I just read the game thread at the JSO forum---so you don't have to---and picked up one piece of information that could be helpful for folks outside of WI.

Someone asked how to hear the game broadcast over the Internet, and another poster directed him to this site:

http://www.mighty1220.com

This appears to be 1220 AM out of Stillwater, MN ... and according to packersradionetwork.com, it's part of the network that broadcasts the games. Apparently they also broadcast over the internet, and unlike 620 WTMJ in Milwaukee, they do so during the games.

The guy who asked said later that he tried it and it worked. He was listening to the game.

FYI

You're welcome, Woody!

You're one of the folks I was thinking might benefit if it works. I hope it works! We really won't know until the next game.

Sure! ... actually, I had all kinds of fellow 'rats in mind! I'll bet more than half of the regular posters here are outside the local listening/viewing areas for the Packers.

Thanks, I am touched. I just listened to the first half - Packers.com has a link.

I wish I could SEE the play....

Tarlam, some guy uploaded the first half of the GB at SD last week. It was really good quality. Can anyone do that for the GB vs Atl game? Please??

Sorry to burst the balloon folks, but they'll stop broadcasting once the season starts - or, at least, they did last year.

Unless someone finds a pirate station (and if you do, don't post it in the public forum!) I doubt there's any hope. NFL properties will absolutely not allow it.

test, I've heard of things like that before. While we may not be talking about the same thing, alot of it is rebroadcasting stations overseas. Which include alot of Asian porn stations.

Great, now you guys will be running out to buy it, right?

The only way that I know of listening to the game for free is through NFL Field pass. It's $30 for the season BUT they have 7 day free trials. If you are willing to create a few extra email accounts, this would work for you.

Sirius radio might be another option. When i'm on the road, which doesn't happen often, it's nice to be able to tune right into the game. Sirius does have an option for listening over the internet, but unfortunately, several of the talk shows are not included, which of course includes NFL broadcasting.
but for $50 can you get a home tuner kit and subscribe to the radio yourself.

For the record, that $30 price is only valid if you sign up during the preseason. I think it goes up during the regular seeason. So if you're looking to actually pay a small amount of money to listen to streaming broadcasts of NFL games, best do it now.

They don't do the best job streaming though, you can tell they just have someone sitting at a control panel whose job it is to hit a button to turn off the commercials, since you often hear the beginnings of local station commercials that are abruptly cut off. I'm just hoping the dude at the control panel never fails to hit the button to turn it back on. Also, when they stream they have the annoying habit of replacing the commercials that they have to edit out for legal reasons with nothing but silence. Most radio stations who stream on the internet fill the time that they have to not broadcast online with either online specific ads, soft music, station promos, occasional warnings that you're listening to a streaming broadcast that will be back soon, etc. With NFL Fieldpass it's just silence, which is kind of disconcerting because commercial breaks in the NFL are long, so periodically I, at least, am startled when the coverage comes back after like a 12 minute break.

Still, I'm paying at most $1.50 each to listen to the Packer games, and that to me feels worth it.

I have the NFL-Pass....I pay 9.95 per month....

I should upgrade my subscription! Save me 90 buckaroonees with which I can buy more Johnnie!
