So apparently McNabb's number will be retired by the Eagles. I'm a little surprised by this, there was such a love/hate relationship there. He was a great player, but probably won't make the HOF and they didn't win a SB with him, not sure he deserves a number retirement.
yeah, that seems a little much for him
very good player, but not "special"
i guess its up to them though, whatever turns your crank

Well, he did get them to four straight NFC championships.

That tells me that franchise doesn't have a lot of special players to cite if they are doing this for McNabb. He was a nice QB but not HOF material.

They did have a lot of special ones, 55 years ago or so. Plus Harold Carmichael.

I would think to get your number retired you'd have to win a championship or be elected into the HOF. But, like Red said: "Whatever turns your crank." There just aren't any titles there except the 1960 win over the Pack. I've watched that replay and Lombardi really screwed up early in that game by not going for field goals and getting stuffed on 4th down. If you care to relive the horror, try this site. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_A9iYkth4zk
It should be a great honor for McNabb so who am I to spoil his day!

During the retirement ceremony, Donovan's number will almost make it to the anchor to hold it in place. But they won't quite reach it, leaving everyone feeling unfulfilled.

He couldn't have done it without Sharper and Jue.

i think they should also build a bronze statue of him at the pinnacle of his career

Need some mention of Nick Barnett being very concerned about a TE running a five yard route.

Kinda like Mike Sherman in the 4th-and-26 game....Ahman Green tripping over his right guard or tackle.
