You can bet on one or two of these cracking the 53 man roster.

Lane Taylor, offensive line, Oklahoma St.
Taylor is 6-3, 324 with shorter arms and giant hands. He didn't allow a single sack in 2012 in over 850 snaps of action at right guard. He appears to be very limited as an athlete. Some have projected him to center.

Ben Ericksen, safety, Illinois St.
Ericksen is 6-1, 195 with nice athleticism. He ran a 4.42 at his pro-day with solid numbers all around. He was pretty productive too with 7 ints last year. He's also a Greenville, WI native.

Matt Brown, quarterback, Illinois St.
Brown is 6-3, 229 and was a four-year starter. He threw for 3,370 and 27 touchdowns which was good enough for offensive player of the year for whatever conference Illinois State plays in. He also rush for seven TDs . His career numbers include 10,591 yards and 87 TDs. Pretty athletic.

Gilbert Pena, defensive tackle, Ole Miss
Pena is 6-3, 330. He's 26 years old already because he took time off of football to take care of his mom with cancer.

Jake Stoneburner, tight end, Ohio State
Stoneburner is 6-4, 252 and ran a 4.53. Most people thought that would be enough to get drafted. He's got good hands and is versatile enough to do all the things TE's do in the NFL. 11 TD's over the last two seasons.

Jeremy Vujnovich, tackle, Louisiana College
Vujnovich is 6-5, 290 and ran a 4.87 and had 35 reps of 225. Probably a guy you want to stash on your practice squad and get him bulked up and ready for the NFL.

Patrick Lewis, center, Texas A&M
Lewis is 6-1, 311 and versatile. He was a 4 year starter at guard and a center. The Packers had him in for a predraft visit.

Andy Mulumba, outside linebacker, Eastern Michigan
Mulumba is 6-3, 260. He’s played both as a down lineman and standing up. He's Canadian but doesn't seem crazy. He's expected to be taken in the CFL draft. His workout numbers are good enough to succeed but I can't find proof that he ever got a sack in college so he's probably awful.

Myles White, wide receiver, Louisiana Tech
White is 6-1, 185. Very similar to our 7th round pick Charles Johnson in that he's bounced around to 3 different schools and ran a 4.42 and all this other workout numbers were just as good. Also got arrested for public urination and possession.

Angelo Pease, running back, Kansas State
Pease is 5-10, 211 and ran a 4.5. He wasn't particularly productive at Kansas State but did all kinds of shit at the Juco level before that. He was a runner, passer, returner, and safety.

James Winchester, long snapper, Oklahoma
He has an awesome name and snaps the ball.

Devin Willis, cornerback, Northern Arizona
Willis is 6-0, 178. He's from Miami, had 41 tackles and an interception last year. I just googled for like 10 minutes to find any hint as to why someone would want this guy on their NFL roster and then I found a youtube video of him doing the 3-cone drill at a northern arizona pro day in front of like 10 people. His time was 6.32 which is the fastest I've ever heard of.

Wow that guy was an animal in that shithole conference. Rag dolling twerpy lineman is one thing but chasing down guys from behind on the other side of the field? The refs should have just stopped the game after that happened.

Kind of a Dezman Moses type dude.

College lineman who should have been a backer all along.

Keep the thread title, should draw interest.

The conference he played in is the Missouri Valley Football Conference, and it's the best conference in FCS. Two-time FCS champion, North Dakota State, plays in the conference. Plenty of NFL players come from the conference. (CB Marcus Williams of NDSU is projected to go in round 2 or 3 next year.) I was going to say he didn't have a lot of luck against NDSU, but then realized that the 20 points Illinois State scored were the second most NDSU gave up last year (Northern Iowa scored 21)--as NDSU had the best defense in FCS last year by far.

A few of these guys sound intriguing. Probably the Illinois State kids the most--especially the safety from Wisconsin. I know NDSU kids are overlooked, but there are several playing in the NFL, so it wouldn't be surprising if one of the Illinois State kids made it. Pretty good praise from the scouts regarding those two and OC Patrick Lewis. (It's hard to get excited about 6'1" OC though.) Ericksen was overlooked by Wisconsin, played receiver for twos years, struggled during his first year at safety, but really came on as a senior with 7 interceptions. He has good size at 6'1" 197, and his measurables rank with the best safeties in the draft (4.44 in the 40 with 36 1/2" vertical). Could be a late bloomer and a surprise in camp.

History tells us that 1 or 2 of these guys are likely to be on the 53 man roster when the season rolls around, and a few more on the practice squad.

Nice to learn a little about them.

My money is on Stoneburner and Erickson.

Stoneburner has a cool name, and he was moved last season from te to WR. Tells me that the coaches thought his receiving skills must be pretty good. His production dropped significantly. He had been considered a pretty good TE prospect prior to that. Playing specifically at WR may help him when we move him back to TE.

