Let's Get Fired up !!!

JUST SHOW BIG SHOWS AGO WE EXPERIENCED THIS

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_IAqwrvEuU

And then after a year when going nearly undefeated this occured

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ANe5AeOIFm4

Chaos hit the fan in the PR community.

TT felt the pain and it drove his madness to actually liberal participation in the free agent market. And the dude who was sometimes accused by many of not having the stones to go bold and go big.....and the dude who was sometimes accused of going BPA with no regard for need..........................has essentially

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY6_3Y7OOo8

It's clear...........Hail to TT

He is alive

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfAjommHuOA

Out of no where comes........TTT...........Ted the Tiger Thompson...........doing a wonderful job combining BPA with need

He gets us our pass rusher.........he gets us a DL who graded out as a first round pick.....he gets us a future starting CB....

While it is on him and his scouts to figure out of he selected the right player.........the strategy was perfectly executed.

Anything out of these last rounds should be icing on the cake. Yes, it still churns my stones, that TTT gave up a fourth round draft pick to let the Eagles trade down and draft My Cousin and Future Pro Bowler Vinny Curry.........but I understand it was a deal that needed to be made. And I feel bad the Badger I've admired as much as any is stuck with Bevell on the QB hole we call Seattle.

But for Green Bay Packer Fans....................we have to be feeling some of this about the draft

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vvghM3BoI8

Da Pack is back fellow Homers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Make it a great Saturday.

Whatever occurs today is icing on the Cake !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the eve of losing Charles Woodson to age, a guy like Hayward is just what the doctor ordered. I've heard it said, corners playing inside have to be your smartest, most mentally prepared corner on your team. You don't have the sideline as consistent protection. Your leverages change from coverage to coverage and the concepts offense throw at you , if you have an understanding of what they're trying to do, an inside corner can reek havoc on the passing game, like Woodson does now, even if he's lost quite a bit of speed.

Hayward looks like the most ready player to actually start and play consistently at corner. But we have two outside cover guys who range from damn good to friggin fantastic (Shields and Williams) Hayward protects against injury this year. Going forward, as he develops, it sounds like he's a guy who can play one of the tougher positions on defense, one that maybe isn't so reliant on pure speed, but one that allows for more exotic coverages, one that opens up the playbook a little the way Woodson does. Looks like he's a specialty type player, and inside corner, not a pure outside cover corner who can do it all.

I love the pick. I love it for depth now (this is our window) and I love it for a possible nitche down the road.

It's similar to Perry and Worthy. They bring something right now (depth and situation impact.) They need to round out their game into somewhat complete players. But the Packers added desperately needed pass rush to a defense that is already the best defense in the league at creating turnovers.

The great teams, the truly dominant teams of all time are strong in all areas and it just rolls up. The offense helps the defense and ST's. The ST's help the defense and offense, and the defense helps the ST's and offense. Lapses or not, the Packers look like one of those teams that can just roll it up, just blow teams out of the water. And they also added players who will help insure, over time, they still have excellent all around players while they continue to add new young players to help out.

Lets face it, the Packers are a great team. GREAT! It's going to take a lot of bad things to happen for this team not to compete for a championship. Rodgers, Raji and Matthews need to be healthy down the stretch for us to be front runners, but we're going to get there and if our big 3 is ready to rumble, no team in the league can match our talent (or coaching IMO.)

Crick is a classic tweener (similar to Perry.) He's very talented (again, similar to Perry but not quite at that level.) Unlike Perry he has injury concern. Tweeners can fall. Teams look for that classic player who can start and play every down. Offenses have gone more and more to situational players. TE's who can't block. RB's who are mostly open field/pass catching players along with a RB who's more of a runner. A classic QB and a wild cat QB. Slot WR's, Route runners, Big guys you can throw to in the endzone, but maybe can't get off the line as well so they have to play off the line of scrimmage, pure blocking TE's, etc. . . . They have package after package after package. Defense doesn't seem they do quite as much of that.

The Packers seem to be open to drafting situation players. It looks like we're going to have some extra mixing and matching based on down, distance, and who the opponent is. Crick is a situational player. Seems like he's a guy who could drop. Seems like he's the type of situational player the Packers are drafting this year.

