All I've got to say, is "wow". Way to persevere after Cliffy went out and missing Bulaga.

If the Rams don't come up with a miracle performance (or we lay a complete egg), we'll be at 6-0. Have tickets for next week's game, taking my oldest kid (her first Packer game). Should be fun.

D overcame a slow start. Rodgers looked like freakin' Houdini back there tonight. Any other QB would have been dead meat and he avoided the rush.

I don't think it's a question of can Rodgers maintain this level of play anymore, but rather can his receivers maintain their level and catch the ball? Finley needs to shut the fuck up for the rest of the season after dropping 3 passes. Driver, Jones, Starks all had drops, and Rodgers still completed 66%.

When a player makes comments about not getting enough passes, I expect more out of him than other players. If he's gonna complain, he's gonna have to make plays when he gets a chance. Three drops one a TD, one a big 3rd down, and yes, he dropped the 2 point conversion. Each of them the ball was in his hands and he dropped it. I expect him to make those plays, ESPECIALLY when he complains about not getting chances.

Well, if you are going to be that exacting then you have to correct the TD drop. He wasn't in the endzone and there was a defender right behind him.

That was not what Finley said. At all. Bolding is mine.

In fact, the situation you describe actually describes James Jones better, as he did complain about targets last year when concern about his drops increased.

Finley will be fine. It was a rare bad game. His hands will be fine.

Costas asked him about that before tonight's game and Finley acted like it was no big deal that he didn't get enough passes last week. The team is winning and he said "all is cool" or something to that effect. I don't think it is a big deal either. Don't we want our players to want the ball?

well, he obviously said something about the Packers needing to figure out how to get him more involved in the offense...so much so that he had a meeting w/ MM. Then he goes out there had has 2 drops, one an easy TD grab in what could have cost the team the game....To making a couple catches and acting like a complete attention whore tard for actually catching one. On the plus side, the picks the Falcons gave up for their shiny hood ornament ended up with the Browns, and if there's any NFL Franchise that could stand for lucking into some good draft picks because of somebody else's mistake it's the Browns 2.0, who have never really exceeded mediocrity at any point in their existence.

He said specifically that he wasn't happy being just a decoy and that they should have a plan to deal with double teams since at some point they would need him to overcome them.

Is he bellyaching about getting the ball thrown his way? Probably. Does he have a point? Possibly, though less likely if all WRs are healthy.

Is it a tantrum or demanding the ball? Nope.

still the point is, if you have a concern, voice it to the coach and A-rod privately and not the media. That sort of thing never really goes over well, esp after your offense just blew the doors off someone. It just makes you look like a selfish D-bag

Frustrated, that's probably an understatement, honestly," said Jennings. "You get frustrated in the game of football. Opportunities can be misconceived sometimes. Targets - they can be targets but they cannot really be targets. It's a game where, when you get an opportunity, you've got to make the best of it. We're going to make it happen."

I suspect they are just now beginning to realize what a gaff that was too. They mortgaged their future on a nice player but failed to address what was truly ailing them - their D.
Came here on the suggestion of a very good friend of mine last night after the game... him obviously a huge Packer fan and kicker of chins of those who talked trash on Favre back in the day lol...

I, myself, am a Falcons fan though (admittedly a bigger college football, Georgia Bulldogs fan)... but I have somewhat taken up cheering for the Packers over the years because of my friend and the team in general has been likable for me since Reggie White's days when I paid more attention to them.

Anyways... all that just to say the Julio Jones pick was loved by most simply because Atlanta is in SEC territory and few people didn't already know Julio as a very good player on a national title winning team at Alabama, which is only a couple hours away from Atlanta to begin with. Personally I love Julio Jones the player but absolutely hate the pick and I have all along. We had real needs on defense and we basically traded all our value for one player at a position that wasn't a real need... and we addressed our defense by signing castaway DBs from other teams and a vastly overrated DE from Minnesota.

So yeah... there may be a lot of outspoken people who just loooove that we picked up Julio Jones, but they are homers and extreme haters of their own team after a loss. I hated the pick and saw the potential for us to start the season this way. Our offensive coordinator wouldn't know a good gameplan or adjustments if it was handed to him... I have no idea how he became so highly regarded in the league... and our defense is a great player, a few really good ones, and like 7 completely interchangeable bodies. Frustrated doesn't begin to describe me on draft day.

Nice to have a reasonable opposing fan here again. We lost custody of the last one in the Favre divorce and we're still a little weepy over it. Note to folks: I did say reasonable. No one misses the Bears fans.

I totally agree with you. I was very happy - as a Packer fan - with what the Falcons failed to do in the offseason. The funny thing about the team is that Matt Ryan doesn't really throw a good deep ball at all - except off play action. The takes away from Jones' effectiveness.

