Sorry for not posting during game. I'll through in a HELL YEAH for the W.

Too bad about Bulaga. Finley proving to be a BEAST. Grant ran motivated today.

Pep didn't play that well, Think Woodson should be playing safety a lot more.

The best thing (besides staying pace w/Detroit)??? Listening to Doug and OB, p and moan during their post game show on the SCORE in Chicago. When they get PO'd they're a riot to listen to.

3-0. Take a big jump in playoff positioning. Not worried about Lions - yet.

GJ, AR, Grant/Crabtree and FINLEY on Offense
Wynn, whole Dline, Burnett on Defense

It wasn't all that exciting - but a solid effort and a win on the road. Take it every sunday.

Is Grant just a hell of a lot better than Starks today, or is he getting better blocking?

I have been in Grant's corner since the preseason games. Too many folks here and on other forums have short memories and were all too ready to coronate Starks as our starter. Grant looked like this last year against Philly until he got hurt. We all saw how dreadful our running game was after that until Starks came off the PUP list.

The coverage guys running down the filed can't look for the ball. They figure Masthay mis-kicked it. They don't care, Hester is going to catch it and they have to cover him. That was a great fakeroo by the Bears. Had they scored, it would have been one of the most epic plays in Packer-Bears history. I almost wish it had worked - and the Packers still won - because it was such a clever, awesome trick, and was almost perfectly executed. Almost.

guys running down the field know where the ball is supposed to be going but the bears all went to the right so the Packers had to react to that. Packers need to plant someone behind the endzone and signal where the ball is actually going.

Wrong. Just kick the damn ball OUT OF BOUNDS. You are up 10 points with little time left, so the ONLY thing that gets the other team back into the game is a return. Kicking out of bounds is the only way to guarantee that does not happen.

Slocum is a boob.

It wasn't phantom. It happened very early in the play...well before the cameras switched over to cover the return. A Bears player grabbed the jersey of a Packer running downfield about 5-10 yards from the LOS. You can only see the penalty as the camera pans downfield from the punter immediately after the kick. You won't see it in the angles focused on the returners.

Von Miller looks pretty good so far and if they get Dumervil and DJ Williams back they'll have some pass rush. Bailey might be able to go. He and Dawkins are still better than many but they're getting long in the tooth. The Broncos are playing hard for Fox right now, and though they don't have anywhere near the talent the Packers do, they've been scrappy.

The Broncos are playing hard for Fox right now, and though they don't have anywhere near the talent the Packers do, they've been scrappy.

That doesn't win ball games, but it annoys the hell out of people:

Wrong. Just kick the damn ball OUT OF BOUNDS. You are up 10 points with little time left, so the ONLY thing that gets the other team back into the game is a return. Kicking out of bounds is the only way to guarantee that does not happen.

Slocum is a boob.

If you tell your punter to be sure and kick it out of bounds, you are risking a major shank. Give the Bears the ball at midfield with that much time left and you are still leaving them an open window for a comeback. The better solution is to have Masthay give an audible confirmation after the kick that the ball is indeed headed in the intended direction.

With Hester back there to return? I think never letting him touch it when they need two scores in about a minute is solid strategy, especially the way Cutler was scatter shot with his passing.

I would have said the same thing last January in the fourth quarter against Caleb Hanie. And that was against a well-oiled defense that wasn't in the habit of letting run of the mill guys like Davis run rampant through its secondary. You never know when a QB is going to suddenly catch fire--or just get lucky--so, if you have a punter who can do it, better to pin them deep when there is still enough time for two scores. I suppose it comes down to this: who do you trust more to do their job, your punter or your pass defense? Apparently the Packers trust Masthay, and based on recent results I have to agree.
