He's coming off of knee surgery and may not be back until mid season. I don't think it's all that big of a deal.

Jeff George is available as well, according to Whitlock.

Maclin's mysterious illness gets weirder by the day. Makes me wonder if "mono" is going to turn out to be something real like lymphoma.

I was close. I assumed you were trying to make your point by NOT quoting from Macbeth:

Smith's but a walking shadow, a poor player,
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage,
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.

but, but...Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are dead!

What a piece of work is Smith! How noble in
fooball knowledge! how infinite in athleticism! in route running and blocking!
how express and admirable! In action how like a Pro Bowler!

ok. I just jumped the shark.

When John Facenda died, they should have forgotten about finding another voice of God spokesmodel and gone Shakespearean.

I thought the same thing when George Burns died.

Ever heard the 'Deep Voice Guy' from CBC radio?

I've been hearing that Smith's injury has healed pretty well, and he should be ready to go sooner rather than later. He'll probably be getting back near 100% around midseason. Apparently the Giants were playing up his knee injury to scare teams away from signing him.

That backfired, if that is indeed the case.

No, I have not had the pleasure. But I will admit that the deep voice guy who does the Westwood One voiceovers frightens me.

It's a morning news and current affairs show called 'The Current.
Go to http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/ and listen to a podcast or two. He comes on right after the theme music with some sort of a wisecrack about a current event.

Best recent one is http://www.cbc.ca/thecurrent/episode/2011/08/04/biological-bias/
Hilarious, you have to listen to it. It's about Obama's birthday! One of the best cracks I've heard lately.

Great voice - if you listen to his stuff from this week though, I think he's got a cold

Eagles might not even make the playoffs. Teams figured out how to stop Vick before he left and they will again. I believe the cowboys will win that division.

The Eagles can't really do anything unless Vick plays out of his mind and the Eagles jump out to a big lead. That defense just can't line up in base and stop people. They have their DEs lined up crazy-wide to rush the passer, but they have neither the DTs nor the LBs to make that work against the run, and they have good CBs but they just don't have safeties to hold up in pass defense unless pressure gets there.

The Eagles script is pretty much "Jump out to a big lead because Vick plays awesome, and then play nickel and rush the passer" I don't think things turn out well insofar as they deviate from that script.

Not quite the right thread to bump...but what happens now, with Vick likely out for at least a while? Can this team hold it together on offense?

Interesting that Kafka, who is supposed to be 3rd string, came in instead of VY. Is he the actual back up QB, and will get the call if Vick can't start? Why is VY designated #2 then? Is there a situation they might want to bring him in for? This could also be an ego thing, we know he has a fragile one - maybe if they put him 3rd on the depth chart he would sulk.

I think Young is nursing an injury.

It's a long road, fellas. To early to say Vick is this or that, or this team's done. We learned that last year after the Pack lost to Detroit.

Actually, I think he's just still too busy changing the game from the bench to be bothered with playing football.

His brain might be hurting having to learn a new system.
