via PFT: ESPN’s QBR stat puts Tebow ahead of Rodgers (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/10/10/espns-qbr-stat-puts-tebow-ahead-of-rodgers/)

AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH AHA!

Normally I would defend to the death the right of a statistic or statistical analysis to get a weird result from a small sample size, but since ESPN has been hyping this thing as the new sliced bread, pffffffffffftttttbbb.:taunt:

What exactly factors into the QBR that allows a performance like Tebows to rate higher than Rodgers?

But, guys, "Tebow was more valuable yesterday than Rodgers." Even though he had only two completions beyond the line of scrimmage, and one of those was a bad pass that Brandon Lloyd caught in a miracle play on the sideline.

Jesus Christ, QBR is pathetic.

"Clutch". You get more points for throwing passes that travel a long way in the air, you get more points for throwing passes when you're trailing, or on third down, or in the fourth quarter, etc. TQBR is basically optimized for overemphasizing Tebow's 4/10 performance.

In one game ARod's passer rating went down 2 points while Tebow's skyrocketed. It obvious Tebow is the best qb in the league.

Deadspin weighs in. Criticizes PFT's read, which is fine, Florio doesn't do stats or subtlety, but gets the reasoning wrong.

Rodgers EPA (expected points added) was 16.7 (.37 per play) and Tebow's was 5.7 total, or .36 per play.
