15-1 ends up meaning nothing other than a footnote in the Packers record book.

It will sting even more when Rodgers hoists the MVP trophy with nothing to show for it. I think he will be just as motivated to play well after the season ending like this.

We will need to retool the defense to have any shot at redemption.

I knew repeating would be difficult and enjoyed the ride this year. Sorry to see it end this way.

I thought in pregame... turnovers and execution. Didn't do either. Really pretty simple way to lose. Feel bad for Grant.... that was pure microcosm of this game. What a fucking way to end it. The near TD for Arod - instead a fumble. The clear pass to Finley - instead a 4th down sack on next play.

Had a bunch of chances. Just didn't have it tonight.

Need Aaron 'Tebow' Rodgers right now.

After winning the Super Bowl last season, the Packers didn't do anything to address the defensive personnel. They stuck with the status quo for this year and the end result was an absolute mess.

If anything, early elimination this year will force Thompson to address the talent on the defensive side of the ball .... he might even have to make a splash in free agency !?!?!

This still is a young and very talented team. The Packers comeback hungrier and better next year. (Though, I would like to see Capers somewhere else next year ....)

This team just wasn't as good as last year's team. They had a better record but weren't balanced like they were last year.

You don't have to be the #1 defense but you can't be giving up 400 to 500 yards per game either.

the notes about the defense are all well and good, but that defense played mediocre tonight, at least.

The offense was bad enough to beat down any defense.

The defense played reasonably well minus the Hail Mary. The offense played horribly. We had 13 points with 5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

Did you know there was a draft? And a recovering Mike Neal?

Saying this now is like predicting weather the day after.

Who did we draft that contributed anything on defense this year???? Davin House? DJ Smith??
Thompson overestimated the talent on the defensive side of the ball. Granted losing Collins and Jenkins hurt but there are some really glaring holes on the defensive side of the ball.

If your first pick on defense is in the fourth round (supplemental pick) and your next three defensive picks are two sixth round picks (one cut); a seventh round pick (IR'd) and putting your faith in a "healthy Neal" who has proved absolutely nothing .... then YES, your overestimating your talent level on defense.

Man, that must have been some bong, dude. LOL - 300 yards rushing. 30 more like. Packer will have to score 40+ to win. Packers 42-38, optimistically. Giants 35, Packers 21 realistically. Too much uncertainty/rust in key positions: Clifton, Bulaga, Jennings, Woodson, Williams, Shields, Bishop, all big question marks for this one.

That Rand guy seems pretty smart. Check out the post game thread for answers to your questions.

Dude, this team was dead last in defense!!!! They gave up over 411 yards per game!!! They have lots of problems on the defensive side of the ball and if not addressed, there won't be raising the Lombardi Trophy again anytime soon.

Don't forget a couple of bad throws by Rodgers that Aikman did his best to try and hold receivers responsible. Rodgers had a very unRodgers like game and it is the reason the Packers lost. Rodgers exremely high level of play this season covered up a lot of problems.

It seemed like there were a lot of plays where Arod had plenty of time that did not result in a completion. Was Arod looking downfield and passing up the underneath stuff (Sometimes his greatest weakness, in my opinion), or was there really just no one open?

Whatever went wrong between ARod and Finley on 3rd and 5 was compounded by the fact that he threw the ball a lot harder than he needed to. Batting practice tempo would have been sufficient. My uneducated opinion is to split the blame: give 65% to ARod, 35% to Finley.

Did anyone notice Stark's poor play? He half-assed a blitz pickup (4th and 5 after Arod and Finley failed to hook up?), he seemed to go the wrong way or be a step slow on that play when ARod ran a keeper, and he failed to come up with the screen pass that ARod overthrew ever so slightly. I thought Grant looked great on the first play, and was surprised not to see MM go back to him. Even more so when Starks started showing up in all the wrong ways.

