Chicago writers always seem to remember that gesture by Halas, but never mention that in the 1930s the Packers REALLY did save the Bears. Halas ran out of money to pay salaries, and the Packers gave him the money on a simple IOU to meet his payroll.

If not for the Packers in the 1930s, the Bears and Halas might not have been around to lobby for a new stadium in GB in the 1950s.

Great read, I love how even then owners made corrupt moves. :lol:

So way back in the beginning college players where considered better than the "professionals"?
