I know you like Illinios' Mercilus because he was originally mocked in the 3rd but after talking to reporters he has been mocked to the 1st.

And if his nickname isn't Ming the, then I hold the entire Chambana population at fault.

Kirwan has Packers taking Kendall Reyes, a pick I've been hearing a lot lately. Hasn't been as well known as some because he played for UConn, but had a great Senior Bowl and Combine.

Nawrocki has a prety good reputation. Better than most draftniks, certainly better than Kiper or McShay. Mainly that covers the actually watching and digesting of game film. Predicting what lunatics like Dan Snyder or Mike Brown will actually do is more the realm of mystics and soothsayers to be honest.

The only other person I am aware of with a better rep for evaluating is Mayock. Speaking of which ...

Oh well. Mayock hasn't released one yet. But here is the link to the other talking heads at Jeremy Shockey's favorite network:

Its mostly old data. 2 have Peter Konz going to the Packers and the other is Branch. Baldinger does not believe more than 10 players are worthy of being drafted, apparently.

NFL Draft Scout at CBS has one vote for Branch (Rob Rang) the other vote for Reyes (Dane Brugler), each is dated the 26th of March.

Branch and Mercilus are two I like if we stay at 28.

I have to check the freshness of the information this post is based on. In any case here goes:

DE Andre Branch, Clemson? ** Goes in the Second round at #42

http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=68712&draftyear=2012&genpos=DE

NOT too shabby with Whitney Mercilus (but**):

http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=3078

** NOTE: Center Peter Konz is moving up Mock Draft boards. I saw one with him going to Tennessee at #20. Sadly Mr. Mercilus a hybride DE/LB went at #22 to the Browns. DT Jerel Worthy went #24 (Pittsburg); DT Michael Brockers went to Denver @ #25; Devon Still, DE/DT, Penn State (http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=2954) went @ #27 to new England and that makes him close in the Packerrats Mock.

In this Mock we get a fella I like in Nick Perry, DE/OLB, USC (http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/profile_display.cfm?prospect_id=3074). In alot of Mocks I see Nick perry on the rise. We have some fun with this stuff as we love football; but we all know that until Ted Thompson and the Green Bay Packers are announced as being on the clock at #28 after the NE Pat's pick 'only' one man will be deciding onn that pick. The thing I see about TT is he seems to be in control of his emotions and I'll bet if you got to known him he's a bag of nerves.

I grew up with a fella and played competitive sports with him alot; and his favourite saying before a big anything in sports was "I'm so excited I'm shittin' my pants".

I can't never see Ted no matter what his nerves are crying for... shittin' his pants.

If Kirkpatrick is there when the Pack picks, I would have a tough time with TT passing on him. Many people see him as the 2nd or 3rd DB behind Jenkins.

I dont think it will be a problem as I really dont see him falling that far.

Kirwan knows his stuff and he has Kirkpatrick going 7th. Jenkins is the CB most likely to slide because of some significant off-field issues.

I wouldn't hate it, but I'd really like to land a frame guy if we draft a DE in the first. We've got a whole lot of technique guys with less than ideal frames (which is what Worthy would be), and literally no frame guys who need to work on technique.

I'd rather have Brockers, Still, Cox, and Reyes than Worthy.

I think Worthy can be a good player, but his best position (and high board) should be at the 3-tech spot.

The odds on TT moving to a higher position to secure a certain defensive player is too difficult for me to even consider.

Instead I'm looking at positions #25 through #29 to see which players may more likely be available; the cost to move to #25 (the Denver Broncos pick) from our #28 pick to get that player.

http://www.draftcountdown.com/features/Value-Chart.php

The numerical value of pick #25 (Denver Broncos) is 720 and the Packers #28 pick at 660. The difference = 60.

To move to pick #25. Ted Thompson would have to offer his 4th round pick #123 (value 49) and 6th round pick at #197 (value 12.6); have the Broncos accept it. TT would still have 10 picks with all else remaining the same.

We may speculate on what TT may do 'till the cows come in'. I'm confident that he will do what's exactly necessary for our team.

* OLB Shea McLellan ... Boise State:Height: 6-3. Weight: 260. 40 Time: 4.62. 10-Yd Split: 1.57. Bench: 19. Vertical: 31.5. Broad: 9-10.
Arm: 32 3/4. Hand: 10 1/8.

Projected Round (2012): 2-3 ..... Comment woodbuck27: This seems correct.

3/20/12: " McClellin improved his draft stock with a quality season, but it was hurt when he weighed in at 248 pounds at the Senior Bowl. At that weight, McClellin is really only an option to be a 3-4 outside linebacker and does not have the size necessary to be a 4-3 base end.

In the month leading up to the Combine, McClellin added 12 pounds. He had a excellent performance in Indianapolis with a fast 40 and a great showing in the field drills. At the heavier weight, some 4-3 teams may consider McClellin for end, but he still will fit best as a 3-4 outside linebacker at the next level. " Source
http://walterfootball.com/draft2012OLB3-4.php (Typ.)

Comment woodbuck27: OLB Shea McLellan would be 'a reach' at pick #28.