Erickson - Packers used to pick up a local kid every year as a gesture to the community. I don't think they do that anymore - and Erickson has some very interesting measurables as well as good production.

Great write-up.

Mulumba is explosive and has a chance. More physical than Moses.

Pena and Lewis may also have chances at roster spots. Hopefully the white boy safety is another John Lynch.

Haha, we need an edit for the title. That's supposed to say 2013 UDFA's. We didn't actually sign 201 of them.

That's a funny feeling when an error in the Thread Title 'may draw interest', with a totally different intention.

It's this...Yea ! Ohh No!! ..... How do I change that? That's not obvious.

I was encouraged. I thought Ted had 'gotten' really busy.

pb / Patler / anyone? :

What's the number of participants allowed .... as TC opens? I'm looking for that without success.

The number '93' is sticking in my head.

I see interesting additions:

A Safety, Ben Erickson, S/WR/ST, Illinois St. ... A developing FS. Adds ST talent and versatility having been a solid WR early in his College career. Wisconsin Gatorade POY in 2008 as a WR/KR specialist;leading the state (1,323 Yards) and TDs (19). That's what we need along with size/strength/ toughness.....athleticism.

Measureables: 6-0½, 197, 4.44/4.51; Vertical of 36½; broad of 10-2 and 16 Reps. OK !

Center Patrick Lewis;Texas A&M ... 6-1, 311; 25 Reps. Campen promised him that he'll get a real shot/look (I'm assuming) fighting for a roster berth.

To me it's this: " Called it "heartbreaking" to say no to the Dolphins because offensive coordinator Mike Sherman and offensive line coach Jim Turner mentored him for three seasons at Texas A&M."

Where does a young hopeful Pro football player invest his start? That has to be a huge/serious decision. That's where a solid agent comes in.

An OLB Andy Molumba, OLB, E. Michigan From Ca Na Da... Cool ... Montreal, Canada. The Montreal, Alouettes will more than likely tag this fella, in the CFL College Draft.

That GUY will be CRAZY ! Hopefully Crazy Good.

More heat on Harris,Green and Starks !

RB Angelo Pease; Kansas State ... Decent Measureables ... 5-10, 215, 4.50. Vertical of 32, broad of 9-5 ; 25 Reps = V. STRONG !

" I got way more potential than I showed. This offense didn't suit me at all. I'm a returner and I'm an athlete. I'm 215, I've got speed, I'm a receiving back and I'm a great blocker as well. I'm excited. I can't wait." ..." That's 'the Stuff' Angelo....woodbuck27

NT Gilbert Pena; Mississippi Overaged !! Measurables: 6-2½, 330, 5.48. Vertical jump of 24, broad jump of 8-0. Arms were 32 ¾, hands were 9½. How STRONG is he? woodbuck27

NFC scout: "Part-time starter. Big, strong plugger. Plays hard. Plays on his feet. Lacks top range. Plays with pretty good effort. Can get off blocks. Pretty good hands. He just doesn't have that get-off. He's kind of a space-eater, hold-the-point guy. Not a penetrator. Good free agent. Not draftable. He played well in the Raycom game."

Prove ** this Guy WRONG Gilbert ! woodbuck27

** AFC scout: "Big guy. Gonna be a nose. Not really a great player. He's a free-agent body that will get in there and bang. I don't expect him to make the team. Great kid. He may make the practice squad. They really liked him there (at Mississippi). Not really a very good player."

GREAT ! A TE Jake Stoneburner; Ohio State From Dublin, Ohio. Good karma there (-;

Dear Lord!

Is this fella a GREEN BAY PACKER !??

" Had his scholarship revoked in June by coach Urban Meyer after being arrested for urinating on a public building and fleeing police."

Comment woodbuck27:

Awful 'just' awful ....Good GOD give me a break. Yea right... no man should ever do/act like that. Any man who hasn't is a man that's living in his own vacuum. The Police must have been having a quiet 'silly clown' night. Arrest and Report...What a couple of Asshats. Sure Boys... do all you can to ruin a young man's life. Forgive 'my Irish', but give me a break.

" We were in contact with Green Bay from the middle of the sixth round on. I had some clubs call, but I had a pretty good idea where I wanted to go, and I told my agent that. . . . "

That's the stuff Jake ! Piss all over Jermichael Finley. woodbuck27

Measurables: 6-3½, 250, !!? ... 4.61. Vertical 34½, broad 9-8 and 18 Reps. Arms were 32 1/4, hands were 9 3/8. Wonderlic of 29. Big Brain compensates for pissing alot.

Another WR...Myles White; Louisiana Tech

Played opposite one of my possible draft Fav's ... WR Quinton Patton in 2011-12.

