http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/15/packers-seeking-g-4-funds-for-further-lambeau-renovations/

so yesterday the packers requested g-4 funds from the league at the owners meeting. the g-4 fund makes between 50 and 200 million dollars available to a team in order to renovate or expand their current stadiums.

the current south endzone expansion is costing around $130 million, which is already paid for.

so what the hell are the going to do next? anyone heard anything or have any ideas?

They had intended to use land they had acquired around Lambeau to create some sort of retail space and other development. They put that off while the economy was down, but I don't remember ay mention of League funds for that project.

I wonder if the G4 funds need to be for the Stadium proper or if development around the area is eligible.

i thought the same thing at first, but the article make it sound like it has to be used on the actual stadium

I recommend a self-supporting upper deck cantilevered over the existing bowl. It should add another 30-50,000 capacity, and get that waiting list down!

Wouldn't it be less expensive to use permanently moored dirigibles from which to suspend seating and Jumbo-Trons?

Edit: If you used those sections for visiting Viking fans you could apologize later when the mooring lines came undone and the dirigible floats away over Door County and into Michigan.

And by apologize I mean saying sorry, no refunds.

Dome seating. They will build a dome and put seats up there that you get to like some carny ride. It'll add another 20K seats, but will be a real bitch for the vendors.

Retractable dome has been done. Even Geodesic dome is being considered by the Browns. (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/10/15/cleveland-architects-propose-geodesic-dome-for-browns/)http://nbcprofootballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2012/10/geodesicdome02-e1350302140314.jpg?w=400

I say they go original and design retractable/expandable bowl seating. Need seating 40,000? Lower it 20 feet. Need 90,000? Raise it 30 feet.

Sort of like an upside down chafing dish with lid, minus the sterno.

The only addition to Lambeau I want to see is me on Dec. 23, watching a playoff bound team.

I lost my shit laughing at the suggestion. Good going, swede.

I hang around with engineers. I find that a lot of my serious technical suggestions make them laugh.

I'm probably going to this game also. We should grab a beer and I'll let you have a slice of my tailgate pizza (curds and brat slices, honestly heaven) at Distillery.
