View Full Version : To All The "EXPERTS"

I AM GETTING FRUSTRATED ABOUT HEARING HOW GREAT SOME TEAMS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE AND HOW MUCH BETTER THEY ARE THAN LAST YEAR. THESE TEAMS GOT A COUPLE WASHED UP FREE AGENTS AND "BOOM" THEY ARE SUPER BOWL CONTENTERS! EXAMPLE; I'VE BEEN HEARING THE EXPERTS TALK ABOUT DONTE CULPEPPER AND THE DOLPHINS. I'VE HEARD 11-5, 10-6, AND EVEN 12-4! HOW DOES AN INJURED QB WITH A HORRIBLE SEASON LAST SEASON TURN A TEAM TO GREATNESS? YET, THE PACKERS ARE SUPPOSED TO STAY HORRIBLE. "THEY WON'T HAVE A BETTER RECORD THAN LAST SEASON". OH, REALLY??? DO THEY THINK THAT OUR 2ND STRINGERS WERE JUST AS GOOD AS OUR STARTERS LAST SEASON??? WHEN FAVRE THROWS 60X A GAME; IT'S NOT HARD TO KEY ON OUR GAMEPLAN. IT'S ALSO NOT HARD TO THROW 29 PICKS WHEN YOU'RE THROWING UP PRAYERS GOD DOES NOT ANSWER. AT LEAST 10 OF THOSE PICKS WERE OUT OF DESPIRATION FOR A WIN LATE, AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO WRITE OFF FAVRE BECAUSE OF HIS "INACCURACY & FOOLISH DECISIONS". HE WAS TRYING TO HELP WIN FOOTBALL GAMES, NOT PRESERVE AND ENHANCE HIS STATS. MAYBE HE SHOULD BE LIKE "BIG BEN" AND THROW 10X A GAME AND STILL BE GLORIFIED AS A GREAT QB.

SORRY GUYS... HAD TO VENT A LITTLE

Good rant. As I was told several times over the last couple of days, "That's why they play the game." Prognostication is just pillow talk until followed up by action. (Sounds like a line from a porno.) Does that make sense? Probably not. You get the idea.

I don't know about this tendency of some posters to scream in ALL CAPS though. A bit disturbing if you ask me. We may want to see if we can bring a psychologist into the mix at Packer Rats, help out the distressed fans of the Green & Gold.

Breathe. Or don't. Totally up to you.

I don't think this line of thinking existed anywhere on this board in the first few days of April when free agency started. Now in regards to Arrington, Bentley TT is laughing at the experts.

Yes, it did exist, it was just drowned out by all the critics.

I think the Packers are a below average team. But the games have to be played so you never know.

It'll be a season of constant growth but I don't think it will be enough to win more than 7 games.

The only reason I hope the Dolphins succeed is because I am sick and tired of hearing about the Patriots and all there greatness even though they harldy win a game by a convincing margin and have never won a superbowl where they were the certainly the better team, only the team who happened to score last.

I just hope I dont have to see to much of that lame ass barrel roll that cullpepper does. I saw they even put that in Madden 2007 video game. Horrible stuff!

Speaking of the barrel roll, I saw Viking rookie QB Tarvaris Jackson doing the same bit Monday night. Hopefully that doesn't continue. I have nothing against Daunte personally, but never could stand that damn barrel roll.

It's fun to make predictions, but not so much when all you do is predict more of the same. Which is basically what the "experts" do. They pick pretty much the same teams to make the playoffs as the previous year, and then they pick one or two "sleeper" teams which, yes, are mostly based on highly overrated FA acquisitions. Last year, it was Arizona and Oakland. Oh yeah, and the Vikings and Eagles were the most frequently cited contenders for the NFC Super Bowl representative. This year, we are hearing Miami, and maybe Dallas and Arizona again.

In many cases it's safe for the experts to make these lame prognostications; often it's laziness. It's easy to say a team is going to be better for some simple reason like a major FA acquisition without doing a lot of analysis.

But I guess that's what makes the NFL so great. No one knows what's gonna happen. Least of all the experts.

No Mo -- what's wrong with Arrington, other than the fact that he was overpaid?

Since you brought up Jackson I thought I would comment on that.

Anyone else think the Vikings have found there next star QB? Man that guy can scramble and throw a nice soft touch and gets the long ball down the field. Fans seemed to take to him pretty fast as well. Of course being Vikings fans I am sure they will turn on him in a heartbeat. Didnt see him do the barrel roll. If I had I am sure my impression of him probably would have been more negative! Common kid, think of something of your own and make sure it doesnt suck!