I'd love Crick. He'd be a big-time 3rd down pass rusher for our line. I like his stunts. With a guy like Worthy or Raji who can crash inside, a guy like Crick who can stunt inside or directly rush the passer brings a little something extra.

If we follow tendency of this draft, we'll be drafting guys like Crick and maybe a RB who excels in one area of the game, vs a guy who's more complete but less talented in any one area of the game.

I'm expecting the Packers to take a QB or RB and an OT or OG/OC with their two fourth round picks.

There's a sickening amount of value on the board at WR too.

I'd like to see DL if the value is there and hope TT moves up to get Crick. If not get the best saftey then. I'm willing to not pick a rb as I have faith Green and Starks is enough. By far my biggest worry at this point is that Bretsky is loving our draft. When he said he would rather have picked other than Perry I thought we were safe, but the sheer exuberance he has is really getting me worried. Wist do your best to sink his enthusiasm and save these poor innocent players!

Jared Crick would be a really nice pickup in round four IMHO

It would be a knee-jerk decision. Crick is going to be a great player in this league. I wouldn't necessarily hate the selection. But that would mean two starters and one primary rotational guy in our front 7 would begin the season with no NFL experience at all. This may sound silly but I think drafting Perry and Worthy plus the addition of Hargrove in FA is all the attention our front 7 needs right now. We need a safety, we need a center, we need a quarterback at some point... Too much attention focused on one phase of the game will lead to disaster IMO.

I am holding out hope that David Molk, the center from Michigan, will still be there when TT picks at the end of the fourth. He's a good player, and I think will be a solid NFL center.

You make a good point. But it also assumes that you hit on all three of those guys. And the odds of that happening aren't too good.

It's not about hitting on the guys we've drafted. It's about ignoring everything else altogether. The front 7 isn't the only issue with the team as it stands today. Who starts at FS, and who backs him up? Saturday is 38 years old, and there is nobody on the roster being prepared to take over for him. There isn't a single QB on the roster behind Aaron Rodgers who has taken a single NFL snap before. After the addition of 3 players to our front 7 from last season these other issues have become more important and should be addressed quickly.

Bretsky
04-28-2012, 11:34 AM
It would be a knee-jerk decision. Crick is going to be a great player in this league. I wouldn't necessarily hate the selection. But that would mean two starters and one primary rotational guy in our front 7 would begin the season with no NFL experience at all. This may sound silly but I think drafting Perry and Worthy plus the addition of Hargrove in FA is all the attention our front 7 needs right now. We need a safety, we need a center, we need a quarterback at some point... Too much attention focused on one phase of the game will lead to disaster IMO.

The LIONS get Ronnell 'the Hammer' Lewis...to go with Suh....Murder's Row.

The LIONS get a Super ST's Player and a solid developmentle player.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2012OLB.php

Ronnell Lewis*, OLB, Oklahoma
Height: 6-2. Weight: 253.
40 Time: 4.69. 10-Yd Split: 1.65.
Bench: 36.
Vertical: 31. Broad: 9-4.
Arm: 32 1/2.
Projected Round (2012): 1-2.

"4/25/12: Lewis did very well at the Combine, showing serious strength, speed and explosion. Teams were also impressed with how well he interviewed and explained his time in Norman. He followed that up with a strong pro day.

Lewis played really very well this year, and he excelled at defensive end. His ability to rush the passer off the edge while playing the run well illustrates that Lewis could be a good 3-4 outside linebacker in the NFL. He could fit as an inside linebacker in the 3-4 as well.

Lewis only played in 10 games in 2011, yet the junior had good production. He totaled 59 tackles with 13 tackles for a loss, 5.5 sacks, five passes batted, one forced fumble and one interception. Against Texas A&M, the team with the best pair of offensive tackles Lewis faced all season, he had a good game with eight tackles, two tackles for a loss, one interception, one pass batted away and some good pass pressure. Lewis also outplayed the Seminoles and their offensive tackles, Andrew Datko and Zebrie Sanders.

Academic issues made Lewis ineligible for Oklahoma's bowl battle against Iowa. He is a phenomenal athlete who has speed to burn and is built like a truck. On the field, Lewis is an intimidating force who plays with a mean streak. He is an underrated prospect who could be a pick who many teams eventually regret passing on.