"I wanted to go to Green Bay from Day 1.... I talked to the coaching staff....spots are open. . . . I feel I'm a playmaker. *** I have the speed (4.46) to stretch the field. I've always been the deep-threat guy. My hands are pretty good and I'm not scared to take (hits)."

*** NFC scout: "Really a small, slight guy. Ran fast but doesn't play to his time. Inconsistent tracking the ball and really lacks strength. But, he does have some speed. Questionable character."

Comment woodbuck:

All in all. Some decent UFA's to take interest in. Good Luck boys.

PACKERS !

She's got a long torso. Overall...decent measureables ! I suspect... a tad inexperienced.

What about her strength/stamina? Does she possess any speed?

I live in the Raleigh-Durham, NC area, so you hear a lot about guys from the 3 local universities (Duke, UNC and NC State) prior to the draft. I was expecting to see that Conner Vernon (http://www.nfl.com/draft/2013/profiles/conner-vernon?id=2539949) had been picked up after the draft and was surprised to see that he had not. He was the most likely guy from Duke (not a great football program, but occasionally produces an NFL-level talent). If you click on the link for his name above and read his profile, it says something interesting:

"Vernon finished his career as the ACC's all-time leader in pass receptions and receiving yardage."

He was a very good route runner at Duke, so I figured someone might take a chance on him as a slot receiver-type. He was a punt returner, so that would add some value. I know comparisons are difficult, especially when one guy has maximized his talent from where he started. Wes Welker was an undrafted guy out of Texas Tech in 2004 who made it through camp, but was cut after the first game of the season to make room for another roster move that San Diego made. Marty Schottenheimer said it was a regrettable move (what else could he say after Welker became what he is now). Then he went to Miami and worked his way up and then was productive enough to get traded by Miami to NE for a 2nd and a 7th round choice. I know that's unusual.

Vernon's measurables are similar to Welker's coming out of college (see Vernon's link above and Welker's below). I know the ACC is not the greatest football conference, but this guy distinguished himself while playing for average to mostly poor teams. I'm not predicting he will become the next Wes Welker, because sometimes it's just talent meets opportunity, but it would be cool for the Packers to take a look at Vernon and see if he fits their system.

That reads pretty good for Conner Vernon. It looks to me as if that was a solid fit for him to get into the NFL.

** The site pegs him as the most noteable UFA WR signed by Oakland.

** The all-time ACC leader in receptions and receiving yards. He had 20 touchdowns as a four-year starter at Duke, with 273 receptions for 3,630 yards including 85 catches for 1074 yards and 8 touchdowns as a senior helping him to earn All ACC second team three consecutive seasons. FR. LINK

The man is consistent 'a four year starter' and recognized within the league as a second team ALL STAR 3X. That's big for him !

The above is solid. It has to be so rough for some of these lads waiting and hopeing to be drafted; and every round slips by and it's >>>no. That's a drag, if you've worked hard and gave it alot as this fella sure demonstrates by his resume to have done.

** When your mentioned in the same sentence as Wes Welker. That's complementry for him. That has to feel good.

We'll keep an eye on him but Oakland sure looks like a great landing spot for an NFL tryout for Conner Vernon.

As is often the case, the UDFA's look like camp bodies. Until one of them starts playing lights-out, at which point we inevitable suggest that that player should start and contribute heavily for the team this year.

I think the only time that actually panned out was with Sam Shields.

But history shows that a couple of them will actually make the team.

IMO Patrick Lewis is going to make it.....does not seem to be much upside with many of these.
Sam Shields was an ez pick for us all to nail early due to his speed and upside.

Some of these guys have some interesting credentials. It will be fun to see how these translate into performance on an NFL practice field.

That has got to be the fun part of being a scout. While its desperately important at the top of the draft, scouts have got to be tired of Leaf/Manning, Smith/Rodgers, Bush/Williams debates by the time of the draft.

Finding players no one has heard of and have them show something at rookie camp has to make their jobs worth it.

Here's a link to an interesting article on Mulamba:

It would thrill me to no end if the Packers signed a UDFA from a foreign country with very very little football experience whom they developed into a very proficient sack artist/OLB, while the Lions drafted 5 overall a guy from a foreign country with very little football experience who subsequently pooped the football bed.

Illinois State and Greendale native Ben Ericksen had agreed to sign with the Packers as an undrafted free agent, but it appears a medical issue resulted in the team not signing him.

A source familiar with the situation said Ericksen did not pass the physical but did not give specifics. A phone message left for Ericksen was not returned.

That's sad, look at this kid's Twitter page. Can you say ready to join the Packers? Tough luck. https://twitter.com/Bwerick_Eazy7 I hope it can still work out.

Ben Ericksen, safety, Illinois St.

Ericksen is 6-1, 195 with nice athleticism. He ran a 4.42 at his pro-day with solid numbers all around. He was pretty productive too with 7 ints last year. He's also a Greenville, WI native.

That's sad for both sides
