I would but for a reasonable price. The gunner play has been great, he's improved (there was a lot of room for improvement) in coverage and I like his production on his pass-rush.

Special teams has sucked wind for years and you're going to be a cheapskate about the gunner that's helped it finally turn around? I'm not willing to go back to the "special" ST performances we endured before. Let's not believe that we can bring someone in and we'll just coach 'em up. That's a long, slow process around here.

He'll be affordable, and worth the investment. He's a capable #5 CB too. Not likely to find a better CB who also plays gunner. A CB who could be a #3 on our squad is probably too good to risk as a gunner on ST.

Bush also has experience at safety. He is a coaches dream on game day when setting the game day roster. One of your best ST players who is at least a reasonable back at both CB and safety. Besides, he is a bit of an oddity in that he seems to be improving each and every year.

He still makes me nervous in the defensive backfield whether it is at corner or safety but his special teams play really is special and his versatility is second to only to Woodson in our scheme so we should keep him. Barring, of course, some team paying him starter's money.

Hell no....he is at that age where he has had every chance to develope as a CB and hasn't. That roster spot is for a guy who might develope so....in with the new young guy.

It may all come down to what position Bush really wants to play in the NFL. If he thinks he's good enough to be a starting CB or safety and some other team offers that opportunity and cash, he's gone. The same thing happened with Desmond Howard. He wanted to be a wide receiver and the Raiders gave him the opportunity and cash. His greatest value to a team was his return ability but he wanted the chance to prove himself as a receiver. Didn't work out too well for him as far as being a receiver and Green Bay has been trying to fill his return role for almost a decade. TT has a very tough decision to make on this one. You don't want to lose a special teams ace but you can't overpay for that position also.

No. He is a HUGE liability in pass coverage and for all the talk I hear about him being "a good blitzer" I can't remember the last time he got a sack.

He is a special teams player, nothing more.

An undrafted free agent could replace him.

Both these guys have failed to develope and if I know my TT (and I think I do) he won't waste a roster spot on them next season. Its out with the middle aged guys who never developed and in with the young ones who might.

The players like him, IIRC. A few have stepped up in support over the years.

At the end of the day, only 3 possibley 4 spots are guaranteed to specialists on ST's: K, P, LS and maybe PR/KR.

Some teams have K for kick offs only! Heck, anyone remember when the Packers had 2 Ps? My football knowledge is far to lacking to judge if "gunner" has a major impact and if it needs to be a specialist.

Someone mentioned that Lee and Bush are the best gunner tandem in the league and while I haven't studied gunners much lately, I find that to be a believable claim. I don't know what that's worth, but it's not a lot. I bet M.D. Jennings and Davon House could do it OK too with some practice.

Bush's biggest problem is he just seems to find his way onto the field too much on defense. I'd let him walk this time if he gets any offer at all, though I'd take him back if there turns out to be no market for him. Someone will probably throw him a bone or two to play nickel. I hope it's a team on the Packers schedule next year.
