Defense needs to get a turnover. Unfortunately, we have defensive backs with wood planks for hands.

Cheesehead Craig
10-07-2012, 03:19 PM
On a completely unrelated note. I forgot to put Bradshaw in my fantasy lineup and he's run for over 200 yds today.

Packers4Glory

missed green wide open for 2. IDK how the fuck he missed that

pbmax
10-07-2012, 03:19 PM
Green ought to be a killer on pass downs with 6 in a box. So easy for him to make someone miss apparently.

Without CedBen - M3 didn't adjust and Arod didn't make the plays. Time of Possession killed the defense in 2nd half - and on last drive.

When we did adjust -too little, too late. Missed 2pt conversion hurt a lot. Time out on 2nd down after a spike. WTF. Cant place a ton of blame on Crosby - 50/50 from 50+. That's all on the offense.

And wtf - does the Defense need a fricken ball hawk lesson. I counted 4-5 possible INTs.

Total team lack of execution and keeping a team with a lot to play for in the game.

Wow. Maybe we aren't that good afterall??? And it makes the Seattle game hurt even more.

Fosco33
10-07-2012, 03:49 PM
Disappointing all around... Defense played like pussies on last drive. 3 chances to make a hit - and decided to glace off.

Add the injuries from last 2 weeks - both Jennings, Finley, Raji, etc. - this one hurts. literally

pittstang5
10-07-2012, 03:50 PM
I really think Raji's injury hurt. There was little to no pressure up the middle and lanes clogged, giving Luck ability to see.

pittstang5

Seems like once a player goes done. i.e. Benson today. The offense just can't recover or if they do, it's too little too late. McCarthy and the Staff needs to do a better job of getting back up guys ready. This is the NFL, players are going to get hurt, you have to be prepared for that.

BallHawk
10-07-2012, 03:54 PM
Shitty game. Yeah. But, really, did nobody see this coming? Not making excuses, but you knew the Colts were gonna come out playing tough for Pagano.

Assuming Benson and (more importantly) Raji's injuries aren't too serious, we'll be fine. Playing Houston next week will be the true test to see how good of a team we are.

Anybody who thinks we stink is overreacting. It's the same team as last year. Yeah, maybe we overperformed last year, but the talent is still there.

We have 5 division games left this year. The division is far from over and you've gotta think Rodgers and the crew will get it together at some point.

Let's just hope it's sooner rather than later.

Yeah - lots of time left. But - next week will be very tough. We were supposed to win this game - and it'd be 'ok' if we lost next week. Now - we really need to win next week. 2-4 teams have a tough time making playoffs - even with a very weak middle of the season and division games left.

The Seattle game will hurt us if we lose games like this...

This is a total team loss. The drops by TWill in end zone and Woodson were just tip of iceberg on d's crumbling in 2nd half. The INT on Rodgers was the turning point. Getting any score would have had a deflating effect on the Colts. That gave a young team a chance to hang around. Don't care about their coach being out. GOOD teams put their foot on their opponent and finish them off. Right now we are not a good team. At least 5 dropped passes today (mostly on Finley) were inexcusable. This should have been a 38-10 blowout, but instead we let a below average team with a rookie QB beat us. Subpar effort, falls on coaches and players alike.

I was thinking the same. Maybe they're just not that good any more. Maybe they grew complacent and teams are passing them by. I don't know. Maybe the breaks they got last year are coming back on them.

Perhaps my homerism is blinding me but I still feel like they're one of the more talented teams and just seem to be getting out-efforted. But maybe they really just are not that much better than mediocre.

I'd have to say a very big play in the game... the PF on Perry on the sack/fumble/recovery...

11:31 2nd Ind 3rd & 5 at Ind32 Andrew Luck sacked at Ind17 for a loss of 8 yards by Nick Perry. Penalty: Unnecessary Roughness on Green Bay (Nick Perry) 15 yards.

It gave them a 1st down - and sure - they punted but ended up scoring after we went 3/out.

Another 3 or 7 points there could've been big.

Sometimes I wish they'd let mean/clean hits go.

Seriously, though. Rodgers is still looking deep a lot and it seems to kill them at times. That or he is getting reluctant to pull the trigger in small windows and not taking throws he would have routinely made last year. Maybe a bit of both...

the roughing call on Perry's sack and that PI on shields. Both plays hurt.

But lets face it, this is a team we should have blown apart. They were starting back ups at CB. The offense is loaded w/ rookies. Yet we let Wayne ass fuck us the entire game. HOW THE FUCK DOES THAT HAPPEN?

The entire team disappeared in the 2nd half apparently on cruise control because of the lead. no killer instinct and a lot of bad play and coaching.

Both the Vikings and Bears are ROLLING, Mother Fucking Rolling, over the Titans and Jags, respectively - as they should be. Yet we let a sub-par team hang around and in the end, screw us up the ass with no lube. I'm so frustrated with this entire team.

Good teams beat teams that they should. I guess the Packers just aren't good. With McCarthy's "Let's go for it all," play calling, Caper's "I can't adjust on the fly" defense and players still having "miscommunication" in the secondary - there's no way this team is going to be able to even sniff the playoffs.

Ok, I'll back away from the edge now.

You're mostly right, but Rodgers was not horrible. Not great, but when your offense produces 4 TD's you should win. The defense let one receiver beat them, and that is unacceptable.

