through off the arch.

Maybe they should have a commercial after every TD and before the extra point and use that time for reveiws.

New England at San Diego might be four hours, but at least Cleveland at Carolina will be over quickly.

They'll probably get pretty efficient at making these calls from the booth. We'll only see extended waiting if the guy got it wrong on the field--which is good for the game.

On the other hand, wouldn't we have lost the first Vikings game from last year with this rule and missed the playoffs? If so its the worst rule ever :)

I don't know what you are talking about. That Quarless TV would withstand any challenge. :whist:

I wonder if this won't somehow save time by preempting touchdown challenges. Now no one has to wait around for a replay to decide whether to challenge. The booth will already be about done with it by the time they'd have thrown the flag in the first place.

Eliminate the PAT. Go to commercial during the replay. Then I'm all for this rule.

We all need to remind ourselves that the uniforms the players wear aren't plastered with sponsors names and the stadiums don't have billboards advertising anything from viagra to Big Macs. I'd have no issue with the billboards but I love the puristic Jerseys.
