Its never to early to worry about the pass rush and the running game. Let's start tonight.
First up, Jeff Saturday doesn't look nearly fat enough to be an O lineman.

Also, either the Green Bay Packers Network did not spring for HD cameras or Ted Thompson has had Botox injections.

1. Forgiving Family Night crowd
2. Randall Cobb is a great deodorant
3. Chad Morton
4. Heat Prostration
5. Beer Sales cutoff
Possible reasons Shawn Slocum just got cheered during coach introductions.

2:00 minutes* flat and well done Skyler Stecker. Did her former Badger and Saint Dad Aaron proud.

Run right with Starks goes nowhere as Sitton lost Francois. Horrible versus number 2 D

Shields gambles and loses. Levine is on #2 team safety

2nd run of night. Nowhere.
Muir nice on tackle.
pbmax
08-03-2012, 07:57 PM
Merling offside. McMillan with pas breakup.
Crabtree with nice route adjustment.
Driver with catch. Packers tacklers are willing, but results not markedly different yet.
Levine gets Finley down after stif arm. But 20 yard completion.

Starks goes draw for TD. Entire offense goes Lambeau leap. Saturday didn't make it. Lang got stuck.
And the replacement refs call a FOUL! And booed as they should be.

93-Walden obliterated by the right side of the line on the TD run.

Two right hash attempts and Crosby still has that fade on the near goal post. He has got to aim more middle.
No Cobb on holds. Masthay in regular spot.

What does red helmet net mean?
Masthay with very short line drive after a huge start to camp.

Raji at nose and still getting turned in first string D.

Harrell two nice throws. Boykin nice catch but Williams whiffs tackle.

Coleman has a cannon. Bush gets nod with number 1s over House

I think Nick Perry just got into Bulaga and drive him well back on bull rush. 53 right?
Not Bulaga, it was Datko or Shea Allerd
House and Bush now rotating.

Nick Perry getting nice push pressure when he's blitzing.

Sweet throw & catch on the Jennings TD. I've noticed Brandian Ross had tight coverage on both Jennings and Driver on their long gainers, but didn't even address the ball when it was coming in.

Bennett just went right through heart of startng D. Shields with nice recover and tackle.

He has been close on two big receptions. I think Rodgers is taking revenge on last years pick 6/
Perry abused Datko.

Hit the 3rd FG.

EDS and Datko getting owned out there. Ugh.
Crosby missed 5 FGs tonight. More if you include the hilariously long ones. The one he hit from 56 would have been good from 66.
pbmax
08-03-2012, 08:56 PM
EDS whiffed on Francois blitz. No one to pick up McMillan. #2 O started this drill well but then falls apart
pbmax

Another thunder 3rd down play followed by rushed FG attempt. Wide right.
Whiffed again from left hash. Misses from 53 from dead on.
Newhouse leaving field. Crosby from 56 is good.
Missed from 60. He has got a wicked fade happening early in his last few kicks.
There is no wind on posts but something is sending the long FGs right very early in their flight. Either the hold or Crosby is getting bad contact trying to drive them long.

Brandian Ross had some really good coverage against the 1's. AR had perfect throws. Ross needs to turn for the ball.

Rodgers looked friggin nifty in the pocket on that TD pass to Jennings. He bounced right, bounced left and threw a strike. Drivers long catch was cool. Guy still has it.

Pedestrian and vanilla - as expected.
Taped it and will go back and look at it again... my initial impression was that the defense, both 1st and 2nd string showed less than nothing. Perry showed a couple of pressures, but otherwise looked lost in space and looked lost in general. Shields looked disappointing from what I saw.
Have to sit down and watch, rewind, watch, rewind, pause, slo-mo, lol... but initial reaction was a yawn.

I wonder where Ross fits in to the picture. He was glued to a few guys for a LONG time while Rodgers took advantage of the cannot touch the QB rules. On his pass completion to Driver, two players (including Perry) could have kicked him down.

The highlight BY FAR was TJ Lang kicking a long field goal. I'm not one to brag about myself as you know, but I always thought Lang was a good athlete, and I predicted he would make a field goal. I don't know if you have ever tried to kick a 25 yard field goal, but it is hard as hell. Still, I was surprised that the other linemen were completely pathetic. Professional athletes ought to be able to swing their leg in a coordinated fashion. I guess Sitton hit one non-embarassing ball.
What would have been cool would be for McCarthy to take a shot. He made clowns out of the other fat boys, why didn't he take a turn in the dunk tank?

I've tried and it's very difficult. That thing isn't exactly round, and anything other than dead center is a hook or a slice.

After rewinding thru the DVR - the one standout on defense for me was Worthy.
Perry looked lost - but I was impressed with Worthy. Nobody else really stood out.

Thx. . . . It helps to have someone rewind and watch each play. Makes the opinion count a lot more.

Perry looked lost
His problem is that he still has to think about what he's doing when he's out there, so he's a little slow and deliberate when it comes to anything other than "pin your ears back and go for the QB."
It's just an issue of Perry having a lot longer to go to make the transition from DE to OLB than Matthews did. He's absolutely physically capable of doing all the drops and recognition stuff, he just has to think about it to do it now. With repetition, eventually (hopefully) he won't.
He is, however, already better than Walden. Unless the Packers have a use for a player who, when his responsibility is "outside contain" will get sucked inside on EVERY SINGLE PLAY, you can cut Walden right now.

Technically speaking, do you actually rewind a DVR?

I agree... I attribute it to the position change as well. I'm hoping he can eventually be something close to Lamarr Woodley.
