Other than Calvin Johnson going for the single season WR yardage record, the Lions have packed it in for the year.

3rd and 10 for ATL at about the 40 yard line of DET and Matt Ryan has to throw to his check down at the line of scrimage. The DET defensive player was sitting at the first down marker. He takes two steps toward the ATL RB and waits for the RB to deliver the blow and get the first down instead of closing 5 yards short of the first.

Matthew Stafford (15/19 for 183 yards) and and Calvin Johnson, 6 receptions for 117 yards are showing big numbers for the first half. Actually Calvin Johnson looks really good to break Jerry Rice's total yards receiving record tonight needing just ** 65 more yards.

We know that Matthew Stafford will swing it to him in the second half.

** Make that 51 more yards as he's already added 14 more in the second half and there's 6:59 left in the 3rd Qtr. The score is Falcons 21 Lions 13. A one possession game. It's heating up as the LIONS can close fast.

4-6-ATL 38(5:30) M.Bosher punts 47 yards to DET 15, Center-J.Harris, fair catch by S.Logan.

OK here the LIONS go again. Right now Jerry Rice is on the phone talking to Jon Gruden and the announcer about Calvin Johnson. Jerry Rice says the record falls tonight. That records are meant to be broken and that he'd be the first to congratulate Megatron.

Two more catchs on this drive place him four yards away ! That record will 'in fact' fall very soon.

Here are the plays:

3-4-DET 33(2:54) (Shotgun) M.Stafford pass short middle to C.Johnson to ATL 41 for 26 yards (D.Robinson).

WATCH HIGHLIGHT

1-10-ATL 41(2:10) (Shotgun) M.Leshoure up the middle to ATL 38 for 3 yards (S.Nicholas).

2-7-ATL 38(1:27) (Shotgun) R.Reiff reported in as eligible. M.Stafford pass deep right to C.Johnson to ATL 17 for 21 yards (A.Samuel).

Just four more yards to go for Calvin Johnson to own the record.

No kidding on going 2000 for the season. He'd be Iron Man to get it done tonight....333 yards receiving. He has 178 yards now with 7:12 remaining in the game.

Score .... Falcons 28 LIONS 16.

Gwet errr done Matthew...get the ball on Calvin Johnson.

There it is... THE NEW RECORD ...CALVIN JOHNSON gets a standing ovation from the Detroit fans with a big 26 yard catch and run; and actually Calvin Johnson has set records galore tonight including most games in a season exceeding 100 yards receiving.

Here's the play:

1-10-DET 20(3:05) (Shotgun) M.Stafford pass short middle to C.Johnson ran ob at DET 46 for 26 yards (D.Robinson).

The highlight is on NFL.Com.

Cavin Johnson has 204 yards tonight and 1866 yards on the season.

Matthew 'PASS' Stafford

Another 56 pass's tonight (678 on the season) and 443 yards. He's pressing in on Bledsoe's record. He'll pass Drew Bledsoe's pass attempts in a season record (691) next game.

Megatron is at 11 receptions for a whopping 225 yards. 1892 yards for this RECORD season. So he needs 108 yards for 2000 on the season.

It's now Sunday...Gameday !

Eleven early games and how's Adrian Peterson doing @ Houston Texans?

With 8:15 remaining in the 2nd Qtr. He's got 9 carries for 37 yards and a long of 20 yards. The Vikings are actually leading 10-3 after ** a NFL record setting 9th straight >50 yard ...56 yard FG by Blair Walsh. The Viking 'D' looks solid today.

You can see that FG at the one minute mark of the following video:

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2012122310/2012/REG16/vikings@texans#menu=highlights&tab=recap

So the Adrian Peterson watch is down to 257 yards to the record.

We're all over the Titans so far with 7:49 remaining in the first half by a score of 17-0.

woodbuck27
12-23-2012, 02:23 PM
Through 3 quarters Adrian Peterson has a 21 yard and 2 x 20 yard runs and a total of 77 yards on 19 carries.

Vikings lead Texans 16-6 and look really good to upset them on the road.

Now AP has 22 carries for a total of 85 yards with 12:18 remaining in the game. He looks good for another 100 yard game.

He's 209 yards short of Eric Dickerson's record.

woodbuck27
12-23-2012, 02:42 PM
Good Lord ! The Vikings will defeat the Texans.

It's 23-6 with 4:44 remaining in that game.

Tough sleding now for AP. He's only managed one more yard on 4 carries and has 86 yards total on 25 carries.

Watch ... 208 yards to go for the record.

I'm looking at a scenario where the Seahawks lose at home tonight and again at home vs the RAMS next week.

The Vikings lose to the Packers next week.

The Bears lose to the Lions next week.

The Skins lose to the Cowboys next week.

The GIANTS win at home Vs the Eagles next week.

In that scenario we would see a six way tie with all teams holding a 9-7 record:

Seahawks, Vikings and Bears (NFC North), Skins, Cowboys and Giants (NFC East).

Do the Skins then win the NFC East?

Seahawks and Vikings earn the #5 and #6 seeds respectively?

The rule may be lame, but I don't think it was a bad call.

Hits on Defenseless Players
NFL rules provide special protection to defenseless players, by prohibiting (a) hits delivered to their head or neck area by an opponent with his helmet (including facemask), forearm, or shoulder, and (b) hits delivered by an opponent with his helmet (including the top/crown and forehead/"hairline" parts) against any part of the defenseless player's body (i.e., "butting, spearing, or ramming" a defenseless player.)

I think that was close enough to the neck area to draw the flag.