** DT Jerel Worthy , Michigan State ... Height: 6-3. Weight: 305. Projected 40 Time: 4.99. Projected Round (2013): Top 15 Pick.

9/2/11: " Jerel Worthy is the consensus top defensive tackle in the draft class.

Note woodbuck27: See DT Fletcher Cox DT, Mississippi State who's moved up draft boards like a rocket. Back to Jerel Worthy:

" As a prospect, Worthy has some similarities to 2011 first-rounder Corey Liuget. Neither had big stat lines in 2010, yet both are considered to be game changers. Last year, Worthy had eight tackles for a loss and four sacks. Worthy has a good get off and is disruptive. Offenses showed their respect for Worthy by sending frequent double teams his way. Entering his junior season, Worthy could move his stock towards the very top of the draft if he is able to increase his production. If he decides to stay in school, it would be surprising but he would likely enter his senior season as the top tackle available. " (Typ. Please see above)

Comment woodbuck27: IMO this DT will be available close to our #28 pick but if TT covets him he may have to trade up. Jerel Worthy is a real possibility as our next draft pick.

*** OLB / DE Andre Branch : http://www.nfldraftscout.com/ratings/dsprofile.php?pyid=68712&draftyear=2012&genpos=DE

Comment woodbuck27: This prospect is raw by reports I'm reading. He's certainly a strong possibility as TT's guy at #28.

**** DE/OLB or OLB/DE Nick Perry USC ..... http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1631896

Comment woodbuck27: I like this prospect at #28 and I'll add DE, Whitney Mercilus as another legitimate option for TT to pick.

Things are changing rapidly on BIG Boards of late but to me it's a 'so what' !

There's enough information now available that 'a fella' who's really interested can assess what Ted Thompson might do in this draft and the key to that is what he'll do in Rounds 1-3.

I looked at this yesterday arond my interest in 'THE MASTERS' GO ! Phil Mickelson !!... and this morning (Easter Sundasy).

Happy Easter everyone. (-:

Round One

Who can Ted Thompson secure for us with his First Round one pick at #28 ?

One of these prospects will be avaiklable:

1. Devon Still, DT, Penn State
2. Dont'a Hightower, ILB, Alabama
3. Mark Barron, SS, Alabama
4. Vinny Curry, DE/OLB, Marshall
5. Ronnell Lewis, OLB/DE, Oklahoma
6. Stephon Gilmore, CB, South Carolina
7. Andre Branch, DE, Clemson
8. Zach Brown, OLB, North

Round Two

If you research the TOP 100 prospects today one of the following are more than likely going to be available at Pick #59 and I will offer some of Ted Thompson's options.

These are prospects that today seem likely to be available to Ted thompson at Pick #59:

Markelle Martin, SS, Oklahoma State
Shea McClellin, DE/OLB, Boise State
Casey Hayward ,CB,Vanderbilt
Mychal Kendricks,LB,California
Alameda Ta'amu, DT,Washington
** Mitchell Schwartz, OT, California**
Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia.

Ted thompson has pick # 123 in the 4th Round with a trade value (TV) of 49 Pts. If he had to trade up to Pick position # 54 ... 'to get his guy' ... he might offer Pick #123.

Pick NO.163 in the 5th Round has a TV of 26 and offering that pick in a trade up 'might' move TT from Pick #59 two slots up to Pick #57.

Offering his 4th and 5th round picks or (a TV = 750 may get Ted Thompson all the way up to Pick NO. 52 and some of the following prospects come into play:

Jayron Hosley, CB, Virginia Tech
Jerel Worthy, DT, Michigan State
Harrison Smith, SS, Notre Dame
Lavonte David, OLB, Nebraska
Derek Wolfe, DT/DE, Cincinnati
Jake Bequette, DE, Arkansas
Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska
ROUND Three

Our GM Ted Thompson many options 'in the 3rd Round' in terms of staying put at Pick #90 Vs trading up.

Who might he choose in Round NO. 3 with Pick #90 ? One of these prospects will be available here:

1. Antonio Allen, SS, South Carolina
2. Billy Winn, DT/5T, Boise State
3. Leonard Johnson, CB, Iowa State
4. Tank Carder, ILB, TCU
5. Bobby Wagner, OLB/ILB, Utah State

6. Jonathan Massaquoi, OLB/DE, Troy

7. Chris Polk, RB, Washington

8. Keenan Robinson, OLB, Texas
9. Nigel Bradham, OLB, Florida State

10.** James Brown, OT, Troy **

11. Emmanuel Acho, OLB/ILB, Texas

Why would NE get the Saints' spot?

The Patriots do what the patriots do best. Find incredible value for a draft pick and maximize it. New England traded the 28th overall pick in the first round tot he New Orleans Saints for a 2012 first round draft pick and a 2011 2nd round pick. Here is how the trade worked out:

Saints get –

2011 28th overall pick (Mark Ingram, RB, Alabama)

Patriots get –

2012 1st round draft pick

2011 2nd round pick (56 overall)

OLB Courtenay Upshaw isn't too shabby to us at #28. At #28 he's IMO a real bonus.

I'm surprized to see Michael Brockers going to Denver at#25 given that he's by some 'EXPERTS' NOT considered NFL ready.