8/23/11: The junior Ronnell Lewis looked poised for a breakout season after flashing as a sophomore. He recorded 3.5 sacks with an interception, a fumble recovery, and 37 total tackles last season in only four starts. The muscular senior is extremely fast and is a violent hitter."

Well he goes to a DT>>Mike Daniels; Iowa.

Grade 2.46

http://cache.profootballweekly.com/prospects/player/mike-daniels-93/

Positives:
Has natural leverage and is difficult to engage. Explosive quickness and disruptive penetrating ability. Highly athletic. Terrific balance and agility — feels pressure and protects his legs. Coordinates quick, active hands and feet and has flexible hips to work an edge. Surprising punch strength. Propels himself off blocks. Ranges to secure tackles and is able to drop into short zone. Rare leaping ability. Is tough and will play hurt. Outstanding football character with leadership traits.
Negatives:
Undersized — is short and lacks ideal height and bulk. Is not stout against the run. Moved by double-teams. Lets his pads rise and gets jostled inside. Rotation player until senior season. Durability needs to be considered — is not built to withstand a 16-week pounding and has been dinged up, including multiple concussions.
Summary:
Small-framed, explosive, upfield penetrator with outstanding athletic ability and tireless work habits. Is not suited to handle a large percentage of snaps, but provides value as a sub-package rusher.

Mike Daniels

Biography: All-conference selection as a senior after totaling 66 tackles/12.5 tackles for loss/8 sacks. Started eight games as his junior, finishing with 40/11/4.

Positives: Quick, explosive defensive lineman who makes plays in all directions of the field. Fires off the snap with a great first step, explodes through the gaps up the field and plays low to the ground. Immediately gets his hands up, fights hard throughout the action and keeps his feet moving up the field. Easily changes direction, fluid if asked to twist or stunt and also displays the ability to hold his ground against blocks.

Negatives: Lacks bulk and gets out-positioned from the action or controlled by a single blocker. Gets rag dolled in the middle of the line if he cannot get the first step on blockers.

Analysis: Daniels showed consistent improvement in his game the past three seasons and is a potential three-technique lineman who will also get consideration as a defensive end in certain 34 alignments.

Projection: 5th

Jerron McMillian

Biography: Three-year starter awarded all-conference honors since his junior season and named to numerous All-American teams last year. Senior totals included 92 tackles/1 interceptions/5 pass breakups and 11.5 tackles for loss. Junior numbers included 58 tackles and a team-leading six pass breakups.

Positives: Explosive safety with nice size. Fast moving in every area of the field, takes good angles to the action and works hard to make plays. Has an explosive nature to his game, effectively patrols center field and plays with an aggressive attitude. Quick up the field to defend the run and is a solid open-field tackler. Displays good range moving sideline to sideline and is fast getting outside the numbers to make plays.

Negatives: Average ball skills. Displays marginal quickness driving to the ball out of his plant.

Analysis: McMillian is a terrific run-defending safety who's also displays the athleticism and movement skills necessary to cover the pass in centerfield. He must polish his technique yet offers upside and could surprise in the NFL.

Projection: 7th

He's a penetrator, played on the interior of the DL, was third in the Big Ten in sacks last year. He's a short guy so I thought he would be a nose. My guess is he's a nickel DT exclusively.

Mike Daniels, 6' 1", 291, DT (project to Pack as 3-4 DE)
http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1692684

