Root for the Ravens? Why?
Root for Jim Harbaugh? Never.
Let's hope for a tie and for Bud Selig to call it a night.
But more likely, San Fran 27, Ravens 24

I've got my prop bet in, and I think I got pretty good odds - 1.75:1 that CK does not finish the game due to injury. Pays double it it's not a Ravens starting LB (Lewis, Suggs, Krugger, Ellerbe (?)).
I think Baltimore's defense is going to break him in half. Too bad Siragusa is retired.

The crowd in for the game just feels so sterile.
On the street, it was reported all week Ravens over 49er fans 10 to 1 by jersey. First reports from writers at stadium (and the Jonathan Ogden reaction) say its definitely a Raven crowd.
Poor Dave Robinson was after Ogden in that HoF lineup. Poor plan.

To have two receivers eligible on one side of the field (or three for that matter), one of the receivers needs to be off the LOS by a yard. If you on on the LOS, then its called covering up the player inside of you.
It helps the D identify who is eligible for a pass.

pbmax
02-03-2013, 06:42 PM
Let me point out that the Ravens D, which has been mauled all year and whose most effective lineman might be Kruger is having no problem matching up with the 49ers O. Their toughness versus the run has been a problem all year long. It does help to get Suggs and Lewis back, but I am not sure the problem is toughness or lineman exclusively.
There is no excuse for the D performance in the playoff game.

its part of the silent count. Guard reads the QB while center watches defense. He then turns his head back around and yells at the center to start the count and look for the QB to signal for the snap.

They didn't react much faster. Half hour + to get the lights back on. Buzz is that the incoming feed to the stadium went down. My job is actually to manage/prevent black outs. If this location is supposed to be 'high availability' they just failed incredibly miserably. We design systems to shed load and drop offline before they trip and come back online in a minute on the outside. Maybe field lighting is low priority? I guess it would be.

Missed call on hit OOB.
Good call IMO. Not a vicious hit and didn't affect play. It was inconsistent with what we see all year though.

I believe point spread was 4. Between that and squares, how much money changed hands on the safety?

Also, an old intentionally illegal play on the punt safety. Baltimore was holding everywhere in the end zone. If its called, its a safety. If its not, you can keep the clock winding with the punter alive.

Couple of dumb fucks in the booth applauding the Hairball time out for confused Kaepernick, but then didn't acknowledge how that extra time out would have actually given them a reasonable final drive.
Why did Kap get a delay of game on a play where he was going to keep the ball? Just crazy.

what about the 'intentional holding' penalty? I believe Game Carimi got called for that several times against SF this year!

Its happened previously to them. They make at least one check per play out of the pistol. If Ravens move personnel, its more than one check. And he isn't as fast as Manning at it.

Congrats to the Ravens and Flacco. He's underrated by a lot of people, just ask him. No, seriously though, he's a really good player. He's one of about 10 guys you like your chances to win a SB with. Gotta hope Kaepernick doesn't have great teams behind him. He's on his way to being an elite QB.

Truth? I wanted Jim Harbaugh to lose so bad that this Super Bowl is now in a solid third place of all-time favorites.
The animus goes all the way back to my remembering his antics at Camp Randall as Michigan QB. He bitched and bitched his way into getting the refs to make calls against the Badgers that cost us the game.

Advanced NFL Stats had a pretty devastating writeup on Deadspin and Slate about how many seconds would have been left for a final drive (TD or FG) for each of the timeouts they wasted in the second half.

I was a Michigan fan and could not stand the guy. If anything, he's gotten even whinier over the years. He certainly appears to be an ass clown or hole, depending on your diction preference.
