R.E.M. breaks up.
How many people were really aware that they are still a band?
I was a huge R.E.M. fan, loved them in the 80's. 90's albums are OK. Their CDs since 1999 have been just short of awful.
This has to be the most anti-climatic break up in the history of music. Unless maybe the reunited Pink Floyd is thinking of calling it quits.

Kinda makes you re-think the lyrics to "Pretty Persuasion," doesn't it??

I love all the early stuff....started losing interest in the new material at the start of the 21st century.
Life's Rich Pageant is fantastic...but I loved Document, Green, Monster...all of them had some great music.

Can you imagine the looks the then-23 year-old Iron Mike got when he was stationed in Central Texas and pulled up to the intersection next to the good 'ol boy listening to George Strait in his truck blasting this???