Overview

Daniels was lightly recruited out of high school, choosing Iowa over Temple. After redshirting in 2007, he saw limited action as a reserve end/tackle in 2008, recording six tackles, one tackle for loss and a sack. He was a backup defensive tackle in 2009 as a sophomore, finishing with 10 tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Daniels earned a starting job in 2010 as a junior with eight starts, recording 40 tackles, 11.0 tackles for loss and 4.0 sacks, earning All-Big Ten Honorable Mention honors. He had his most productive season in 2011 as a senior (13 starts), finishing with 67 tackles and a team-best 13.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks, earning Second Team All-Big Ten honors. Daniels
is an undersized interior player, but plays with the quickness and motor to be productive at the next level ? a lot to love about his first step burst and explosion. He was the spark plug of the defense at Iowa and was productive against both the pass and run, leading the team in both sacks and tackles for loss as a senior. Daniels lacks the length, core strength and overall size that teams look for and he won?t be a great fit in every defensive front, but he?s a player who will fit in a rotation somewhere and has enough physical skill to contribute ? very similar prospect as Colts defensive tackle Drake Nevis and looks like a solid top-125 pick. ANAYLYSIS Strengths: A coordinated athlete with a lightning quick first step and natural explosion ? routinely the first defensive lineman off the ball. Built low to the ground and is most effective when he keeps his pad level low and battles. Has active hands to slip blocks and a high motor to never give up on the play ? plays hard and hungry on every snap. Agile and nimble footwork with smooth body control ? very light on his feet. Fights through the whistle and is always chirping and going at full-go ? love his effort and determination. Extremely tough, battling through an ankle sprain most of 2011. A leader and hard worker off the field, adding over 50-pounds since enrolling as a 230-pound freshman. Consistently productive over his career (27 tackles for loss and 15.5 sacks). Weaknesses: Undersized and lacks elite bulk and girth for an interior defensive lineman ? doesn?t have NFL measureables or length. Lacks a stout anchor and can be redirected off the snap with underwhelming base strength. Tends to play too upright at times and needs to be more consistent with his leverage to maximize his potential. Has short arms and has room to improve his pass rush technique. Struggles to disengage with inconsistent hand use and power ? too often gets lost in a crowd. Needs to wrap and finish, too often settling to just hit the ballcarrier. Battled a leg injury for most of the past season so his medical will be important. Will be scheme-specific at the next level because of his lack of size and strength ? won?t be a fit for everyone. NFL Comparison: Drake Nevis -- Dane Brugler

Jerone McMillian Strong Safety ,Maine

Overview

One of the top prospects to emerge from Maine in years, McMillian is a strong and physical safety who will be valued fairly high by an NFL team that needs help in its run defense.

He is an athlete who at times can look stiff in his movements when covering the pass.

When it comes to getting involved in the run game, McMillian brings it full-go every time and is a real aggressive player. His value lies in his ability to support the run and be a sure tackler, and he has sixth-round value based on this.

He will likely be a make-it guy as a late-round selection for a team as he will be a reliable backup option early on and a serious contributor on special teams.

Without doubt he is a player who needs to be heavily involved with the front seven and will be attractive to blitz-heavy defenses.

Jerron McMillian, SS, Maine
5'11” 203 lbs Round 7
Tackle-machine with an NFL body. Not much of a ball-hawk but the Packers worked him out so they must at least like him as a special teamer with upside.

I think the reason you take McMillian is not "run defense". I think he mostly played SS because they already had a FS in Maine.

His combine workout was off the charts. 4.36 forty, 4.22 shuttle, and 6.69 cone. The kid can move.

Well, if nothing else, our DL is going to be completely different than last year. We seem to be stacking up on the quick-pass rushing types. Turns out the Packers seem to think they can get pass rush out of the DL as well as the OLB positions. That whole, DE's are just big run stopping stiff thing doesn't seem to match up with the Packers view of the DE's.

I'm warming to it, it just shocked me at the time. I like the player, I think he'll be a good NFL player and I need to be less hung up on fitting guys into specific molds.

Interestingly both of the DL we drafted this year are really quick off the snap. Worthy's anticipation was excellent and Daniels gets off like he was fired from a cannon. That's definitely something that some of our late round journeymen lack.

safety Jerron McMillian participated in the NFL Scouting Combine at Indianapolis, where he led all defensive backs with a vertical leap of 36½ inches. On Thursday, he jumped 39 inches.

But his teamate outdid him!

Coston’s stock continues to rise as the off-season progresses. He uncorked a vertical leap of 43 inches

I think the reason you take McMillian is not "run defense". I think he mostly played SS because they already had a FS in Maine.

His combine workout was off the charts. 4.36 forty, 4.22 shuttle, and 6.69 cone. The kid can move.

WOW, those are great numbers, and I see why TT drafted him. Do we have the secondary coaching to coach him up? I have waffled back and forth on this. We have had some limited sucsess coaching up some of our secondary players, and then occasionally we get an amazing result like Collins or TWill.
