In my reviewing of the tape thus far, Hodge does not look as good as we all would like to think. I have noticed he played in the middle and Barnett on the outside on a few plays, too.

I didn't notice that he played middle w/ Barnett on the strong side. I think Hodge is a year away.
WE have a bunch of good young players who are a year away. Rodgers is going to inherit a decent team. I think the life after Favre might be brighter than the last few years with Favre.

I hate to give up on a team after one pre-season game. I know they'll get better as teh season wears on but they are too young at just about every position. The 2-6 year out look is good. The right now looks pretty grim.
I'm going to enjoy seeing Hawk, Collins, Hodge, Poppinga, Colledge, Spitz, Jennings and hopefully a few more just grow and develop into legit players. There are going to be alot of mistakes on the way so I'm not going to be too disappointed with a 6-7 win season.

If we go 8-8 and I would be satisfied. Yes, I know, it sounds pathetic. But to be honest, I don't see a playoff team here.

Potential for years to come, but definitely a team that's going to struggle right now. Probably very solid in 2007, inconsistent and disappointing in 2006 (with flashes of the greatness to come).

McGinn and Silverstein had Barnett at SAM with Hodge in middle at least once.

I saw Hodge struggle with pass drops, have the tape reviewers seen anything else?

There were at least two occasions where Hodge was in good pass coverage (one where he forced an incomplete pass - I believe in the 3rd Q).
But Hawk also got turned around in an over-pursuit (trying to cover a probowl caliber TE) leading to an eventual TD on the Charger's opening drive.

Hodge looked stiff in coverage but being a third rounder, I still think he will be very special.

Hodge's coverage was REALLY poor.
