Our 2nd string o line is putrid.

well, they apparently learned their trade from the first stringers.

The O-line has gotten beat tonight. I wouldn't say overpowered, but there was always a breakdown somewhere.

Van Roten really, really, needs to work on his shotgun snaps

i noticed that the last two weeks, its like he snaps it straight up into the air and makes the QB come get it

If Young makes team we HAVE to get Partial back.

Did the packers just run a zone read?

Nice drive. Granted its not against the 1's but Youngs legs help him. Harrell can't consistently throw well. Harrell had a TD pass dropped,by Finley plus Jones failed to keep running on a pass that looked to be on the mark. But he also had several sailing passes.

King Friday

Phil Simms...all-knowing QB...saying Vince Young can't possibly be a backup when he is leading the Packers to their only TD of the night.

Phil...if you just learned SOME humility, I might occasionally put some weight to your opinions. Instead, Phil thinks every QB needs to be really smart...big words from a Morehead State grad.

Loved all the shoutouts to to other series. The new Netflix season (3rd) was too much Ron Howard but liked it none the less.

I don't know what I thought of that game. . . . . Very uneventful. in other words, a preseason game.

O-line was tested and didn't look good. We need a center, EDS gives nothing in the run game and isn't good pass blocking. SF is going to have a field day.

MM says Vince Young "took a step today."

MM has to make a choice now. Gotta put Vince Young at #2 and give him practice and game time to get ready, if that is his decision.

Yup same here. Banjo had a quick response and made a sure tackle that stopped a drive in first half. Looking like House might be out of a job the way things are shaking out.

So, we have to get the roster down to 75 by Tuesday. This preseason has been flat out boring. Would love to get healthy for the regular season.

He definitely has some pluck. I wonder which string he will be? He looks like he comes ready to play. :rs:

Does looking down at the grass on the sidelines count? I thought I saw him in one camera shot with no helmet on. Must have been dinged up since they play everyone on the roster in pre-season.

He was standing on the sidelines, still in pads in the 3rd quarter. IMO, if it was serious, he'd be on the bench or in the locker room. Probably got it banged pretty good.

At least it didn't "blow up."

McCarthy seemed to really be into it tonight when VY was moving the ball. MM is our QB guy. I have a feeling VY is going to be our guy. I'd be happy with him as our backup QB.

I think the hamstrings were probably more cramping. It was a hot few days in GB. Those guys might have been a little dehydrated.

It's possible that he made the team, or at least the GM knows what he's got, he's looked good in camp. They could be looking at Green more because his post-injury capability is more unknown. One or both those guys will get cut, but I think it is tricky to read the tea leaves.

Does anyone else believe the Packers are lacking a speed receiver like Jennings to stretch the field? (Well, the announcer said Jones is a "burner" so maybe I'm wrong.)

It doesn't help having Jordy and Randall in street clothes last night.

So who comes out at QB for the 2nd half? I want to see someone other than Harrell.

My god, Lacy and Harris have 8 runs for 8 yds. Maybe Wist is on to something.

Its difficult to run when the D doesn't respect the QB's arm and puts 8 in the box.

No doubt. There was a couple sitting behind us last night who were focusing on the Sea D. The guy would call out if there was 1 or 2 deep safeties on every snap in the first half. Sea was in 1 deep safety mode most of the game except on 3 and long or 4+ WR sets.

I think this also is why Finley was targeted a lot in the passing game. All he had to do was beat a LB or S who was only playing 4yards from the line of scrimmage.

Golden Tate was booed every time he touched the ball or announced as the punt returner.

Crosby got the loudest cheer of the night where he made his FG attempt.

Finley had some balls thrown to him that weren't in the right spot. He had to turn or twist or reach behind him to make the catch. That being said he got two hands on those balls and didn't bring them in. Not saying a TE of NFL quality makes all of those catches but a superstar TE should.

Either they think they already know what they have and they are protecting his health, or they are done with him. If they were done with him and wanted to try and trade him, you'd think if he was healthy enough, they would have played him more so there was recent games reps. It's going to be an interesting decision at RB. Do you keep Starks and risk another season of getting dinged up, or do you keep Green now that he's rehabbed his way back to being able to show what he can do finally?

Fritz
08-24-2013, 01:52 PM
My guess is that you'd want the younger Green and see if he's put the injury behind him. Starks, healthy now, does not seem to have run very well this camp. And he fumbled.

At the beginning of camp many said Starks looked awesome but maybe he's the looks-like-Tarzan-plays-like-Jane kind of guy.

Harrell just doesn't have an arm teams have to respect. Young should be the backup. If he has to play, they can go with a pared down play list. He can at least make plays with his legs if the passing game isn't working smoothly.

Things work much better when TT and MM listen to me.
