Two days after suffering a stroke, Leroy Selmon passes away at the age of 56.

One of the best ever who would have been far more famous if he had played for a more successful franchise.

That's really sad. He was on the level of Bart Starr to folks down in Tampa. Good role model. He will be missed.

That's a shame. I was really very happy to learn that those initial reports were false and that he was still putting up a fight. Rest in peace, old rival.

Imagine how awesome he would have been on a team worth a crap.

3 thoughts come to mind....

-- A talented, hard-working guy who seemed to have his professional and personal lives together.
-- The football player who supposedly was never knocked off his feet (while at Oklahoma).
-- And those god-awful uniform colors with an icon that looked like an early LGBT supporter.

He was very good and fun to watch. Switzer called him the best player he ever coached. That Tampa D was very good and took that terrible franchise to the playoffs one year ('79?).

The guy would have been a more noteworthy career if he was on a better team. That being said, he was a brick wall to run against and a pain to block vs. the pass.

Sad that he was ko'd by a stroke. Sounded like he was starting to recover initially. RIP.
