It looks like a church.

I think the NFL is our national religion now, with its myth making role clear - it provides distraction and hope and symbolizes the values the current culture appears to treasure, and is a battleground for the cultural clashes we are experiencing.

And think of all the times the attendees in that new stadium will be saying things like "Jesus Christ!" And "For God's Sake!" And "Holy Shit!"

The Cathedral of Divine Frustration.

Valhalla, except that the Vikings will always be Loki to the Packers' Thor.

No matter what they do with that place, it can't be any worse than the lame excuse for a stadium they had before.

I guess it's better than the original drawings of a spaceship stadium.

Looks like the roof is slanted, probably so it can slide off instead of building up?

It was specifically designed that way to stop the snow from piling up on the roof. Better have a big area on the other side that's keeps the fans away otherwise there will be a rare avalanche story in Minneapolis.

As you should Brandon.

After seeing the inside pics I gotta wonder how loud this thing is gonna get. Maybe it will have some special design like Seattle's that amplifies the sound. Likely it will be loud as fuck. Also looks like it could host a SB.

I've heard they're trying to attract an MLS team to Minnesota with this as well and so the fans sit very close to the field as in soccer. That should make it loud. No way it could be louder than that giant diaper they used to play in though. It wasn't just the noise, it was the terrible acoustics that made it an echo chamber for all the high-pitched sobbing of their fanbase.

Let's get real. Who's going to want to go to freaking Minneapolis in February for any reason whatsoever?

It's probably just luck, but I'll bet a slanty roof does stop snow from piling up.

Dear Vikings ownership,

Please have as many seats as you can fit and make sure the roof is slanty.

That's better than playing games inside a huge garbage bag, as they have up until now.

Someone on another forum pointed out the issues they might have with all the shadows. Miller Park has problems with the sun shining through one panelled wall. How are all those shadows going to affect the football and baseball? There will be checkerboard shadows over the whole field, with the ball flickering as it goes through the air. Can you imagine how distracting this will be especially when a baseball game is played in there in the afternoons?

NFL: Vikings' new stadium will have translucent roof

Opening the roof over the new home of the Minnesota Vikings would have forced planners of the $975 million project to eliminate some of the fancy features.

So the team, the public agency in charge of the stadium and the architects designing it literally saw the light. The yet-to-be-named multi-purpose facility will have a translucent roof and moveable front windows.

Comment woodbuck27:

So that the Minnesota Vikings can take counter measures against any potential of extreme fan noise and exercise proper consideration for visiting teams.
