http://www.coveritlive.com/templates/coveritlive/images/spacer.gifI wouldn't say that Carolina is playing poorly. They're taking it to the Packers. :-)

Jimx29
09-18-2011, 01:53 PM
that's a td...

Jimx29
09-18-2011, 01:53 PM
that's a td...f'n mm
dumbass

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 01:53 PM
fucking Finley

mmmdk
09-18-2011, 01:54 PM
Grant's playing just fine. Starks is a better back though, IMO.

I love having them both; even eager to see Green.

gbgary
09-18-2011, 01:54 PM
that's a td...just like johnson's was last year.

Joemailman
09-18-2011, 01:55 PM
that's a td...

No it isn't. Learn the rules.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 01:55 PM
I hate that stupid rule.

mmmdk
09-18-2011, 01:56 PM
that's a td...

Yes...but in another dimension!

pbmax
09-18-2011, 01:56 PM
Not according to the rule as its written and they are choosing to interpret it. This rule is all about making it easier on the refs.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 01:57 PM
I'll love the rule as soon as it benefits us on the fields. I don't remember that happening though.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 01:58 PM
Slowest developing screen ever.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 01:59 PM
What happened to the ball with Smith?

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 01:59 PM
a gift from Smith...maybe he's got money on this game..that looked bad.

Jimx29
09-18-2011, 01:59 PM
No it isn't. Learn the rules.

It's retarded "rule"

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:00 PM
love it when we do that.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:00 PM
Great play by Chuck but what was Smith doing?

Nice route to the middle of a zone. Weird.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 02:01 PM
Not that it matters now but how on earth did they give Williams a first down on that screen pass. He was a full yard short, easily.

Tony Oday
09-18-2011, 02:01 PM
A bounce actually went our way!?

Fritz
09-18-2011, 02:02 PM
That man was wide open.

Lucky break for the Pack. Now let's see if they can take advantage of it.

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:02 PM
nice run! love it

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:02 PM
Don't care if he has a top gear. Love Starks!

Love the inverted wishbone.

King Friday

Again...I really don't want to see Grant anymore.

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:03 PM
This thread is a nice example of how thin the line is between the ecstatic fans of a dynasty and the irate fans of an underachieving bunch of ne'er do wells.

lol

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:03 PM
keep running. we are getting good yards almost every carry. pull them safeties up and hit em later.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:03 PM
wonder if they told Grant "we are going to not block someone when you have the ball so you can soften them up" before the season started"? Or does it just look that way?

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:03 PM
Again...I really don't want to see Grant anymore.

I'm all for the 2 backs splitting carries. Keep them fresher and hopefully healthier.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:05 PM
A good example of why you shouldn't lead with your head for a hit.

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:06 PM
damm...fin layed him out.

MadScientist
09-18-2011, 02:06 PM
Finley is too big for a the safety. I'd say the other guy will remember that hit, but I don't think he can.

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:07 PM
Kuuuuuuhn....I thought he was going in

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:08 PM
come on. spread em out and RUN.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:08 PM
Don't think that was back shoulder unless Jordy ran the wrong route.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 02:09 PM
I still don't understand the empty formation at the goal line. Can someone explain how that gives you and advantage?

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:09 PM
o needed a td there.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:10 PM
What was the deal with that kick?

KO coverage seems to have benefited from Ryan Taylor's return.

Brandon494
09-18-2011, 02:10 PM
WTF kinda of a play call is that? 5 wide from the 2 yard line?

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:10 PM
Great coverage by Burnett.

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:10 PM
I still don't understand the empty formation at the goal line. Can someone explain how that gives you and advantage?
yeah..idk. I'd like to see them keep a back in there to maybe check down to.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:11 PM
Bush was thinking INT until the tip.

Guiness
09-18-2011, 02:11 PM
Just joining - looks like the Pack had a rough start, but have turned it around.

Tramon not playing? Who is the other CB? Is Woodson out there?

Tony Oday
09-18-2011, 02:12 PM
Best QB ever!

MadScientist
09-18-2011, 02:12 PM
Cam is getting sloppy now. Good.

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:12 PM
well...Newton had a decent 1st half when guys were running free.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 02:12 PM
Either our defense is playing differently or Cam has fallen off a cliff.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:12 PM
Yeah, now he is getting a little wild. But this kid can play QB.

Bush got juked while in coverage.

Jimx29

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:13 PM
Just joining - looks like the Pack had a rough start, but have turned it around.

Tramon not playing? Who is the other CB? Is Woodson out there?

Yep, Wood with 2 INTs and Shields and Bush in nickel. burnett in coverage a lot too.

MadScientist
09-18-2011, 02:14 PM
That should not have been roughing, even if it was against Aaron.

mmmdk
09-18-2011, 02:14 PM
I like this Burnett guy; say "thank you to TT" Stubby!

Brandon494
09-18-2011, 02:14 PM
As good as Cam is hes still a rookie and you need to run the ball to help him out.

Packers4Glory
09-18-2011, 02:14 PM
Starks gets hit good...looked nasty.

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:15 PM
we've pretty much stopped blitzing...just rushing four. staying home. it's turned the game around.

MadScientist
09-18-2011, 02:15 PM
Panther D is selling out for big hits and getting hurt because of it.