Pretty sure the winner of the Dallas/Washington game wins the NFC East.

I believe that was what I read too but I don't understand it unless ** It's Dallas here!

Check this:

NFC East ...............W L T... Pct ....PF... PA... Net Pts... Home.... Road...... Div...... Conf ....Last 5...... Streak
Washington Redskins 9 6 0... .600.. 408.. 370... +38...... 4-3-0..... 5-3-0.... 4-1-0.....7-4-0.... 5-0-0...... Won 6
Dallas Cowboys....... 8 7 0... .533.. 358.. 372.... -14 ......4-4-0..... 4-3-0.... 3-2-0.... 5-6-0..... 3-2-0...... Lost 1
New York Giants...... 8 7 0... .533.. 387.. 337... +50...... 5-2-0..... 3-5-0.... 2-3-0.... 7-4-0..... 2-3-0...... Lost 2

If Dallas wins at Washington next week then both will finish with a 9-7 record.

The Redskins will have split games with Dallas.

The Skins and Cowboys will have a 4-2 record in the NFCE.

The Skins record in the Conference will be 7-5 Vs the Cowboys Conference record of 6-6.

How do the Dallas Cowboys then... get the tie break?

** I'm guessing that it comes down to the third tie breaker or best won-lost-tied percentage in common games before the fourth ... best won-lost-tied percentage in games played within the conference.

Dallas must have the edge over the Skins in common games!?

Seattle is very aggressive but smaller. Rodgers will be much quicker to take advantage of that than Kaepernick, especially the second time around. If the receiver never had the ball, I agree with it. But the TE had the ball in his gut. It's the defender's job to separate the ball from the receiver. If the receivers head doesn't snap back no flag gets thrown.

that fuckward for the cheaters launches himself head first at the best player on the 49ers and knocks davis out of the game. with an illegal hit

penalty was half the distance to the goal, at worse it would have been a 15 yard penalty.

that seems light for illegaly knocking the best player from the other team out of the game. if i'm a defensive player, i go chuck cecil on everyones ass. who cares about the 15 yard penalty if it knocks the guy out of the game

They put up 108 points Vs their last two 'for lack of a better word' .... 'opponents'. So their on a 56 point pace tonight....and they have a tremendous 'D' that's tied for first with that team their dominating tonight.

I believe over their last 10 quarters the score... Seattle Seahawks 136 - Opponents 23.

I wouldn't want anything to do with them. The Seahawks are becoming SEA MONSTERS!

Meh. They're good, sure. I've seen the raw score numbers coming out the last few weeks.

I'm just saying that a good QB will take advantage of their aggressiveness yet. All drooling aside, Kaepernick is still green as grass.

They're not the same on the road. I like our chances with Seattle.

Wilson is better now than he was the last time the Packers saw him, methinks.

Sure. But the Packers are also better. They've figured out who they are this year.

You can bet your ass this game will be different in San Fran too. Especially with Justin Smith.

Injuries are also starting to load up on the Niners after a pretty good run of health on their part.

True. Still, the Packers have to bring their A-game if they play the Seahawks. Heck, the Packers need to bring their A-game regardless of who they play.

I dont wanna see another 1 and done. Last time the Packers went 1 and done, they made me miss the SB for the 1st time since 1991 I just couldn't stand to watch another down of football after that loss to the fucking Giants. :-(

Just tuned in to this game. Is SF that bad, or Seattle that good?

RashanGary

SF came out thinking Kapernick could handle more than he could. They had the delay of games, the time outs. . . . Seattle is a great team, especially at home. SF is beat up. Justin Smith is a huge loss for them, and it's only getting worse.

SF is falling off with the injuries. Seattle is peaking. . . . . The NFC is still a tough road, but the way we're playing, with the possible bye. . . . We can win 2 straight against these teams, any of them. We could lose too. . . We'll find out.

I'd like to see Seattle go to Atlanta. I could see them giving ATL fits. Would be nice to have a home road to the SB!

I don't want to see Seattle go to Atlanta. Assuming we win next week, we'd be the #2 seed and Seattle would be #3. The only way they could go to Atlanta is by beating us first.

SF is still the #3 seed. It will stay that way unless they lose to Arizona next week.

SF is still over Seattle. 10-4-1 vs 10-5. SF should win next week vs Arizona.

It would be SF against a wild card team most likely and Seattle against the East winner. You never know how it's going to shake out, but Seattle is more likely to go to ATL than to GB in the divisional game I think. Unless SF crumbles and never recovers. It might end up being Seattle going to SF in the wildcard matchup.

So he suppose to let him walk into the end zone. Just put a dress on him then.

With the rules now, you have to drill the player in the belly or waist. When you go up high and leave the ground it's 15 every time.

SEA looked good tonight. But I like our match-up with their zone run play. Clay chased down Vick. I think he will chase down Wilson if he pulls the ball back from Lynch.

Don't be hard on yourself Harvey. The way things change from week to week, it's a challenge to keep up even if your dialed in.

That hit was legal it should never had been call a personal foul. I don't know what your are smoking that was a bad call favoring the 49ers. Lucky for the Hawks they came to play and blocked a easy field goal making that bad call worthless...
Seahawks safety Kam Chancellor not fined for textbook tackle. Chancellor might have been the easiest call of the week. As expected, Chancellor was not punished for the hit that knocked 49ers tight end Vernon Davis out of last week’s game.profootballtalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/12/28/chancellor-not-fined-for-textbook-tackle/)
Like I said it was a legal hit.