Colts played like crap for a half because they were too keyed up. Packers should have buried them so they couldn't use it as motivation in 2nd half.

I think we need Bretsky to bring the Whammy back. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

I think Rodgers concern about the line (esp. Newhouse who held up alright) is hurting him. Take that plus losing Jennings, Finley being in a receiving coma, then Benson going out; that is a precision offense that has lost a lot of its precision, lost the guy who is so big and talented that precision used to not matter plus the banger who keeps cover 2 honest. Its not all that is wrong, Cobb, Jones and Jordy should be able to do something, but Rodgers clearly does not trust them as much as he does Jennings.

That thrown in the second half to Jordy in the middle of the field with a LB underneath and a safety over the top, he airmailed it so almost no one could catch it, but there was a window for Nelson there. But he didn't want to risk a pick.

And I still don't think that was a crown of the helmet hit by Perry. Replay may make a liar of me, but I think it was clean.

Back to Fringe.

I'm all for it but it's versus Houston Texans and that's just not fair to Bs chances for a new W streak.

Replay showed why a flag was thrown - at least to me it did. Perry's helmet got under Lucks chin and pushed his helmet up a smidge. In real time, it probably looked like helmet to helmet. Still a bad call, but I see why the flag was thrown.

That PI on Shields though, I just don't understand. I've rewatched it 5 times, I give up. Refs are out for Green Bay, I swear.

oh don't worry, we are all well aware that he dropped the ball BEFORE he was injured

At least he was open enough for Rodgers to throw him the ball. He's got the drops but why in the hell couldn't Nelson or somebody ELSE get open in the second half?

how bout the PI on shields with perfect coverage again and getting shoved, Indy scored on that drive. Complete bullshit calls again this week.....

I thought that was on Tramon?

They did. It was called a penalty.

It seems strange to say given the success Reggie Wayne was able to have in this game but the Green Bay coverage was actually pretty good. They essentially shut down everybody except Wayne, and he was at an unplayable level for much of the game. Tramon Williams (+4.3), Sam Shields (+1.2), Charles Woodson (+1.5) and Casey Hayward (+2.1) all graded positively in coverage, combining for seven passes defensed and an interception. Williams led the charge with five PD’s to himself and allowed 10 yards on two catches from 9 targets on passes intended for anybody other than Wayne in the game. Without Wayne making frankly ridiculous plays all through the game, they would have left Luck with nowhere to go with the ball on numerous occasions.

Just insane. 20 targets to Wayne.

They should have double-teamed Wayne in the 2nd half. It was obvious by then he was having a great game. Take him out of the game and make their other rather average receivers beat you.

I replayed the flagged Perry play a few times in order to figure out what the ref said in explanation of the penalty. The stupid announcers couldn't keep their mouths shut long enough, and were talking about the wrong thing anyway.

What the ref said was not that Perry was flagged for helmet to helmet, but that he was flagged for hitting a defenseless player with his helmet (AKA spearing). It didn't matter if he went for the chest. He led with his helmet and was thusly flagged. Meanwhile the announcers are talking about helmet to helmet...

Not sure what Perry is supposed to do there. If he doesn't lower his helmet, then it's probably helmet to helmet. Is he supposed to aim his right shoulder for Luck's right shoulder and tackle him with his right arm?

Not a bad strategy....not sure why Capers or Stubby didn't come up with such a concept though. The few highlights I saw today really bummed me out....I listened to the game on Sirius, and as good as the radio announcers are watching a collapse is much worse than listening to one. :)

WTF was up with Crosby? Fuck man...at least get it close.

WTF happened at the end of the game with the TO?

They should have game planned to take Wayne away and make Brown and the other WR beat us. Now we face one of the best next week and I can only imagine what Calvin Johnson is going to do to us when we play Det later.

fuck we couldn't take away Indy's only weapon and now we go up against an extremely talented and balanced Texan team w/ multiple weapons.

It was absolutely a stupid play by Perry - everyone knows you can't lead with your helmet. The ref made the right call... and I knew it was a penalty before the flag was thrown.

The Packers are poorly coached and undisciplined. All of the mental mistakes and penalties scream unpreparedness - that's on the coaching staff.

Turns out, Capers said they were double teaming Wayne at times.

http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/173187761.html

"He’s a good receiver and he had a good day," Capers said. "There were times where we had him doubled and he caught the ball. Any time that you have two guys committed to one guy, you don’t want him to come up with the ball. The percentages should be in your favor. He had a good day and Luck, as we talked about last week, is a talented young man. You saw he’s a big, strong guy. He’s got good movement. There were a couple times where we had him wrapped up and he kind of shook us off and pulled the ball down in a couple of critical situations. A couple other times, he scrambled outside – and that was after taking some pretty good hits."

Not sure what's worse. Not double-teaming a guy who's killing you, or double-teaming a guy and still not being able to stop him.

Been avoiding this place for 2 days because I had the game recorded and wanted to watch it spoiler free.

Wow. Just wow, I can't believe what I saw. It was a total collapse.

The main thing that got me was the 2-x-x formations. I know Raji went down, but were we left without enough healthy linemen? Why did we have 2 down linemen time after time when Indi was running the ball so much in that quarter???

That PI against Shields...

Not as bad as the Seahawks one was.

But good for you. I missed the Saints game and couldn't watch it until the following Wednesday. I managed to avoid mention of anything NFL except on a teleconference when someone wanted to talk about the Panthers...
