You know, was that the play he came out of the end zone? Yea, I think Fairly tried to trip him but missed as he broke the goal line to escape the safety.

edit: they finally called. I think they are letting holding go big time this across the NFL, not just this game.

I think it was either Israel or #78 on that attempted trip not Fairley, but could be wrong.

Is the wide receiver allowed to run into him? The first part of the double move locked Shields in place. Incidental at that point.

Well after 5 yards? I'd have to see it again, but my impression was that he gave him a pop after two strides then turned and ran. The WR tried to go through him to get to the ball he caught. The announcers weren't sure if the flag was s O or D.

The receiver counts as a runner when he gets two feet inbound.

McMillan did give the guy a shot to the head using his shoulder. The second slo-mo showed the guy got his beaner stung pretty good. It was incidental in that McMillan wasn't trying to put a lick on the guy, he just happened to catch him. I think it was a borderline call, but not a terrible call.

So I'm pretending to be a farmer this weekends. Johnson out so our d looks good, however what's the problem on O? I expected a lot of points. How did oline play?

the word shitty comes to mind. they didn't give up sacks, but it wasn't from lack of trying

Clay out with Thumb injury

http://espn.go.com/blog/green-bay-packers/post/_/id/1737/matthews-leaves-with-thumb-injury

He don't need no stinkin thumbs.

BTW, I heard Jones was hurt in the first half, and it was the first time I realized there are three Joneses on the team.
I think one of those guys ought to changes his name to Smith out of consideration for others. Or maybe since Datone Jones is so tall, he can be called "basketball jones"

Ahh, the run blocking was pretty good.

On the other side of the ball, it seems like the packers have to rush 5 to get any pressure. Sometimes 6. I guess you can do that when the other team has their two top wideouts out.

Suh and fairly play? Looks like we ran well so by stats alone they look good. Did burnett play? Also perry and Neal with sacks, do we have pass rush now?
Also Crosby 5/5 wow.

Didn't get a chance to see the game.

A few questions
-How did Burnett and the safeties in general look?
-I see we only gave up 1 sack. Was that from good protection, quick throws, or was Rodgers just barely getting rid of it before getting drilled?
-How was the run blocking?
-Who was the 3rd down back? I'm guessing not Franklin?
-How was our pressure on Stafford? I see 5 sacks but was that due to heavy blitzing?

Thanks

Yes, the Packers were sending 5 most passing downs. Lions were short of receivers, and the Packers seemed to contain Bush on screens and outlets

Didn't get a chance to see the game.

A few questions

-How did Burnett and the safeties in general look?

Better in close (Burnett) same shaky tackling deep (Jennings). McMillan was still dime CB and was OK. They allowed their usual assortment of crossing route completions and a couple throws down the middle.

-I see we only gave up 1 sack. Was that from good protection, quick throws, or was Rodgers just barely getting rid of it before getting drilled?

Compared to usual Lions games, pass pro was solid. Overall it was average. Rodgers had time and only once or twice was someone in his lap. he took no hard shots I remember.

-How was the run blocking?

Stunningly good, thought the Lions were playing six in the box.

-Who was the 3rd down back? I'm guessing not Franklin?

Lacy and Cobb

-How was our pressure on Stafford? I see 5 sacks but was that due to heavy blitzing?

Moderate blitzing, about Capers average but def. not heavy. Best news was Neal (1) and Perry (2) got sacks.

Also Crosby 5/5 wow.

Lacy had 99yds. Cobb was sprung for a huge 67 yd run. Burnett played well. We had to rush 5-6 sometimes to get pressure.

Suh had a stupid tripping call on Rodgers that helped extend a drive. Burnett had an awesome pass defensed. A WR broke free in end zone and made up the gap and stuck his handout with back turned to QB. Knocked it away and saved a TD.

I agree. It was a workmanlike effort. Not a lot of standout performances but not a lot of goats either. Took care of business. Next week will be an intriguing game.

So burnett looked good! That is music to my ears maybe now we can have a consistent game instead of the massive lapses we seem to have.

Bad call. Right foot may have (perhaps even likely) been on the ground when he caught the ball. I could see it being ruled incomplete if that's the call on the field. It wasn't, and there shouldn't have been enough evidence to overturn it.

the more i think about this, the more i agree

when it first happened, i was watching the right foot come back down and i though incomplete. but after seeing the replay, it looks like the right toe was touching when he caught the ball

you could not tell for sure, so since it was ruled a catch on the field it shouldn't have been overturned IMO

I thought the game was a big nothingburger. I'm glad they won, they needed to get to 2-2. But they didn't prove they are better than the Lions.

Packers have a running game, and they mostly shut-down the Lions running game.
My guess is the Packer secondary played well. But missing Johnson & Burleson is similar to the Packers playing without Nelson and Finley.

That was a catch as seen on slo mo. Jones got a big dick in the butt, and he looked it on the bench.

Can our defesne survive for any great length of time with Clay out?

I used to think our offense could put up 35 points a game without question. We have now scored one TD in the last 5 quarters.

I guess our motto, as always, is next man up if he can't play.

Those injuries were wrist injuries. I know in Barnett's case they said he risked permanent injury to the wrist if he tried to play with the injury. Cullen Jenkins played a few years ago with a club on his left hand when he broke it.

Didn't Jenkins break his hand in the first series of a game and came back in the 2nd half with a club.

Matthews will want to play. Even if he has surgery, can't they club it anyway

Well see in McGinn's ratings column, but I thought it was a pretty average blitz day.

Good news! I fast-forward through the Lions offensive plays. The Packers most often rushed 5 on passing downs. Second most often they rushed 4, but not much more than the times they rushed 6.

Maybe it didn't look like blitzes, because there was nothing dramatic off the corner, and the pressure on Stafford was not intense. But the Packers were throwing bodies up the middle all game.

Fuck Bob McGinn, you got Harlan Huckleby right here.

Major suck job. What fun is it to beat a team without their superstar player?

This just sucks ass. Lions have another receiver out too. This makes a win less sweet, and a loss more sour. I don't like it.

Nobody felt sorry for us when we lost Clay and only had one RB with a sore foot against Cincy.
