Do you guys believe MM is making the right move by sticking with this guy? I can't think of another team in the NFL that would show this much loyalty to a kicker.

59% 15 weeks into the season is ridiculously and I truly believe hes going to cost us a big game.

Hi:

Check out the thread below entitled:

Where's Waldo?.

Mason Crosby...much discussed in that thread.

I think they're taking the gamble that they can get him straightened out, and if so, he's better than anyone they could pick up. It's a huge gamble though. If they play the 49ers in the playoffs, they're probably going to need some field goals to win. Touchdowns will be tough to come by.

Dare I say we cannot win a SB with Crosby? Somewhere, we're going to need a big kick.

KY mentioned the Bengal kickers in another thread....one of them has to get cut soon...at least one would thing so. Bring whoever gets cut in for a tryout. Keep Crosby if you want but the Packers need someone else in for FGs at this time.

I could see, after Woodson and Nelson are healthy, moving to pickup a kicker to attempt all the inside 45 yard kicks.

This thing is crazy. I definitely might have to keep a fifth of Jaeger around for FGs.

Haven't seen you for awhile. Good to have you back.

I thought MC had his groove back last week but then he missed those yesterday. Disturbing but I don't know what else is out there.

I thought the first one yesterday was definitely tipped in real time. But there wasn't a clear replay, and I didn't have a rewind. Am I the only one who thought that?

Maybe it's just me but, it seems like when Crosby kicks, the ball heads right down the middle at first and then takes a sharp turn towards the end. Even on a couple of extra points the ball seemed to hook after going through. Anyone else see this? Am I out of my mind? If not, anyone know what would cause it?

Dude has not been the same since getting married and signing the big contract.

Bring in Longwell for a try-out.

Agree that MC's current dismal performance could cost us an important play-off victory.

yup, i'm seeing it too. he's got a slice that he sometimes over corrects into a hook

maybe he needs a square toe and a straight on approach

I think Rodgers NOT throwing to an open Finley is more likely to lose us a game before Crosby missing a FG; though I expect if Crosby or some weak-legged replacement is kicking in the playoffs, Stubby is going to eschew FGs longer than 40 yards. Go Defense!

Cut Crosby and sign someone off the street who then loses you a playoff game, and you're screwed. Keep the faith with Crosby and he misses a game winner in the playoffs and you're screwed. Hope MM keeps a jar of vaseline on the sideline!

What are we to read into this post pbmax? That we don't have a true shot anyway without C. Woodson and J. Nelson totally healthy and productive? If so I agree with you. We presently have pieces to the puzzle missing as we see our team fine tune.

That's irrelevant to the specific issue of our team failing dramatically in the kicking game. We're concentrating on this piece of the puzzle here.

It's my position as things are with our kicker, that we're dead in the water. Don't count on getting a playoff game in San Fran. We're seeing Mike McCarthy error in terms of decision making. We see MM making some risky 4th down moves of late, that we assume are as a result of no confidence in Mason Crosby.

TT and MM know that as our kicking game is we will not go deep in the playoffs..

I expect to see a new kicker in the Green and Gold soon unless Mason Crosby demonstrates a positive reaction to certain emergency Vs Tennessee. Mason Crosby has to be tested this week Vs the Titans from 50 yards in. No more 4th down and long gambles. MM knows better than to take such risks.

The kicking problem 'will be handled' more positively one way or the other. I've got confidence we'll see a move for 'at least' a temporary fix soon.

Long term...we need a kicker with a different head than Mason Crosby.

GO PACKERS !

We're going to be getting a deep look into the mentality of TT and MM over this issue.

How stubborn are these men? This issue calls for one thing.

Intelligence.

We need mason's body and a new brain. The solution is hypnosis, I tells ya. Put the whammy on Mason so that he comes out the tunnel thinking "I am Greg Zuerlein, I am Greg Zuerlein."

17 for 29 attempts with misses in eight straight games?

That's extreme loyalty in today's NFL.

I would be happy if they just convinced him every kick was 29 yards. Don't let him try one past 45 until he sees someone in the offseason. Then they can do the full Zuerlein.

MM: Well I asked Ted about Mason and he just scratched his head.

Packer fan: Just scratced his head!?

MM: Yup, and you know...all that dandruff.

Packer fan: Dandruff!? What about Mason?

MM: I recommended Neutrogena not Mason.

At this point could they really be any worse? I would just like to see them bring in a guy or two and take a look at them. MM keeps saying Mason is our guy. He has the utmost confidence in him. Then he goes for it on 4th down instead of kicking a 43 yd FG. Doesn't sound like confidence to me.

NO! Can't be. So..... what's left?

acting stupid? No head coach of the Green Bay Packers ever had that negative trait.

stubborness?

stubborn: Adjective

1. Having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, esp. in spite of good arguments or reasons.

2. Difficult to move, remove, or cure.

I'm not trying to be heartless but if his personal issues are making him unable to perform his job then put him on some kind of psychologically unable to play list and bring someone, anyone in. I wasn't on the change kickers wagon until this last game. I just thought he would work it out like before but it doesn't appear to be happening this season. Can't be having this shit in the playoffs.

Time for a bumperooski.

Houston, we have a situation.

Bengal PK Mike Nugent has returned to practice. He had some calf trouble a month ago, so Cincy signed Josh Brown who kicked for the Rams and Seahawks. The Rams cut Brown when they signed super kicker Zuerlin. Brown is only 33 and is dependable. He was 8 of 9 for the Bengals with a long of 52. His only miss came when Marvin Lewis made him try a 54 yarder at Heinz field Sunday. He eventually won the game with a 40 yarder with 4 seconds left.

Brown is like an old dependable pick-up. Crosby is a broken down Maserati that you can't get parts for.

The Bengals will probably cut Brown this week.

If they do, I say we snap him up.

Cut Crosby, then have him come back next season for a kicking competition with Brown and some new guys.

It's only 50 - 50 that the Bungals cut Brown, they also put a guy on IR so they could keep both K's.

OOOps.

I was trying to get some scoop into the old forum, but it was premature.

Douse the bat signal for Josh Brown. Mike Nugent (the original K this season for Cincy) re-injured his calf and couldn't practice today.

So Brown won't hit the waiver wire.

Too bad, but I dunno what the Pack would have done with Brown anyway.

Well, the Mason Crosby talk has quieted down on the board here after his solid two-for-two last week. I see an article in the GBPG today about the contrast between the way the Packers handled the kicking problems versus the way the Niners did. They brought in Billy Cundiff, and he and Akers are competing this week to see who will kick field goals next week in the playoffs.

Wouldn't it be funny if the Packers win Saturday against the Queefs, and then the Niners lost to the Pack due to a missed FG by their kicker?

Sign Josh Brown? I never said that!
