Packers Heritage Trail scheduled for June completion.

May 8th, 2012 at 5:03 pm by apackphan (http://lombardiave.com/author/apackphan/)

"Packers fans visiting Green Bay to watch training camp, take a tour of Lambeau Field or go to the Packer Hall of Fame this summer will have another option: The Packers Heritage Trail.
As the brainchild of journalist Cliff Christl, the trail is a self-guided tour where visitors will have the chance to visit the birthplace of Curly Lambeau, Vince Lombardi’s church, the Green Bay Press Gazette and a plethora of other historic places in and around downtown of Green Bay." FR. LINK

I remember reading somewhere once about some old steakhouse downtown (I think) that the team (or visiting team....or something) would frequent over the past 50-60 years. Anyway, it is supposed to be an iconic Packer dining establishment in Green Bay.

Anyone know what it is?

An no; I am not talking about Brett's place.

Odd that no one has caught on to Cliff's plan to add old high school football stadiums to the walking tour. If you take the plunge, its going to take some time to get from the Green Bay Press Gazette's offices on East Walnut to Breese Stevens in Madison.

Pro tip: watch out for the speed trap in Rosendale. They'll ticket pedestrians if they get over 5 mph in the power chair.

Are there any old houses of prostitution or strip clubs that the home and visiting teams would frequent that are slated to be on the tour as well?

Or how about bars where guys like Paul Hornung and Brett Favre famously picked up local chicks? Any of that?

The King's X? I don't think its there anymore tho, but I'm not sure.

You sure you don't mean The Queen's Y? Lots of football players ate there. Or so I've heard.

Yup, it was the King's X on 313 N. Broadway on the west side of town. It closed years ago.

In the 80's you could hobnob with Packer players at Nicky's in De Pere.

They even sell t-shirts at the bp:

I remember seeing players in there in the early 90's too.

The reviews are mixed at BF's steakhouse but generally customers enjoyed the service.

The place that seems better for steak and not near Lambeau Field but a classy joint (better have some extra cash) is this place in Appleton, Wisconsin and named after arguably the most Famous PACKER:

Lombardi's Steak House:

333 W College Ave, Appleton, WI 54911-5862

That looks like a serious cut of beef. Juicy.

* ' The King's X ' is still listed in this LINK of dining establishments in Green Bay, Wisconsin. In fact it's no longer running and that location serves food under a new name and owners:

Kaleidoscope Eatery & Spirits 313 N. Broadway. Owners originally were Kathy & Dann Drews.

I believe this is the former.... ' King’s X ' location.

NOTE: For a rather small city this list is impressive. I now call home Greenfield Park, Quebec that's located in greater Montreal where the dining out opportunities are 'it seems' endless.

The problem with Brett's steakhouse is the prices there are higher than most other places like that in town from what I heard. The consensus is the food is good but just a tad pricey.
