There are obvious players who are locks to make the roster. What's interesting to me is the players who may distinguish themselves enough to either make the 53 man (harder this year than last year, IMO) or the practice squad.

In May the Ravens signed Omarius Hines, a WR from Florida along with a slew of other players post draft. On July 22 the Ravens released him for some reason right before camp started. On July 29th the Packers picked him up. I will be interested to see if he can make an impression in camp enough to at least make the practice squad.

Check out this little non-descript interview done when he was at Florida. At the very end of the clip, they ask him what he was timed at running the 40 and he said 4.33. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jaTvEMaOmfo

You have to like the level of competition he faced in the SEC, so we'll see where that can take him.

Who are you interested to see in live action during the pre-season that would be considered a long-shot, and why?

Yes, Patler, agreed. If this guy is healthy - please let it be so - now is the time to plug him in and get him some reps. He was drafted to be the Packers' left tackle, and while his injury was traumatic, if it's healed enough for him to play - well, it's time.

He'll look like hell for a while, but he needs to step up and play if at all possible.
