Despite moving well at times in the pocket, Aaron Rodgers (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/aaron-rodgers-PESPT00008904.topic) isn't a "dancer," as he says in one of a series of State Farm ads. The Green Bay Packers (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/green-bay-packers-ORSPT000042.topic) quarterback is, however, the most marketable player in the NFL, according to a SportsBusiness Daily survey.
The paper polled 50 people in the fields of marketing, branding, sports academia and football media and the Super Bowl (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/super-bowl-EVSPR000004.topic) XLV MVP came out on top.
“You first have to have success for people to even care about you,” said Preston Bounds, who wrote the article for SBD. “When you do end up in ads and you're a natural on camera and you have a sense of humor and you're not stiff, that really solidifies it. Now they know, ‘This guy works as an endorser.'"
Rodgers utilizes his "good guy" persona well, endorsing Nike, Ford dealers, Prevea Health, Associated Bank and others. He edged Patriot quarterback Tom Brady (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/tom-brady-PESPT000789.topic) 149-143 in the voting. The Indianapolis Colts (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/indianapolis-colts-ORSPT000044.topic)' Peyton Manning (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/peyton-manning-PESPT004609.topic) was third and the Denver Broncos (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/denver-broncos-ORSPT000040.topic)' Tim Tebow (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/tim-tebow-PESPT008528.topic) was fourth.
Brady, who leads the Patriots (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/new-england-patriots-ORSPT000192.topic) into the Super Bowl on Sunday vs. the New York Giants (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/new-york-giants-ORSPT000197.topic), finished ahead of a slew of other quarterbacks in Peyton Manning (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/peyton-manning-PESPT004609.topic), Drew Brees (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/drew-brees-PESPT000008732.topic) and Tim Tebow (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/tim-tebow-PESPT008528.topic).
Peyton Manning, Brady and running back Reggie Bush (http://www.chicagotribune.com/topic/sports/football/reggie-bush-PESPT008576.topic) were 1-2-3 in voting the last time SBD conducted the survey in Sept. 2006.

Snake can't recall a Brady or Tebow commercial, but looks like Arod is the new Manning lately on the TV. Rodgers can be a funny bastard, but that Raji dance is the shizz...

But, according to Aaron himself, he IS a dancer. He is the self proclaimed dance king in that locker room. Never lost a dance off. That's what he says anyway. He says his favorite is the rave-style glowstick liquid dance that candy kids rage over - I'd love to see him go off rave-style in the next State Farm commercial! Set the record straight Aaron!
