FIRST!

I'm with a lot of people on this game. I don't think the Pack will go undefeated but I don't necessarily see how we lose to anyone with how well our offense is playing. It seems if we can get even a little pressure on Rivers we should be able to intercept him a couple of times. He has really been struggling this year. However, the major wammy is my dad is going to this game without me. Game over, we lose in a close nailbiter that ends with everyone being pissed off and shitting all over everyone else.

The curse is broken!

Boy, Aaron freakin' Rodgers was awesome. The overall pass defense...mixed bag at best. Special teams did their damndedst to imitate the Badgers from the past 3 games.

Yes, the 2 pick 6's were great. But the quick score after the botched onside kick recovery was lame.

Concerned about Claymaker's hammy, he was limping badly.

Turnovers are saving this defense right now.

That offense is absolutely smokin'. The pass to Jennings for the TD plus the laser on the run to Nelson are just jawdroppingly great.

Bring on the Queens!

you know the basic request to spy on your neighbours and report what you don't like. You know, the program East Germany used to great effect. The defense played horribly today except for the turnovers (which may be more on Rivers than great plays). What did Capers do for the last two weeks???

I shouldn't complain because we are still winning, however I see this coming back to bite us in the playoffs unless we learn to play just "average" defense.

pittstang5
11-06-2011, 07:01 PM
I really thought this D would play better after the bye. Especially against a banged up Chargers O-line and having fresher legs. Rivers is no slouch, but this D just can't generate pressure. Tunrovers are great, especially the pick 6's but that isn't always going to come our way.

Is Capers just using old stuff that everyone knows?

It's been said before, but I'll say it again. Our D is hurting this year because we have not been able to replace Jenkins. It now is pretty clear that letting Jenkins go was a mistake. I don't blame TT, it was a tough call, and lord knows Cullen's injury history was likely a factor.

But in the end, it was a mistake. We're seeing the consequence of his absence in our inability to get to the QB.

Compound that with Neal not being on the field. Even if Neal is 1/2 the player of Jenkins, they could use that 1/2 right now (without blitzing).

Possibly, whether it's Jenkins or whoever, the pass rush is definitely not the same. Kicker to all this, seems Jenkins is doing very good for the Eagles. Not that I wish him ill will, but it's one of those things, why couldn't he stay healthy for us. I didn't think he's make it out of Eagles training camp.

Never saw that ad. And the interest in streamed games has less to do with overreaching security apparatus in response to 9/11 than it does to reorganizing departments after Homeland Security became its own dept.

This team deserves a place in the history books; the 2011 Packers offense is close to ANY of the great NFL offenses throughout time. Packers defense needs to cure their illness and play with a purpose; let's bring the 5th Lombardi trophy to Green Bay. I'd hate to see this team fizzle into the Houston Oilers.

We're missing Collins and Jenkins right now. Raji is not the same pass rusher this year. (doubled a lot?)

Neal coming back, Tramon getting healthy and Burnett/Peprah getting on the same page could be enough to put them back on top. Starks missed his whole SR season in college with a shoulder, then missed much of his rookie year with the hammy. . . He came in, in the playoffs and gave us the running game we needed to dominate on offense.

There is no guarantee stamped anywhere saying the Packers pass rush/secondary will not improve.

JH is spot on. We miss Collins and Jenkins. We really don't have a pass threat on the DL so teams can focus on Raji more. My guess is next year we go CB and DL and LB early and often.

A couple other observations.

Woodsen mugs people a lot.
He gets away with a ton of illegal contact so it's hard for me to complain when he gets a call against him.
I hope we win another title with Ryan Grant this year so he can experience a title before we move on w/o him.

Woodson is really good at making it look like he didn't do anything. All of those calls were legit. Woodson just made them look better than they were.

The game is slow for him. He does things on purpose (clearly IMO) but he's great at making it look incidental. He's two clicks ahead of just about every player in the NFL with playing the little games within the game. He might get beat by a better athlete, but he does a lot of things that make up for it.

Jennings and Rodgers are our other two brilliant players IMO.

Unfortunately I think we thought we could let Jenkins go and plug in Neal in his stead but poor Neal is almost always injured. Yes, I'm using hindsight but the decision to let CJ walk was a mistake.

It isn't helping us to have Burnett one-handed either. He is still basically a rookie and we are missing Collins' LEADERSHIP back there.

Yeah but there were three calls against him that were dubious at best. Those penalties extended drives and gave the Chargers 10 points. If I'm Woodson, I am asking for an apology from the league. That was horse shit.

This.

Ryan Taylor had the best shot at that onside kick and it went between his legs somehow. Nelson had to fall/dive to reach it. Not sure why he thought batting it would be best, but Taylor should have had it first.

There was one penalty on Woodson that drives me crazy. Gates stopped in the middle of his route and Woodson doesn't stop in time so he runs into Gates and Woodson gets the flag. IMO it was GATES who initiated the contact, not the defender. But the DB rarely gets that call. :x

And the contact had nothing to do with the incomplete pass. Those are the worst imo/

Donno. It took a funny bounce right before Jordy slapped it so another one of our guys missed the ball there too. :-(

I think running into the recveiver, even if the receiver pulls a Road Runner on you gets a flag every time. Frustrating, but they are pretty consistent about that.

I do agree this would have been a better no call since that pass wasn't going to be caught after Gates stopped.

That was a heads up play by Gates. Receivers on the sidelines should do it more if they ball is overthrown. Just slow down and let the defender run into you.

That call is consistently made. Chuck is a professional mugger but he's very crafty and gets away with more than he's called for

In any rear-ender, the police always ticket for following too close.

Just so long as Woodson respects him in the morning.

and add to the situation that the ball was not catch able.

BTW....why wasn't everyone and their cousin on the sideline yelling at Peprah to sit his ass down!? In that situation after he had the pick, he should of been on the ground in the fetal position guarding the ball. period

No need to Ponder the notion that rookie Ponder will tear the Packers defense to pieces; thank goodness for Rodgers & our offense.

I hope the defense is embarrassed, if not, then it's because they know deep down that this is who they are.

Just thought I would add that it was Bishop who had the ball go through his legs on the onside kick, not Ryan Taylor.

I think they're a little embarrassed. Woodson sounded pretty down about the way the defense played. I'd be surprised if they don't play a lot better this week.

Peprah's friend told him he had a dream that Peprah would get a pick 6 with the game on the line. I think Peprah was trying to prove him right.

And no...I'm not making this up

No Charger was anywhere near him and he kept the clock running. But once he got into traffic he should have gone down.

I thought we got a similar call to what you're recommending earlier in the game.

Jordy drew a PI flag on a ball that seemed high and went OOB. When they showed the replay, the DB had grabbed his jersey earlier in the route, so it was a legit call. The holding obviously affected the route, but the ball looked uncatchable anyways.

I've got a question related to this - does that pass count as an incompletion? I'd guess no, because the penalty wipes out the play.

No it counts as nothing other than a penalty.

And to whoever said the ball went through Bishop's legs on the onside kick, it actually didn't. It was number 82, which is in fact, Ryan Taylor.

looks like the game is on nfl network's instant replay tonight/this week.
