The man known as Larry (the Legend) Johnson died of pneumonia early Wednesday, according to his family. He was 78.
Johnson long ruled the airwaves as the top jock in the market, including at WISN-AM and WZUU-FM. He stood out for both his distinctive Southern accent and his banter, including the way he liked to tell people to "Speak your onions."
For the record, his real name was Aaron Rockwell Johnson.
Services are being planned for Tuesday. Look for a full feature obituary on The Legend in print and online editions Thursday.