That throw to Finely was all on Rodgers, Aikman tried to make Rodgers look good with his comments afterwards. The throw to Jennings on the first series of the game was a mix up. Rodgers saw Jennings break free and threw it to his outside shoulder away from the safety. Jennings turned to the inside and got spun around.

Rodgers seemed to always be off a couple degrees from the normal pinpoint accuracy we're used to. That wasn't they whole reason for all the drops and off throws, but it sure as shit didn't help. 2 full weeks w/o any contact when you're not injured just seems foolish....especially now.

Capers needs to be on the next train out of GB. First thing Monday a.m. wouldn't be too soon.

Yes on each example but he also ran hard and had a couple of nice runs for first downs, including a nice screen. I thought it was the first game in a long while that both he and Grant looked like themselves. He got blown up in the blitz pickup by a pretty decent backer and lack of contact for a few weeks showed.

But he was like the rest of the offense. It was all off sync by half a step or second. O line protected well but couldn't give Rodgers extra time unless he bailed. RB ran well (though not often enough perhaps) but had a fumble. Receivers did not seem on the same page as Rodgers and dropped a few. Rodgers was pressing, esp. in the second half. Any of those items clicks into place, the offense would have gotten out of its own way.

Aaron Rodgers demonsrtated his humanness. I still though he did his best to compensate. The best player on 'O' was on the sidelines most of the game. Donald Driver and we may have seen him in his last game as a Green bay Packer inspite of what he did that was positive when given the opportunity. I felt really bad for DD and Aaron Rodgers.

Damn our team sucked yesterday. It's really strange to me that MM felt that he had done his part to prepare the team and would have to look at it all to see what went south. Didn't he see the game the way the rest of us did? He has a house that simply needs some major renovations.

Yes, Jennings clearly found an unexpected hole in coverage and tried to sit down in it and Rodgers expected him to bend it.

Finley ran a similar route and a similar hole in their zone, though it seemed less deep. Rodgers just never seemed to have a handle on where the coverage was going to be, his best opportunities were matchups and several of those were dropped/misfired.

I know what you're saying about running hard, but it seemed to me that Starks regressed in the second half of the season. I distinctly remember at least three different occasions in the last six weeks of the season where he went the wrong way or wasn't where ARod was expecting him to be on a running play, and in each case Rodgers had to keep the ball. When Starks misses practice because of injury, his game performances really suffer--not for lack of effort but because he blows assignments. Maybe that is just a function of youth and inexperience. For all of Brandon Jackson's limitations, I think the Packers ended up missing him this year, much more than I thought they would.

The Browns missed him even more - because he was lost FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON due to injury. And yes, Starks regressed after suffering a severe ankle sprain. So did Jennings after his knee sprain. Collins' performance took a severe dive after his neck injury too.

What's funny to me today is that all week, the talk was about how New York could win with their fierce pass rush and ability to run the ball. They won for a lot of other reasons, but not those.

The Packers ran the ball for 143 yards and a 6.4 average. They held the Giants to 3.5 yards per carry. The Packers had the edge in TOP 30:25 - 29:35, were more efficient in the red zone (67%-40%), were equal on 3rd down conversions (50%). Just looking at those numbers you'd think Green Bay controlled the game.

The Giants had 4 sacks but they barely touched Rodgers until the 2nd half when Green Bay was in a hole and clearly started looking for longer passing plays.

Green Bay also got killed in the hidden yardage game. Turnovers and some poor decisions gave the Giants an average starting position of their own 42 vs GB's of their own 26. Pretty hard to win a ballgame when giving 176 extra yards to the other team.

In the first half 4 guys were plenty to pressure Rodgers & gave Giants more cover guys. And man it worked! The blitz packages came in the second half. If Packers O-line (ever) looks good it's solely due to Rodgers; if TT doesn't acknowledge this plus upgrades on D then cherish that one SB win from last 'cos that's all you're gonna get in the AR era. Unless the above mentioned is addressed.
