New in Town was way over the top in terms of portraying Minnesota people...but Fargo was dead on. That guy shoveling snow and talking to the cop about his interaction with the Steve Buscemi character was so authentic they probably just stopped in St. Paul and asked a guy with a shovel to read a few lines.

My aunt's barn burned down and she said it wasn't too good of a deal.
