Those entrusted with keeping AR's limbs attached and brain unscrambled:

LT - 5th round pick (#169)
LG - 4th round pick (#109)
C - undrafted
RG - 4th round pick (#135)
RT - undrafted

Reserve center - undrafted
Reserve interior - undrafted

Potential call-ups from Practice squad:
- 7th round pick (#241)
- undrafted
- undrafted

Is this the least resume-rich O-line in the history of the NFL?
10 players, 6 not drafted, a 7th round pick, a 5th and two 4ths.

Could be. Part of this is having two 1st round picks on IR. This is an area where Wolf and Thompson seemed to part though. Wolf felt if he could just keep Favre upright by drafting OL, Favre would get the job done. Thompson seems to have focused more on making sure Rodgers has an array of weapons to throw to.

The current line is not the one envisioned by TT and company. Guys starting at tackle were penciled in as backups while our prefered tackles were high picks. We had hoped our C would have held up better until 2013. Saturday was undrafted back in 1998. You can get good linemen without drafting high but lately teams are drafting tackles higher than in the past.

LT - first round pick (#32)
RT - first round pick (#23)

I don't think TT has placed any less emphasis on it than Wolf, injuries and lack of success have gotten them to this point. TT has drafted 14 O-linemen, at least one each year. He has taken 2 in the 1st rounds, 1 in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 6th rounds, 2 in the 4th and 5 in the 5th rounds.

I'm not suggesting this has come about by design, lack of attention or failure. It's just the reality of where they are. Often, this would be a disaster in the making, and it still might be for the Packers if another injury or two crops up.

I don't agree with Joe that this is where Thompson and Wolf part ways in the drafting of O lineman, but I do believe it is partly by design.

I suspect if Wolf were here, some former draftee would have been signed. Not saying he would have been better, but there would be fewer UDFAs as backups I bet.

Now Wolf operated in a cap era where by simply being semi-judicious with contracts could net you some choice FAs as teams went overboard and then had to dump salary. Were he still in charge, that would have changed over the last decade as it has with Thompson and Brandt/Ball.

But I suspect Wolf would pull the trigger on a vet faster. I think Thompson's an McCarthy's success shows that its more often a tossup between grizzled, drafted vet on downside versus young UDFA.

Thompson should just draft OL in the 4th round. Those guys have worked out well.
