Meet Smithson Shakson; I've been on this guys wagon since about two months before the draft.

Glad he landed and GB and I'm cheering for him. Great Article.

Smithson is this years Tyrell Sutton / Justin Beaver /... : the feel good story of training camp. Sorry to break it to you Bretsky, but unless he turns into Devin Hester during his PR's in the preseason, the chance of him making the roster are slim to none.

It seems that Freeman knows this as well;

"Don't count bodies," Freeman told Smithson at practice last week. "You're auditioning not just for the Packers but all 32 teams in the league."

Yet another good story form this year's crop of newbies. Shaky's got shake, and seems like he could be a good punt returner, but he doesn't have the break-away speed that Cobb has. Doubtful there's a spot for a punt return specialist on this 53-man roster unless he really blows it up in the preseason and Cobb looks shaky catching punts. That doesn't look like it's going to be the case.

The Packers need more slot type receivers with return abilities.

Hopefully SS replaces butter fingers Swain.

Camp fodder, brought in to make sure Cobb doesn't get lonely catching balls from the juggs machine.

Barring injury or the Packers deciding to keep 6 WR, he doesn't have a spot now that Jones is back.
Jennings, Driver, Jones, Nelson, and Cobb are all locks. The story was a great puff piece that we see every year. He sounds like a really good character person, so I hope he does well enough to make the PS or another team's roster.

With Jennings, Driver, Jones, Nelson, and Cobb, Swain's already been replaced.

This might end up being untrue. If he really shines, or if he can contribute on a lot of units, we might keep him over one of the tightends, or we might cut QJohnson. Never say never. That said, yeah, he's going to need a heck of a preseason.

I'm personally a bigger fan of the Hammer than the average fan is. He packs a punch and (I think) is gifted as a run blocker--something the Pack has few of on the O-line. I think he's one of those players who's underappreciated because he doesn't do anything flashy. Just my opinion.

Hope you are right. Tired of seeing that loser still out there. He is not the reincarnation of Jarrett Bush.

I actually see the guy getting cut. They have Kuhn and 3 tailbacks. plus Q came into camp out of shape. Doesn't bode well for him. Kuhn can do all the FB duties and they can run a TE back there as well in those 2 FB sets MM loves.

Buck Russel: "I wouldn't be drinking if I was going to entertain some kids. You know?"

Pooter-the-clown: "I don't have to take this shit from you. Do you know who I am? In the field of local, live, home entertainment, I'm a GOD!"

Buck Russel: "Get in your mouse, and get out of here."

When I saw this post, I was willing to bet my life Lori Nickel wrote the story. Add an unplanned pregnancy, a second family in another NFL town, and you've got yourself a movie for the Lifetime network.

Shaky got the smallest UFA signing bonus of anyone we picked up - $1000.
