REAL easy to get this out of the game or at least minimize the impact. If a player goes down he cannot return until a change in possession or a time out is used. Boom.

What is it now? Player has to come out for one play, right?

Yep. It should at least be the series or something.

that really is a good idea. i was thinking last night about maybe not letting an ijured player return to the game at all, but that seemed a little harsh

the problem is exactly the same problem soccer has had forever. you just can't prove if a player is faking or taking a dive. how can you prove if a guy has the wind knocked out of him, or has a calf cramp, or took a shot to the head and is seeing stars?

Eaxactly. Make the team take a timeout if getting them back in is important enough.

There should be something that is not too harsh, yet makes coaches think twice about pulling a guy off the field. Change of possession, or even just until there is a new set of downs.

Not sure about a new set of downs. Every third down would be fair game...and if the point of faking is to substitute for a down, second down is fair game for the substituted player.

If every time a player is injured he has to go on IR, that would even things out in the Packers' favor

Not a set of downs because a no huddle team gets a 15 yard first down, runs down to start a play and a Giant falls over fake hurt.

If it's real then it is just for player safety making sure the docs can look over the injury. If it's fake you are punished.
