He's got a tough row to hoe. But he could be a good story of maybe finally getting it right and doing the almost impossible. I'll be pulling for him.

The fact that he is back with the Packers tells you what they think of his football talent, and the changes he has made in his life.

They just need to NEVER let him out of their sight.

This guy needs to be part of the rotation pronto.

If Jolly comes back and gives anything close to what he was in 09 suddenly the d line might be deep. If Jolly sticks you have Raji, Pickett, and Jolly for beef, and Jones, Neal, Daniels, and Worthy (probably PUP though) as rushers. Throw in Wilson and I could see them carrying seven d linemen this year.

Just read an article about Perry on packersnews and it sounds like he is embracing OLB and even lost a little weight. I have my doubts about him but if he proves to be a player and Jolly and Bishop make is back and make an impact we could have the makings of a decent defense this year.

Well, hopefully he can get there. But we have no idea what kind of shape he is in, and how long it will take him to shake off the rust from not playing football since 2009. I'm rooting for the guy, but I'm not sure what to expect.

Yes, we have no clue what kind of shape he is in but he is still under contract and it won't hurt to have him come up to the next OTA so we can see if he has anything left.

This is going to be interesting to follow. I was of the opinion that Jolly more than likely will be out of shape and will have a snowballs chance in hell to make this roster. Then, I got to thinking. The Packers met with him prior to reducing his contract, so they got a good look at him. They could have just released him. I'm guessing the Packers like what they saw or feel he has a chance. This is going to be a story that I'm going to closely follow during TC.

Good Luck Jolly!

Here's Jolly's reaction to completing the proscribed program and "graduating" with the judge's approval: "She seen something in me even though she gave me the sentence, she seen something in me."

I wonder what she seen.

I wonder what we'll seen when he arrives.

Not only that, several sources said the Packers intended to simply release him, but agreed to meet with him, then changed their minds about releasing him. Of course, it has been written many times that the coaches genuinely like the guy because he is a fanatic about playing football, and their personal like for the guy has entered into it.

Could be that they aren't counting on keeping him, but figure he will make a good camp body because he has always been an intense practice player. Maybe they figure on releasing him eventually but are willing to give him a chance to show other teams that he can play, while using him to elevate practice intensity.

Jolly is a long shot but I think we're all pulling for him. He will certainly increase the level of competition in camp. Even if he doesn't make the final cut he can use the exhibition games to audition for the other 31 teams.

I am hoping he makes it. It surely seems a longshot, given the sheer numbers and the Packers' preference for youth. Don't the Packers usually keep six or seven down linemen?

Let's see, who is competing? There's Raji, Pickett, Neal, Wilson, Daniels, Worthy (if he gets back), Datone Jones, Boyd (the fifth round pick), and Jolly. Is that all of them?

Nine guys for six or seven spots?

Jolly couldn't give much pass rush, but he seemed disciplined in his assignments, and man, could he ever knock down a pass. I think, if Jolly could approach the level of his 2009 play, that it'd be harder for AP
to rack up 200 yards against the Packers. But that's a big if.

If you had to get a bitter old prostitute across a lake in a rowboat with no outboard, you'd have a tough hoe to row!

Thinking of hoes, we made fun of Mario Williams for losing $1M ring to a gold digger, but that purple drank bitch cost Jolly about $10M and a ring.

Acme Packers asks a good question about how the NFL reinstated him before his rehab was complete.

I am sure his participation was part of the order releasing him from prison onto parole. But that rehab could have consisted of both in patient and out patient portions and was probably longer than the common 28 days.

But it does show we probably knew very little detail of his status and Goodell probably had a better bead on it after Jolly's application was made.

Johnny Jolly will get a second chance with the Packers, but it’s unclear when

Redemption song?

By: JASON WILDE

jwilde@espnwisconsin.com

(Mike) McCarthy did say after Tuesday’s OTA practice that everyone – including Jolly – deserves a shot at redemption.

“I think our society is built on second chances. Think (of) how many times you look through the history of successful individuals that probably or maybe wouldn’t have happened without a second chance,”

McCarthy said after the Packers returned to work for their second week of OTA practices after players had the Memorial Day weekend off.

“Every case is different. There’s no absolute right way and wrong way when you evaluate every situation. I’m glad to see Johnny Jolly going through the process that he’s going through. (I’m) very proud of where he is to this point. But he still has a lot in front of him.” .." Mike McCarthy ... Fr. LINK

It is very obvious that the organization thinks a lot of Jolly, especially Trgovac:

Last week, Jolly graduated from his court-ordered drug-rehabilitation program in Houston. In the audience for Jolly's graduation Wednesday were Packers director of player programs Rob Davis and personnel executive Alonzo Highsmith, and defensive line coach Mike Trgovac has been keeping in touch with Jolly as much as he could under NFL rules since the suspension was handed down.

“Not so much ever thinking he’d ever come back here. That was not my intent of it,” Trgovac said Tuesday. “Johnny’s such a good guy, and sometimes good guys get in a bad way, and I just care about him as a person. That’s why I stayed in contact with him as much as I was allowed to.

“There were times when I wasn’t actually allowed to contact him based on the rules, him being (suspended). I was in contact with his mother and stuff like that. If I broke a rule, I didn’t try to. I tried to stay within all the rules. But I just care about him as a person.”
