You would think a new stadium would turn around the luck with our neighbors to the West, but not in this case.

Petersen arrested for resisting arrest (no word on what he did that warranted arrest in the first place) at a Houston nightclub.

Don't think he's been in trouble before...

Initial reports don't look good for the police. They came in to clear out the bar at 2:30am, and he went to get some water before leaving. Words were exchanged, officer and bouncer told him he had to leave, so he did. On the way out, one of the cops jumped him from behind. All of this on surveillance tapes.

One of the comments on the story was hilarious. Said he was only arrested because they mistook him for John Jolly, their favorite target in Houston

Toby Gerhart doesn't seem to have these problems.

Yeah, I gotta side with AP on this one. Houston cops are nuts. Enjoy your pinkslip, oinker!

I think somehow he'll find a way to put this misdemeanor arrest behind him.

And I'm going to stay the fuck out of Houston. Most the the places I go to don't need off duty cops to close up.

Let's see what our border buddies think about it:

I always am gleeful when a Viking or Lion or Bear is arrested, We havent had anything real serious in that regard in a while. I'm always mindful any of our guys could get arrested - so karma sets in.

At least he didn't get behind the wheel. It probably won't be matter much since even if he gets a game or two, they can work it int games that he would miss because he is still recovering from his injury.

Be careful with that thought, it wasn't too long ago we were parsing bar room behavior over Barnett in Appleton.

Sounds to me Peterson is a light weight and can't handle his liquor.

This just got more interesting.

Peterson hired Rusty Hardin, the guy who defended Roger Clemens! Hardly needed to defend a misdemeanor, which would result in pretty much nothing, considering it's a first offense. So either there are going to be more charges out of this we are not yet aware of, or Peterson is going to go on the offensive, and try to take a chunk out of the Houston PD with some sort of an excessive force claim.

Stay tuned, this could be a good ride, and a much better offseason distraction than bountygate and Brees' franchise tag squabble!

The cop got a call from the Vikings for a tryout since he could take down AP.

Yeah sounds about right since they said he rarely drank before. Truth comes out when lit up is all. Sounds like he is just guilty of being a drunk asshole.

Something all of you have done on this forum on once or twice.

The Karmic bite-back on Schadenfreude can be painfully ironic.

Hardin has said any suggestion Peterson was drunk or was the aggressor is wrong. He does ask a good question, he he threw the first punch, should he not have been charged with assault and battery?

Just another case of the vikings wanting to be like the Packers. First they steal players, then they sign a coaching candidate, now their players are going to Houston and getting in trouble. It's pathetic.

Man. This is one weird case.

The reality is likely somewhere in between Peterson being a troublesome drunk who pushed a cop, and a mild mannered patron who was attacked for no reason at closing time. Since he has no history and a high-powered attorney, this case will probably be dropped. It isn't worth a DA's time to fight this hard for such a minor offense.

Yep...the glitzy lawyer in this case is merely Peterson telling the DA it isn't worth his time. Peterson will wind up pleading to something very minor and this will blow over. Smart move on AP's part...if you have the cash, you may as well use it.

Off duty cops seem like they have a troublemaking advantage. Act like a normal schmuck and cause trouble, then scream out "Police!" and start charging people with misdemeanors.

They should have to call a TO like kids do in a fight and announce they are actually police officers first, then go back to fighting.

This sure is dragging on. They were having a pre-trial and the prosecution asked for more time to prepare evidence and interview witnesses. Two more dates have been set, one in September and one in November. Peterson's lawyer is hoping the charges get dropped.

All this for a supposed resisting arrest charge? Methinks there's more here than is being seen right now.
