Big picturely speaking I don't think its a good idea to put Skin on a timeout as I ultimately don't think the forum can afford to lose him. This is a forum so the users are the content of this site. There about three kinds of posters that make a forum great, your partials, patlers, and your skins.

Partial, especially partial circa 2007 who still posted in the football forum was invaluable because he fostered endless debate due to his infinite capacity for being wrong. Without him we are left with just a bunch of right people and that's no fun. However, partial was also a bit of an intolerable sociopath and didn't really contribute anymore anyways so I understand his exile.

I don't think I need to explain why the site can't lose Patler because a number of his posts deserve Pulitzer prizes. Doesn't matter because Patler is a perfect gentleman and will never push the rules.

Skin is the type of poster who any forum, not just a packer one, would kill for. He's smart and witty enough to routinely write hilarious comments while adding to discussion and he gives away that talent to this site for free everyday. Skin's a rarity and I'm afraid of the day that he decides this place is no longer worth his hours of free time a day and starts typing his genius on a site that will pay him. Putting him on timeout just isn't good for the forum. He loves testing the site's management and I'm sure that's annoying but after this many years of negative reinforcement not working, maybe try some positive reinforcement or something.

I want to make it clear this is not a personal attack on anyone, but rather an honest assessment of where I am and where this community is. This is not good-bye. More like an apology for failing all of us.

First, I want to thank Madtown for all of his hard work. Utterly and completely demoralizing, eviscerating, and ultimately ruining a pre-bonded on-line community that at one time felt like family was a herculean, yet delicate, task. Being able to simultaneously ignore this place for years while occasionally dropping by for no other reason than to cause trouble and garner attention took the will of a mule combined with the timing of a brain surgeon. As a result, I feel that the last shards of what made this place unique, fun, and interesting are finally falling away, replaced by a virtual reflection of Madtown's ego. At one time I thought that as long as this group of people simply had a place to gather, no matter what the form or function, we would essentially live forever, digitally speaking. As the forum changed, I was perhaps the most resistant to adapt. I liked what we had, and believed that our greatest key to building a successful and thriving website was remaining what we were when we arrived: a unique cast of vagabonds with close enough ties to traverse several websites together, and then building a membership around that most precious of commodities. So yeah, I was "defiant" as the gay one put it. I fought for what I thought was best for this forum, and for that, was continuously abused, berated, threatened, and virtually shunned. Obviously, as cocks, lesbians, crude jokes, and eventually any kind of humor whatsoever was systematically drained from this place and users were driven off, banned, or bored to death, it became clear I had lost the fight, and it was a fight impossible to rejoin, as like Harry Potter learned, nothing can bring back the dead. For those of you who supported the direction the site was taken over the years, I congratulate you on such a... "wonderful" accomplishment.

What this comes down to is that I'm done being used as a scapegoat for some lazy fuck-up who isn't smart enough to keep his own disastrously ignorant ego from continuously forcing him to act like a retarded four year old whenever he's proven wrong or isn't feeling good about himself. I refuse to allow someone to hold my time here hostage to his delusional self aggrandizing cholo-faggot routine. Even before madtwon's latest tantrum, I was seriously questioning why I even come here, much less contribute. Madtown's made it clear time and time again he's little more than an egotistical, cowardly liar who paints a sad clown face whenever someone calls him on it, and who's only interest is his own, despite all his chest puffing and crotch grabbing. I get it. This forum most likely gives him the only sense of control and/or power he has in his life, and giving that up would be like me giving up vodka. Again, I don't mean these to be personal attacks, simply observations on how someone's ego is now unretractable from the forum in a way that affects every poster here. Maybe unretractable isn't the right word, not only because it's not a real word, but it infers a desire to retract, instead of the need to constantly bludgeon us with repetitive boring digital dick swingings.

But I digress, and I wanted to keep this short, because most of you are borderline illiterate. I don't expect anyone to be sad if I never come back here again, mainly because no one gives a shit about this place anymore, and out of the dozen people who still post here, most of you hate me. But, alas, I feel I've tried, earnestly and intently, to make this place unique, and as such, better. Most of the time that entailed arguing for what we were and what we used to be, and not what we became under the failed stewardship or any of his imaginary personalities. All I got in return were empty promises, insincere platitudes and ridiculous fake machismo bullshit that was laughable at it's best and downright dishonest at it's worst. Regardless, the plotted course downward never changed, posters continued to abandon this place, and interest either died or was intentionally murdered by Madtown's asinine and cowardly "administrator" routine and the general lazy disinterest that's followed. He's made it clear that he cannot, or will not, separate his ego from this forum. The result hasn't been healthy for him or the forum. My greatest failing has been caring enough about this place to get involved in trying to save it from someone who has no interest in it surviving, and no interest in allowing anyone else who cares enough to try.

So good luck. I'm done with the latest promises of change and energized enthusiasm. Honestly, it was never really worth it, and now, well, like I said, I'm not going to let some deranged mental midget dictate the terms of how I interact with people I've known for the better part of a decade so that he can feel an emotional erection over how much control he has over an internet forum that he's strangled to death with his bullshit. I think this forum is at its best when everyone is allowed to be themselves, as dysfunctional as that might be. Of course, most personalities color between the lines while a few others use those same lines as a starting point to color outside of them. Honestly, so what? It's hardly ever a problem, in my opinion. I think that we basically do a good job of policing one another.

Generally speaking, I think that the rules at PR should be as few as possible and clearly established. That's two separate points. It's Mad's house and he certainly has every right to make the rules. That's a given. However, how well the current rules are understood and communicated I guess can be debated, and better by others rather than myself. I drive 55mph, let ladies go through doorways first, say "Thank You" and "Yes, Maam" or "Yes, Sir" and so worth. It's a rarity for me to ever bump up against the forum rules. However, for those who are wired to test boundaries, I cannot gauge how well they understand where the bright red lines are that should not be crossed. That's where the forum mod has to have a one-on-one with them when needed.

That said, I think diversity and freedom are strengths here that should be preserved. I enjoy the forum more when people don't think like me and aren't afraid to say so. We are all basically mature enough to agree or disagree, call each other names, insult families, and then cheer on the Packers together. After all, it's the love for the Packers that binds us together. That's the main point. Everything else is superfluous.

Obviously, Skin is his own man (except maybe on the weekends when his wife is away) but this place is poorer if unique personalities like his are not valued. I know that I for one often marvel at his creative use of male and female anatomical references weaved into biting sarcasm. He gets extra style points in my book. I personally don't speak that way but it rarely bothers me when he does. That's him and I'm me. And, we can peacefully coexist at a place called PackerRats. I like that and I’m glad we have that opportunity.