If I owned a restaurant in Green Bay, or Atlanta I suppose, I would have a burger on the menu called the "Matty Melt." The subtitle would read, "looks great but tastes like shit." Matt Ryan in a nutshell.

That can be quite variable as you know Bretsky.

I thought Red went back to smoking because he was nearly calm during the opening of the game on the gameday thread. No call for anyone to be fired even down by 14 points.

That's OK, we got Danes, Mexicans, Canucks, and a whole pile of cheeseheads on this forum, ya know?

I happen to adore cats; our family cat is called Ronja as in classic novel by Astrid Lindgren: Ronja Robbersdaughter.

I'm sorry but fans complaining about Finley need to take their own advice and shut the F up!
Oh, so we cant say nothing now huh? Why is it that everything that you dont agree with is not a valid subject worthy of dicsussing? Can we talk about Cam "get right" Newton now?

Finley talks alot of shit. I like it but back it up! Rodgers fucking giftwrapped several throw only for Finley to drop a TD and a crucial 3rd down. Thats why I dont like that he celebrated the 3rd down at the end. He could have shocked us all and showed some humility. Dont get me wrong he is still loved but last night was a low point IMO. Never said that about any of his shit talking events either.

Haha I can imagine you were happy. Few teams were perceived to be on that upper level of the NFC and we, I guess, WERE one of them. We made a lot of moves but none that were very good, which is pretty uncharacteristic for GM Thomas Dimitroff to this point. Guess he thought he needed to make a big splash and it would put us over the edge or something... I don't know, but it's frustrating. Come to think of it, I haven't been too impressed with Dunta Robinson, either. He got away with a helmet to helmet on Driver... he's already been fined twice for it. SMH

I've had very few years to proudly say my Falcons were awesome. I savor them like uh...... good Falcons seasons lol...

I thought we had some brilliant spurts of playing above our head Sunday night on defense, but ultimately I think our defense just couldn't bail out an offense that kept on and kept on going 3 and out or stalling quickly. Genuinely thought we would get outright raped by that offense all game long, so I'm glad to some short extent that we led and kept it competitive into the 4th quarter.

Heard on the radio this morning that every time Green Bay has started 5-0 (like 6 or 7 times I think) in their history, they won a championship that season. I wish you guys all the success in the world, I really do pull for the Packers in every game but against my own. Hopefully we meet again in the playoffs... stinkin dirty birds have an uphill battle to make it, though.

Regarding Ryan, I totally agree... he doesn't have a Chad Pennington arm, but he's certainly not slinging it down the field either. He's got a decent arm, but he needs play action most of the time for the DBs to bite and get his receiver that extra couple of steps. Julio Jones is particularly good for our offense because he is a GREAT blocker and the running game is SUPPOSED to be our bread and butter. It just kills me how much we gave up for him.

Atlanta is an interesting team. A lot of people thought they'd regress this year. I looked at some of their talent, and thought they might surprise and still stay amongst the contenders in the NFC. Ryan is overrated but solid. Turner is getting older but solid. Gonzalez is still decent. The WRs have the potential to be good. Abraham and some others on defense. I thought their young LB'ing corps would take a step up. I haven't really watched them much, but it sounds like their OL and DL have not been good. They resigned most of their guys on the OL, but lost one of their starters from last year. Now, it seems like they are a little bit like the Vikings (albeit with a better QB). They have enough top end talent to fool you into thinking they are pretty good, but in the end their glaring holes offset the high end talent they have. I was wrong on the Falcons. I still think I'll be right on the Bucs, and that they'll regress a little this year before hitting their stride in years to come. It seems pretty clear now that the main challengers to the Packers will be the Saints and Lions.

Hard to disagree with your assessment there. I was not pleased that we let Harvey Dahl go AT ALL from our o-line... and we really didn't do much but move our backups into starting roles. Our LBs and safeties are about the only area I like, even though we really need another LB to lock down one of the will or sam spots so Sean Weatherspoon doesn't have to keep going back and forth to cover. Grimes is our best corner and 3 years ago he nearly got cut. Crazy how inconsistent our secondary has been since DeAngelo Hall temper tantrum'd his way out of town.

Vikings comparison feels very harsh to me, but it probably fits. I remember looking at our depth chart prior to week 1 and thinking man this could be a disappointing season, even commenting on it to one of my friends who agreed. I hope we turn it around and have a great season, but I won't polish a turd and pretend it's not a turd.

Hah! Man that game was something. After we beat Green Bay at the end of November I told my friend on here that I thought you guys would be fine if the team didn't take on any MORE injuries. I wasn't around any Packer fans at that time so I don't know what the common thought was on the Packers at that time, but I looked at that game and saw us being very fortunate to have won. Then the playoff game rolled around and I can even remember telling him that I had a bad feeling about the game before it started.

Talk about getting embarrassed on your home field... I can't forget about that game quick enough. :-(
