Erik did not get his own thread for his departure, he went in here with the rest of the League.

But I wanted to point out this article from GBPG:

http://www.packersnews.com/article/20130319/PKR0101/130319031

Chuck Pagano knows what happened in San Fran and he is still not scared. He likes Walden to set an edge against the run game and the fact that he can pressure a QB. He seems a bit like he's doing a sales job to GBPG, but he might be better in a 3-4 than the guy he is replacing. Which would be Dwight Freeny. Can't believe I just wrote that.

Freeney fell off the map as a 3-4 OLB. He has 5 sacks, but only 12 tackles for the whole year. It wouldn't be hard for Walden to top that.

i think woody made a post talking about how much the colts liked "how he held the edge"

i can honestly say, i can't remember one time where he effectively did that task

i think they got him confused with someone else from some other team

Physically, he can hold the edge. But mentally, he bites on the inside fake too much.

He had some good games vs the Bears for us.

But he had some stench bombs, too.

The Chiefs game in '11, SF play-off in '12 would be enough to scare me off if I was Chuck P.

That's some fugly tape in those two ball games.

I don't re-call making that post if I did red.

What I see in Eric Walden is he has the right physical attributes - height and body weight. Alot of potential based in his atleticism. That athleticism or the tools to be very good.

When he came to us (2010) with virtually no NFL game experience; really got his shot. He looked good too outstanding. At the end of that 2010 season and during our Super Bowl run, he looked like a gem. I mean don't we all remember how impressed we were?

From there and over the past two seasons his play didn't simply decline but it fell off a cliff. He wasn't good and still started 24 of 32 games over the past two seasons. 60 tackles and 3 sacks in 2011 and 46 tackles and 3 sacks last season (2012). Here's his Stat profile from NFL.Com:

Flash back to this past season and that come from behind win for the Colts over us. Eric Walden played good in that game. If the Colts scouted him in that game realizing his potential FA status? That might explain why they went hard after him. Overpay for his services based on his past with us. Eric Walden certainly looks like he has it and 'in fact' he does; but 'only' on certain 'rare' days. :!:

Holy cow! I just googled Eric Walden and look at this. Sorry if the source bugs you but I think they got this one bang on. It's on topic at least:

GO PACKERS !

While searching again I found this. Maybe this impressed the COLTS?

After reading it I thought to myself. The author lost his calling and should have been writing propaganda.

Packers' Walden due for a raise
