Guy runs a 3-4 that uses multiple fronts. the article seems solid though I think he is mis-numbering some techniques but that's a nit-pick.

There are several things in here you will recognize including a version of 3-4 that looks like a 4-3 that Shurmur might have run. And Capers has been using to get Raji off the nose. You will also find Horton's version of the 2-4-5 pass defense.

Did anyone else notice Mike Trgovac mention that 4 technique at his PC after the draft? He specifically mentioned 4 and 0 and I think he was speaking about the base 3-4, Oakie. I never knew the Packer aligned their ends in what they consider a 4 tech (somewhere from inside Tackle shoulder to T-G gap).

Here is a good description of D line techniques and their position.

Makes sense. KY has already said we 1-gap our DE's and 2-gap our NT.

NT gets both A gaps. DE's each bet a B gap. OLB's funnel the run inside, and our ILBs flow. Just using memory, that seems how it works. That's why we don't go drafting traditional 2-gapping DE's. We draft 1-gap DT types (preferably longer ones, but one gap players none the less.)

This guy looks like a two-gapper. Ted would never draft him.

Good link. It references this, which I thought was very interesting description of NE's defense and how it's both a 3-4 and a 4-3...at the same time.

I'd like to hear KY elaborate on what he sees in the capers scheme a little bit more. From what I can tell we mix up a good bit of both 1 and 2 gap especially last year, with 2 gap being slightly more common for us overall.
