Don't know how I missed this as its on Grantland, by Chris Brown and details a Packers play, but here it is. Its about Package Play Calls, where the offense makes one play call and has three option or so at the snap of the ball. Those options include both run and pass and can include different route options for the receivers and the route call is made on the LOS. the QB then might have a decision to make based on what a single unaccounted for defender does after the snap.

This kind of play calling has been a long time coming. Run/pass option has been around for more than a decade I think and Manning and the Colts did a version of this in their quasi no huddle for most of the decade. But its been far from dominant and usually exists only when there is a veteran QB who has been in a system for a long time.

The fact that its being used in college is a sign it can be installed and used in less time than previously thought.

More on packaging, this time being used against the Packers.

Will need to go back and study it but 49ers appear to be packaging quick screens with their inside run game from shotgun

Why didn't we copyright these plays?
