the 49ers will not be handed 5 turnovers next week

weren't the saints one of the other "worst d's" in the nfl this year? the niners did jack shit on offense with all that great field position.

brees on the saints O had a horrible game and still almost won

i'd much rather play san fran then the saints next week

gotta beat nyg first. don't poke at the gods.

That's the key. Not taking anything away from SF but you can't honestly tell me you'd rather play the the Saints.

3 TDs 0 INTs 300 yards with a 103.2 QB rating, yea very mediocre.

he should have had 2 or 3 int's though. the saints secondary can't catch anything. even their own coach said so before the game. our d might be one of the worst right now, but we know how to grab those opportunities when they are presented

Has Alex Smith ever played an NFL game in freezing conditions? He doesn't impress me as a guy who will have great accuracy in less than ideal conditions.

YES. the saint might be a dome team, but the 49ers are a fair weather team.

with san fran, you have to worry about davis burning you, and thats about it other then gore and the run. smith and the other receivers aren't all that special

the saint passing game, dome or not, scared the hell out of me, dome or not. our secondary sucks this year and they have many guys that can burn you. and i wanted nothing to do with that quick little fucker sproles

lets also not forget one possible huge factor

If we beat NY

its pretty damn clear these days that a-rod has carried a grudge over smith being taken first in the draft and rodgers falling all the way to us. rodgers migh have an extra spark and some more motivation to completely light up the team that passed him up

Wait - that sounds like OUR much maligned defense.

That's it! Rodgers has been exorcising demons since he started this run last December: Eagles (4th and 26), Falcons (Vick shredding) last year. Giants (playoffs 2007) at Lambeau in January and Alex Smith (Personal) this year.

Broncos in the superbowl might be a stretch, though.

SF was GIVEN the game...and they had to work their ass off at the end to win it. With all those turnovers, it should've been a walk in the park for SF.

If SF had a better than pedestrian offense that game wouldn't have been close in the end.

Rodgers grew up in the far North of California and liked the Niners as a kid. That will motivate him.

Remembering the his draft. That will motivate him.

Playing at Lambeau will certainly motivate him.

He just completed a pass for first down on 4th and 3. Play action, and when he turned around, there were 2 linemen chasing him down - that was a successful play action???

hey...i've been trying to reel people in. lol

I remember many looked past the Giants in 2007, probably due to the Seattle game and the comeback from 14-0. Here's a recap:

Mike Holmgren and the Seattle Seahawks played the Green Bay Packers for a chance to play in the NFC Championship game. The Packers beat the Seahawks 42-20. Ryan Grant fumbled twice in the first 69 seconds, the turnovers led to an early 14-0 Seahawk lead. Grant redeemed himself by running for 201 yards and three touchdowns - both franchise play-off records (Ahman Green had run for 156 yards in a 2004 playoff game).[77] Brett Favre went 18-for-23 for 173 yards and three touchdowns, two to Greg Jennings, joining Joe Montana as the only passers in league history with 5,000 yards in postseason play.[78] Other Packer team records set during the game include most points in a game with 42, most touchdowns with six, and most first downs with 25

As a fan we can be cocky pricks all we want. Just so long as the pack keeps their minds on the giants! If they don't it will be Bretsky's fault.
