IRVING, Texas - Here are the highlights of Cowboys head coach Bill Parcells' news conference Wednesday from Valley Ranch:

While the Cowboys have made no official move with third quarterback Drew Henson, Parcells did announce Henson will not be on the team's 53-man roster this year.

The Cowboys traded linebacker Scott Shanle to the New Orleans Saints for an undisclosed late-round draft choice, likely a seventh.

Wide receiver Terrell Owens will not practice Wednesday afternoon, and it appears he once again is day-to-day. At this point, actually playing in Saturday's preseason game against San Francisco looks doubtful.

Wide receiver Patrick Crayton, who hasn't practiced since suffering a high ankle sprain against Seattle, is out of the walking boot and is expected to begin doing on-field rehab work with the trainers Wednesday.

The Cowboys released 2004 third-round pick Stephen Peterman, who basically has been beaten out by second-year guard Cory Procter.

The Cowboys also released rookie free-agent corner Quincy Butler, free-agent tight end Erik Jensen and rookie free-agent linebacker John Saldi.

Flozell Adams suffered a strained left calf muscle in Monday night's game and was not expected to practice Wednesday, leaving his status iffy for Saturday's game.

Kicker Mike Vanderjagt still is bothered by his strained groin and is unsure if he will kick Saturday night, a situation Parcells said is starting to bother him as he contemplates the final 53-man roster.

Comment woodbuck27:

Trouble "with the NOT America's Team" ?

Guard Stephen Peterman has only dressed for 3 games in two seasons with Dallas.

QB Drew Henson started only one game and dressed for seven games in 2004. ZERO's across the board in 2005.

With T.O. and VanderJERK on the roster they are now trying to take the title of America's All-Turd team away from the Bengals!

Is that another reason Brett is better than Brady? Brett never got beat out by Drew Henson.

This Stephen Peterman intrigues me. He was a 3rd round pick who flashed good potential.

Wasn't Peterman the name of Elayne Benes' boss on Seinfeld?

Nicely done. Big Ten reference, Favre positive and Brady negative. And poking a stick at bulldog. This post has everything.

Its a five tool post. Good job Scott.

If you know college football, you know Lloyd Carr or at least have heard of him and all his shortcomings as a coach. Carr loved Henson's strong arm and mobility but all Brady did was play strong and well. Brady's senior year, UM was playing MSt. and Brady had the Wolverines up and than Heson was put in the game and

UM collapsed but that idiot Carr kept platooning the two. Brady will neveer blow you away with any one thing he does, definitely with just shells and shorts on but once the irons are in the fire, well you know the rest of the story!