Jimx29
09-18-2011, 02:15 PM
ferchristsakes....people dropping all over the place. I don't think starks is coming back after that hit

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:15 PM

gbgary
09-18-2011, 02:21 PM
tds instead of fgs please.

Fritz
09-18-2011, 02:21 PM
Okay, the offense looks like a bunch of puds today. Four turnovers as gifts to them, and they get . . . field goals.

Guiness
09-18-2011, 02:22 PM
Stewart catching and running. Seems like he's wide open.

pbmax
09-18-2011, 02:22 PM
They brought pressure again and he went right to vacated area. If Stewart doesn't fall down turning around, its a first.

Fred's Slacks
09-18-2011, 02:22 PM
We seem to be taking control...So of course we'll have to give up a TD here in order to keep it close.

Onside kick here we come.

That was somehow unsatisfying even though it's a win on the road in the NFL. I'm being all fan-ley right now, I know, but man, the offense looked out of sync, the pass rush wasn't much, and why did Crosby spend part of the game on kickoffs squibbing it? Jaysus, just let him swing away and put it into the back of the end zone.

Also, I must say Finley's blocking sucked butt. He doesn't look like he even gives it his all.

And if you're going to be a half-assed blocker, then you better come down with that ball in the end zone and not let it squirt out like it did, J-Mike.

Rodgers looked off, too.

But if Finley's TD had counted, then the non-TD catch by Calvin Johnson last year looks even worse than it does now - and even now it smells.

The NFL has no clue, really, what exactly a catch is any more.

Not sure, but perhaps they ruled that the defender knocked the ball out after he had controlled the ball. It's obviously a bad rule.

Maybe if you are talking about late game, midfield decisions. But this game was not an example of that. It was full of red zone miscues by the guys on offense. It wasn't a failure of nerve, tactics or strategy; they simply were not making plays. For example, Nelson running a route and Rodgers expecting and throwing something else.

Sometimes you have to be able to win even if you're not having a good day. This was one of those days. Can't be better than 2-0 after 2 weeks.

On the other hand, I get the sense the Packers aren't communicating as well on defense as they did a year ago. Burnett is a better talent than Peprah, but was the secondary a more cohesive unit with Peprah in there?

I think they suffered from lack of tape on Newton and this offense. Both the franchise-to-be QB, the O and D coordinators and the HC are new. Though the Packers should have been able to figure out McDermott's D earlier. They beat it twice last year in Philly. Maybe a hybrid with Rivera.

Just saw a replay of the Jennings 42yd td pass.

Rodgers throws a beautiful deep ball, but that was all Jennings. How can he be that open?

One thing I was looking for in this game was if Newton would force the ball to Steve Smith. SS got his yards, but Woodson fooled Newton twice and came up with the INT's. Woodson isn't the cover corner he was anymore, but he's as savy as they come out there.

I thought Carolina was very well prepared and had the upper hand early. I thought the Packers adjusted pretty well though as the game went on. Defensively, I think the Packers decided to stop the Carolina running game and gamble that Newton couldn't beat them. If so, they were right even though they gave up a lot of yards.

Offensively, I thought Rodgers was a little off, and the O-Line had 4 holding penalties. Not sure you can pin that on the OC. It did seem that the Packers were having trouble getting anyone open in the 1st half. that did seem to improve as the game went on though.

They played a lot of base 3-4 early, I think this was a part of the game plan early. What changed was coverage on the TEs, which is one reason why the WRs got so much play late.

I don't think much changed on this front. They ran 16 times versus 30 pass attempts (this doesn't include sacks). And McCarthy has run play action enough before to prompt some in this forum to wonder why bother when the run isn't working.

But what did change is that the run game seems to be functioning (minus one Clifton non-block) and the fact that Carolina couldn't stop the run well at all.

i would like to bring up the two horrible roughing the passer calls in the game today.

i almost shit myself when i saw the replay of bishops hit. he hit cam about a tenth of a second after he released the ball, hit him with his shoulder right in the gut. that is a perfect hit

and then there was the greg hardy hit on rodgers, this one might have been even worse then the bishop call, all i could think was that it was a make up call

i think the nfl is at a point where they should put the red jersies on the qb's and not let anyone get within a 2 yard halo of him at any time

I was gonna start a whole thread about this topic. But maybe there isn't much more to say.

I just saw the same call in the New England game.

All the defenders are doing is tackling the damn QB in the midsection. They are not late hits. They arive a fraction of a second after the ball is released.

What the hell is the rule? It is a huge, random penalty for nothing. Infuriating. How are the pass rushers supposed to attack the QB, they can't know exactly when the ball will leave. Terrible. Worst change in football.

In the Buffalo/Oakland game, there was a hail mary at the end that was intercepted to end the game.

Fans left, teams went to the dressing rooms, no one knew the play was being reviewed! 9 minutes later, referee comes out to announce, to a 3/4 empty stadium, that he play was upheld.

Would have been hilarious (from where I'm sitting, not if I was in the parking lot trying to leave!) if it had been overturned, and they had to run another play!

Wow, what a nice play. First thing I noticed was that Nelson does have great long speed. He hit his top gear, and was really moving. That was a great block by Jennings, of course.

Second was the protection Rodgers had on that play. Clifton looked like he was dancing at his prom, and the backs did a great job picking up the safety blitzing on the other side. Middle of the line walled up.
