I am hearing that Jennings has torn his MCL. If this is true, he will be out 4-8 weeks. Best case scenario, he could be back for the first playoff game.

Oohh...time for Nelson to show his talents, James Jones to show why he got resigned, Cobb to show his abilities, Driver to show he's still got it, and Finley to show why he deserves a big contract.

GJ could barely walk; season close to over. Others must step up...big task as GJ is so reliable which Finley or even budding star Cobb are not.

Actually it's pretty much a rumor still. PFT reported the current chatter is that Jennings has a torn MCL. and everybody else is referring to what PFT said.

Considering Jennings demeanor on the sidelines, there is no reason to doubt it.

I fully expect not to see Jennings until the Super Bowl at the earliest.

RashanGary
12-11-2011, 10:04 PM
Grade 3 is most severe. 6 weeks before he can really practice. That would put us at the Monday after the NFCC game for him to start practicing. Two weeks to get ready for the SB. That's doable.

We have to get there first, of course.

Sucks.

RashanGary

Grade 2 tear and he could be ready by playoff game 1.

GJ finds a way. He's been a fast healer and a very durable guy.

I wouldn't be shocked if we see him in playoff game one. I would be shocked if he was done for the season.

Yeah, that did not bode well. What was most troubling (as a fan) was not that he seemed to be in a lot of pain (easy for me to say) but that he seemed emotionally distraught. As though he knew it was bad and was really upset about that.

Here's hoping that he heals up, for his sake first and the Team's sake second and our's last.

Justin has a point about the "tear". A sprain of any grade is a tear. The question is how bad, what degree? Until they tell us, we only have Jennings reaction to tell us.

Lurker64

MCL tears are not 4-8 weeks. Grade 3 MCL tears are 4-8 weeks. Grade 2 MCL tears are 2-4 weeks. Grade 1 MCL tears are ~1 week.

Matt Forte tore his MCL last week, but it was a grade 2 tear, which means he may be back before the end of the season.

If you're going to tear one knee ligament, the MCL is the one you want to tear. It just gets better on its own with rest, no surgery is required.

from the way he looked during the play i'll say it's 1 or a 2. there was nothing overtly wrong about the way his knee moved. he was giving a thumbs up as he was carted off. i'll play mr. positivity here.

Just something to think about for all of you who want Driver to get 10k so bad. On the drive where Jennings got injured, Rodgers had Nelson wide open for a TD on the first play of that drive. Instead of throwing to him for the easy TD, he threw to Driver instead. Had he thrown to Nelson, we score and the play Jennings gets hurt on never happens.

Im looking at it like this: why didn't they immobilize his leg on the cart ride out? He was sitting on the edge with his legs just dangling over the side. That has to be a good sign doesn't it?

Don't know but the fact that the leg doesn't hurt dangling from the cart, well, that can be good or bad. I once tore an ACL [soccer] and it didn't even hurt.

Treatment of MCL tears:

http://orthopedics.about.com/od/kneeligamentinjuries/p/MCL-Treatment.htm

Concerning is the potential for a tear of the ACL AND meniscus. But as Mission pointed out, GJ had his knee bent on the cart. A bent knee is painful with a Grade III tear.

Cross our fingers.

i guess AR didn't see jordy in time, or at all. it's clear that the driver milestone wasn't a priority because they could have gotten it easily as he only needs 26+- yards.

Gosh, with each passing week this is starting to look like a charmed season. We lost Nick Collins. That was brutal, but Burnett is just starting to come on and Peprah had what looked like his best game yet. Walden is starting to play good football. All of our big players are going to be healthy for the playoffs. Even Jennings is going to have what looks like one full week of practice before the first playoff game. It's an opportunity to work Cobb and Jones in a little and maybe start working the big 4 TE sets in the bad weather games.

Starks is an important cog for us. If he has 2 weeks of full workouts to get his lower body strength up and then a "knock-the-rust-off" game before the playoffs and two good weeks of practice, we could be looking at a fully fresh RB on week 1 of the playoffs and a bonus cold weather mudder (Grant) to boot.

The Packers are poised to be a beast in the playoffs. Three more weeks. . . No injuries. . . . Continued steps on that DL and secondary like we've seen. . . . . . . Gotta cross our fingers. It's starting to come together.

Except Finley, of course.

Ain't you supposed to have a teardrop in front of your face?

I was about the post the same scenario Lurk. Gurley can take S'oto's place on ST + get regular roster experience and maybe a few game reps.
